that archive contains the english language file. last time i downloaded it from github, i found an archive that did not contain the english language file. the problem is now solved but, try to include the english language file in all archives of the editor.

i found one issue. when i try to create a new save inside the editor, i get stuck out at sea near the bridge from galbadia to fisherman`s horizon. no matter what i tried to do, i kept getting stuck there. that was in the old disc version.

i tried that already but, my only option is french, because i do not have additional language files. you clearly did not read my post. if you had done so you would have seen that.

my idea might seem difficult and i do not expect it to be easy. i should be able to deal with the scripting and the dialogue. i can not create the art however. i need someone that can create a new background for each of the trabia garden zones. i also need someone to create trabia town. i expect to be able to add everything to the game myself by using the editor known as deling. once this project is done, i intend to expand it and make trabia garden mobile. i am leading the project but, i do not know anybody that can create the art for it, that is why i came here.

i have no issues running final fantasy 8. it actually works better in my version of windows 10 than it did in windows xp(that goes for both steam and disc versions). even the installer worked perfectly. the steam version of final fantasy 7 also works perfectly. i have tested them recently. final fantasy 7 and 8 on steam i tested while i was writing this.

that makes it easier to use. i am grateful for that. i am going to experiment with it. is there any limits to what pc versions it supports? not that it really matters to me when i have all 3. i just want to avoid wasting time editing an incompatible version.

Gameplay / Re: mod suggestion: mobile trabia garden

my intention is to make it possible to donate to trabia garden(with selphie in the team. right after the event) in order for it to be repaired then make it mobile when it is repaired. in a way similar to the repairs done in chrono trigger if you have played that. in other words add a sub-quest to the game. i am still studying the files and i found several unused model slots in trabia garden. i have decent skills at leading projects and this isnt my first mod project at all. i have been working on a roleplaying game of my own as well.(that is where i got experience with writing dialogue.)

i already know where the models are stored. field models is stored in the field.fs file, battle models are stored in the battle.fs file.(that includes backgrounds.) some world data is stored in the world.fs file. encounters for the field can be configured in the field.fs file. (each zone can be configured separately. as a test i tried to create random encounters in trabia garden and that worked perfectly.) there is a tool named deling that enables stuff to be imported and it also functions as a complete editor of the final fantasy 8 core data. dialogue is what i am good at though. i will keep studying the final fantasy 8 files though to find out what i dont already know. i dont however need to add any new characters nor is that supported at the moment. i still want nida to be the pilot. scripts is found in the files mentioned earlier.

i have tried it and i must say that this tool is very good. it can edit the text in the game completely. that means that custom dialogue can be created. that enables modding of the game. i tested it some more by trying to add encounters in trabia garden and that worked well. i am still learning how it works however. i just found a bug. the main_chr.fs file inside the field.fs file can be exported but not edited. this tool is very good as a modding tool however so i hope that work on it continues.

the pc version of final fantasy 8 stores enough data on the harddrive to access events on a different cd that what they are on. i have also played with a mobile balamb garden on cd 1. it should therefore be possible to add new models without having to install the cds. my speciality is text writing so i can write the dialogue.

good tool. it enables me to sequence break so that i can get a mobile balamb garden on cd 1 with balamb garden and galbadia garden still on the map. one issue i did encounter with that however was that if i land and reenter balamb garden i cant leave it again. i just tested it on the demo and it doesnt work with the saves from the demo. you should fix that.
