Try turning off post-processing... shaders can cause all sorts of weirdness, and Intel isn't exactly known for their 3D chips.

7th Heaven / Re: Error while Downloading Mods
« on: 2020-02-10 23:57:33 »
A lot of people have been trying to download larger mods and over-running the bandwidth quota lately, so this could be related, though it seems more like you've run out of local resources (either disk or ram).  What are your system specs, and how much free drive space do you have?

153
Just a stab in the dark, but I'm guessing it'll be completely skipping it by adding a script/conversation option at the very beginning, then advancing the GM counter if you do skip.
Edit:  Are you sure you want to skip, though?  There is that elemental materia in Tifa's piano, which can only be acquired if you "jam" on it during the flashback...

Sure... you get tetanus just by looking at the Nibelheim reactor, after all.  Besides, who knows what kinds of corrosive effects mako has on metal, especially in something called a "reactor."

Umm... look around the forums...  There's a thread (with much newer versions!!) for items 1,2 and 4.  For item 3, there are a couple of others which are also newer and better quality.  Look in sub-forums that have "FF7 .... Releases" in their titles ;)

156
So many people are trying to download mods from the catalog these days that bandwidth quotas are being imposed.  Two ways of dealing with this:
1.  Chill and try again in a couple days
2.  Locate the associated release thread here on the forums and see if there's a direct download link.

Hello! I wanted to say that the video "disc00_29h" was not completely done, it was cropped.
There are more than a couple like this, and it's intentional.  For reasons unknown, SE didn't create all their FMVs in the same ratio, so depending on the source, we've seen 3:2, 4:3, 16:9, and I think one other pretty odd one.

7th Heaven / Re: No "custom driver" option in renderer
« on: 2020-02-08 00:51:08 »
Don't use FF7Config.exe, it breaks the registry keys needed to make the OpenGL driver work.  Re-run the converter according to the tutorial instructions, and choose "overwrite" at the beginning.

Here is the link for those interested :

PS: As this is your work, I can remove the link if you request it.
The usual way of going about things is to ask first, link second ;)

Also, why would anyone want Cloud support for this game.  Which tit made that happen?
Because cloud.  Everything's better in the cloud, and the cloud will solve all your problems.  It'll solve world hunger, cure erectile dysfunction, and enable warp travel.  C'mon, get with the game!

Dude's very first post is to necro something from four years ago?  WTF?

Right here on the forums, just look in the appropriate sub-category.  For example, Satsuki's various upscales can be found in
    Qhimm.com Forums »
    Final Fantasy Forums »
    Graphical Modding »
    FF7 Graphical Releases

Post up your FF7_GC.log file... there may be something in there which would be instructive.

FWIW, we're all a little busy and most of the best folks are buried in various real-life issues.  I personally am a CD owner, which means I'm not particularly well-versed in the peculiarities of Steam, only general issues I've seen others deal with in the past.  Hopefully your problem is one of the things I've seen, but if not, I can only counsel patience... someone will see it eventually and be able to help.  You'll also find many of us on the Discord, where we can easily hand-off to each other depending on work load.

This guy are slick
I see what you did there

Might not be possible, because the Jessie mod uses the fact that Tifa isn't an allowable party member yet, and "borrows" what would be her slot in order to make things work.
Spoiler: show
Not that it really matters much, since Jessie is only in your party for the Reactor 1 mission anyways.

Your question kind of has multiple parts, so I'll try to tackle each piece individually...

- General frustration with 7H:  You're not the first, but part of that is because unlike FF8 (which because of underlying technical choices, means only the Steam version can currently be modified in a worthwhile way), FF7 can be modded for both the original PC-CD release (which I have), the Square-Enix store release, or the Steam release.  The latter two are based directly on the first, just with differing bits of registry cruft and installation methods.  But it also means there are three different versions to support instead of just one.  The most important part of getting FF7 to work with 7H is successfully running the Game Converter tool (linked to in the 7H installation tutorial).  If you haven't done that yet, you need to start there.  If you have, you can post up your FF7_GC.log file and we'll take a look to see if something seems fishy.

Downloading mods directly:  Yes, nearly every mod in the catalogs (both EQ2Alyza's default v2.3 and Strife98's Mods of the Round) has a release thread here on the forums, which usually include a direct download link to the IRO file.  You can then use the IRO tools in 7H to unpack the file into its components, and drop the results into the correct \direct\* folders, making sure that "direct_mode = on" is included near the bottom of your ff7_opengl.cfg file (it should be if the game converter ran successfully).

Alternative mod methods:  As part of his massive Reunion update, DLPB also created a new modding framework that works a lot like the \direct\* system does.  I haven't had time to really give it a good thrashing (what little time I have is given over to testing and packing things like Project Edge, ESUI, two unnamed/unreleased gadgets, and a totally new graphics driver), but from what I hear, folks generally like it.  The biggest hang-ups right now are a limited library of pre-existing mods (it's barely a couple of months old and the bugs are still being worked out, but almost anything in IRO format can be unpacked and made to work with some effort), it requires that you have a workable understanding of directory hierarchies, and aren't afraid to go editing .ini files.  I'm also not sure if it allows for easy fallback methods (a great example is with field textures... 7H allows you to load Project Edge first, then have Satsuki as a fallback if you enter an area that PE hasn't remodeled yet).

Finally, have you posted in the 7H thread for some help?  I also had a bear of a time when I started a little over a year ago, but we eventually traced it down to my having somehow stumbled across an older version of the converter that didn't set one of the flags correctly o.O

7th Heaven / Re: Bigger downloads not downloading
« on: 2020-02-03 12:51:59 »
Entirely possible... fortunately most of the larger mods (like Kela/Satsuki spell textures) have their own release threads and direct download links (usually Mega).

168
is it possible to use the remastered models in the old pc version?
Not at present.  Original PC-CD owners (like me) are pretty much screwed because of how SE did the graphics conversion.  We'll have to wait until a new driver gets released, or the OpenVIII team goes gold.

Simply put, Steam version (legally purchase). Patched. setup the paths.
Patched, converted, or both?

7th Heaven / Re: FFVII refuses to start up
« on: 2020-01-29 13:47:34 »
No worries.  Just keep an eye on stability... Project Edge can push older hardware (like mine) well past the breaking point.  Turning texture compression on sometimes helps (and I honestly can't see the difference in a 1400x1050 window), but until some of the new driver plug-ins are ready, if you find that entering a certain town/building causes a repeatable crash, turning PE off while you play through that segment is the first thing to try.

171
Should ask this in the New Threat thread, not 7th Heaven ;)

172
Try disabling post-processing.  When they work, they're nice, but they often cause a lot more trouble than they're worth.

Well, as you could probably tell, I'm not really a fan of Remako.  I much prefer Project Edge and satsuki's family of upscales, together with ESUI (which I've been helping with).

(I will note that PE is still very work-in-progress, and maybe only a fifth of the fields have been rebuilt so far, so you'll need a second field mod like satsuki loaded beneath it for best results)

7th Heaven / Re: Error after installing Mods
« on: 2020-01-25 19:02:29 »
Search "Code 5"  The answer is everywhere ;)

You'll also want to spend some time fixing that load order, and probably posting a copy of your profile when you're done.  Stuff's all out of order, you have potentially conflicting mods loaded (e.g. Reunion and New Threat), and some redundancies (2x models, 2x battle fields)

7th Heaven / Re: Consistent crash on during downloads

Been a lot of issues lately with bandwidth constraints.  Try looking on the forums for a mod's release thread, there are often direct DL links there you can use which will be more stable.  Once downloaded, use the 'Import IRO' function :)
