Title: Curious
Post by: Srethron Askvelhtnod on 2001-01-08 07:41:00
Does anyone know which of Qhimm's projects are done?
I know he has said that Griever may not see another release because he's fed up with FF8's inner mechanics.
I also know that Jenova may eventually have one final release for bugfixes before being closed, and that Garden is done as far as he is concerned.
What about the rest?

No. I was just going to leave it at just being no.. i just felt sorry for your lonely post out here.. i think the main person to ask would be Qhimm himself.

Hey, I'm sure Qhimm knows about this thread. Why do you think it's in Feedback? Thank you for replying. At least *someone* cares.

hey, i care, but from experience i know oushing someone (verbely/mentally) ends up with a project being dumped/killed.
so qhimm just needs time and support to make his comeback  :D
lets hope him a speedy recovery

I'm sure you know already...but...

we're both involved in Legacy
and I'm trying (and failing, so far) to edit the dialogue in FF7

Cadberry: Indeed.

The Skillster: Could be. I wish Qhimm a "speedy recovery" as long as it won't make him "oush" a project.

Ficedula: Continued good fortune and success to you.

oh, one prime example - i think a few of you will know about this one: http://yousei.lfx.org
yousei attempted to make an editor for ff6, he wanted to make the complete editor - text, characters, fonts, world map (!). you name it he had screen shots to prove he was workin on it. that was 2 years ago, and recently he just had enough and released the source for what he had left and erased the project completely from his life.
try it out, it is good (you need ff6 rom to ude it) but you feel he was being pushed past his limit.
i think qhimm feels the same way about garden. and possibly gast.

Heh, one kind of expected that Yousei would finally give up on the FF3ed project, but it's amazing how far he actually came. Oh goodie, Visual C++ source code!

lol! i was kinda hopin hed get it finished tho  :(
he has got most of his functions working, and most sections cant save so theres a new patch out more this geezer.
go grab it at www.zophar.net  under save editors/utilities
it fixes the saving prob.
the dialog editor DOES work, i edited the opening dialog to prove it to myself.
hopefully some one will complete that mighty editor (Qhimm?   )

well qhimm, do you feel the same way as yousei, when you finally released the source code? do you feel that you can touch those programs again? are there areas of the games that you are totally sick and fed up about? are there? or do you feel that youll handle anything and everything that gets thrown at you in good time? let us in on your feelings in these matters. after all we are here cause you made it possible  :)

Ya know if everyone just took it one step at a time .. it might be easier.. although its hard to do. So many ideas come into your head .. Maybe it is impossible.

Just because I released the source doesn't mean I don't want anything to do with it, I still work on them from time to time. It's just that I need to be motivated, like someone making a big discovery about data files or something, then I might work a week reverse-engineering, developing and implementing.

StrayWings: None have yet.

Caddberry: I operate on my own principle which I just made up on the spot. I'll call it the "erraticaly sporadic" principal.
Step 1: Basically, I find something to do that sounds neat.
Step 2: Then, I go all out and plan out in detail what I'm going to do covering every possible fun aspect I can think of.
Step 3: I actually start the work.
Step 4: After a bit, I'm making good headway, but then I find something else.
Step 5: Temporarily halt work on project while I check out the new thing I've discovered.
Step 6: Repeat steps 1-4 with new project.
Step 7: Begin randomly moving between work on projects 1 and 2.
Step 8: Find a new project and repeat Step 5.
Step 9: Repeat step 6.
Step 10: Repeat step 7 with all three projects.
Etc., etc.
Hey, whatever works, right?   :) Eventually I get everything done, believe it or not. It's just the in-between time when no progress is apparent because of all the different projects I have going (still 10+).

Qhimm: Hmmm, I'll try to send some more big discoveries your way...

The Skillster: Now *that's* something I'm familiar with.
