General Discussion / FFVII Piano Collections
« on: 2003-12-09 22:10:15 »
Sounds similar to the one that can be found from this url:
http://www.squaresound.com/ff7.shtml

So unless you're (Seph2000) Gigashadow or josh_1...... I won't believe that you've "arranged the weapon raid piece" last night.... instead you're just taking someone elses hardwork and claiming that it's yours.

The filename gave it away anyway; because I do download fan-made piano arrangements.....

Edit - Oh and I realised that you've actually edited the "Arranged by Josh Barron" part and replaced it with "Played by Sephiroth2000 for Qhimm's forum."

Well, from Final Fantasy 7 came 8, and from 8 came 9. I'm curious of what will happen if the number keeps going on. Will a Final Fantasy XIX be released one day, or a FFXIVVXIXX, maybe?

From what I've heard I think FFXII is going to be the last of the series.... but I might be wrong, as I'm not 100% certain.

And it said it was made by a person named FFSuPeRmAn!!! Legal?

Where does it say so? Can't seem to find it..... if it does; then that's not right surely.

Quote from: xeriouxi
I haven't checked it yet, but if it's the same Jenova program, then won't it have Qhimm's name on it?

I downloaded.... the program does have Qhimm's old name in it (Mrdata82).... and I still can't find any references to FFSuPeRmAn..

Though it has to be said, the site didn't give any credit to Qhimm for the program..

Cyb is right..... IIRC Cid did argue on whoever should fly the Bronco (And then he complains on how badly damaged the Bronco is).

Dont try to get Beta from the Midgar Zolom until youre at least lvl 40, LVL 50 is recommended.

Getting Beta isn't that hard. All you need is some luck.

What I do is I use Fire Ring (Nullifies the Beta attack) and hope that the Zolom doesn't knock-out the character (off-screen) with the Fire Ring. Use Hi-Potion to constantly heal characters, use Big Guard and constantly use Summon on the Zolom.... until the Zolom uses Beta.

Of course, you'll need to kill the Zolom if you want to learn the enemy skill (And make sure that the Beta was used on the char with Fire Ring!). I got Beta quite early on in the game (Before I went to Nibel).. and it really made things much easier. Beta works against the Zolom very well too, so if you want to learn Beta on another Enemy Skill, you can use Beta against the Zolom

13 hours doesnt sound remotely right.. maybe you exagerate? or he uh something but 13 hours!? 10 for updates.. musta been on what a 14.4?

Actually, he might be right.....

This is what I've read from Gamespot:
Quote from: Gamespot
The game's automatic patching utility needed to update more than 7,000 game files, a process which took more than 30 additional minutes of time, and that's with a very high-speed Internet connection. Though the system requirements suggest that a 56K modem is sufficient for playing the game, clearly, the amount of time it would take to download all these updates would be completely prohibitive for narrowband users.

And Rubicant's right too... the PS2 comes with a hard drive for updates.

Not that it matters for me, since I don't own a PS2 and I don't intend to buy the PC version of FFXI.

I'm not getting FFXI... it's pay to play. And from what I've read.... 6 GB of installation space?   :o Doesn't sound too good to me.

Seph2000: Not sure what you're talking about..... but, FFXI isn't out in North America for PS2 yet... or unless you're playing the Japanese version?

AFAIK Qhimm's programs are not "installable". They are just stand-alone executables (apart from TTG I think).

Because of the fact that I'm running on WinXP I have to install the Chocobo patch anyway.

Back to the topic: My mistake; FF7 doesn't run too well with Cat3.8. I assumed that it was "OK" because after I installed Cat3.8 I ran FF7 and the world map seems fine so I thought it was working well.... not until I entered pre-rendered scene areas.

I can't help you now since I *don't* really play FF7 anymore after I've completed it some time ago... but if you insist on playing FF7 in D3D you should perhaps revert to the older drivers, like Cat3.6. IIRC Cat3.6 works well with FF7. Otherwise, you can always use Software Mode.

Which one did you select in the FF7 Config.... RIVA 128 or TNT?

I have a Radeon 9600 PRO too, but I manage to run FF7 in D3D without any problems.

I used the following settings:
1.02 FF7.exe (+Chocobo patch)
1.02 FF7Config.exe
NVIDIA -> RIVA128 in FF7config
Disable AA/AF in D3D

Running on Cat3.8 too... but on WinXP Pro.

says about the original that was released in 1997. and something about 300 millions copies sold? (just guessing that one)

It's 3 million. The character after the 300 means "10000"....

Besides if it's 300 million copies.... that'd be a real record.... wouldn't it?

Wrong. Learn to press triangle, it skips tutorials.

Eh....strange. I played FF8 a few days ago (I stopped because I got bored of it)... and you can actually skip it (Tutorials) by pressing the "Cancel" button when Quistis is about to explain all those Junctioning crap (Don't get me wrong..... I never say that I hated the junction system). Works for me....

I'll be sure to remember that, FFTboy. I had no idea...

I pretty much doubt that Squaresoft will even bother work on a PC version for an old title like FF9......

And speaking about PC versions.... I've read the FF12 interview.... and the developer did mention about making it for the PS2 platform.... but he didn't mention anything about the PC version.........

General Discussion / Software patents?
« on: 2003-08-29 13:37:51 »
I understand where Qhimm is coming from... it seriously makes life of small developers much tougher if every small bit of coding were to be patented.. that'd be a real problem.

Well, like Nori told me:
"Welcome to the 21st century."

It's all about money. Greedy b**tards.

Do accounts get deleted if you don't post enough?  I probably barely posted anything when I joined.

If you check the memberlist you would realise that some members have 0 post count since the Year 2000 and still have their account intact  :D

So to answer that question, no ... no accounts have been deleted so far. (Apart from banned ones I guess... which are two of them if I'm not mistaken)

General Discussion / Software patents?
« on: 2003-08-27 21:55:42 »
Well I went to Qhimm's main page today and I saw this notice regarding software patents.... does this mean that you (Qhimm) will discontinue support on your programs and will not release them to the public anymore _if_ the parliament votes in favor of software patents?

I was trying to download Jenova today.... well I guess I'll have to use the mirrors then if that's the case.

All these monopolisation stuff is really sickening...

72
Well I've tested it with a save editor and yeah I beat Emerald in 1:30 too.....  :P

73
That's mad... how the hell did they manage to do that?!

Archive / Possible bug in FF7 PC
« on: 2003-08-22 19:17:43 »
Are you using the PSX or PC version? I tested it, I equipped Cloud with 8 Counter attacks and used the Final Attack + Phoenix combination; it didn't work when Cloud was killed by Ruby Weapon. This is PC version by the way.

It did work when I equipped Cloud with 3 counter attack materias  though.... so I find it *interesting* that your Final attack works despite having 8 counter attack materias.

Final attack only works if you die you a counter attack thing when you loose all your health why do you think they say always have phoneix combined with final attack because when you die you are brought back to life it is true though about the counter attacks but if you die final attack still works.

That is true provided that you don't have equal or more than 8 Counter-Attack materias equipped on a character. Didn't you read Rubicant's post explaining why the Final Attack materia doesn't work? That's because of the fact that it's also considered as a 'counter attack' materia, which is the reason why it _didn't work_ for him, since he has 12 counterattacks materias used.

One would be pretty stupid enough not to know what the Final Attack materia can do considering that it is pretty obvious. Also note that the author of this post has played FF7 in the past before, and I'm pretty damn sure he knows that Final Attack _will only_ work when the character dies.

Lastly, I'm not here to flame at you or whatsoever... but do the community a favour... please use full stops.. or don't you ever use them? In fact, I think you're already in the forum record books for making the longest one sentence posts.
