Title: Need help with replacing battle models

Hey guys I'm completely new here and it's good to get a fresh start on a new forum.

I've done much modding before on such games as Left 4 Dead and Half Life 2 so I'm not completely useless.

So I've always been a fan of FFVII and I'm loving the content you guys release it's truly brilliant. However I want to help guys out here with making battle models I can do the modelling but I need to know how I can get them in game I have looked around probably not enough and watched a video where someone shows you how to replace the buster sword he said it's the same method but I'm still very confused.

 If someone could direct me or even write about how to do it I would be very thankful I understand it's an annoyance to get questions like these as I was asked a lot back in the day on the source engine.

I believe I'm in the wrong part of the forums before anyone says. Is there anyway I can get a tutorial on this?
