Then I don't know what this might be. I don't have the Steam version to check, someone else might know.

Was wondering if anyone could please help me on settting this up on my laptop. I have done it in the past and have got it working, but decided to play again, and it s been some time. I use gtx 670m, nividia optimus. I do have ff7.exe set as running for high perf graphics. My problem is.... ( I followed all steps on tutuorial ), is during the ff7 converer BC, I get ff7config.exe has stopped working. I DID read the FAQ on how to solve that, but am literally computer not so savvy. Basically I would need further advice on how to find the fodule path and download a .dll which I have no idea what that even means. Anyways, I still finished the whole tutorial and tried opening ff7config later and still got the same error. If anyone can help me out, would totally be appreciated!!
Using steam FF7 windows 7, 64bit if that helps.

Okay i've not had some issues to administer as a report before but right now I am ready to speak about them. I have the option for the slow battle swirl effect put in and yet it doesn't do so. It goes normally swift and some areas have blocks on them.  I wish I had screen shots. My field textures are Blackfan+SL1982+facepalmer.  And my texture art for the prelude credits isn't showing right, it's just showing the original.  I clicked check on New Spell Names and it didn't work.  I have Battle Scenes as PNG and LGP checked.  Upscaled Magic checked.  Anyone wanna give me some pointers on what gives the better  areas without any issues?

The aabb1.tex file and .tim file are not present in the install which is the first time this has happened to me using the bootleg. Ok well the game seems to run fine but when I get into combat the screen has a black portion on the bottom half. The battle menu is still there but behind the menu is a black space with no detail. going to add a picture to hopefully get the ball rolling on this issue. I also would like to know if I can offset this problem by attempting to implement some kind of battle menu mod that can give me those files I am missing. http://i.imgur.com/IZA3VzV.png  http://i.imgur.com/un8gwJU.png

Sora123masta, which version of the game do you have, and which OS are you running? This looks like a bad install that probably lacked rights. If it's the Steam version and you installed it in the Steam folder, that can happen, even when running as admin. To fix it you need to uninstall the game and re-download it, then copy it to another folder outside of the Steam folder, install Bootleg there and copy the game back (you might need to restart Steam for it to see you copied the game back).

Iceboundphoenix, the missing texture files are harmless. Many mods remove textures for their models. It's also unrelated to the black bar at the bottom, something I've never seen. Is "new_battle_interface" set to "on" in your config file of Aali's driver? Have you installed anything after Bootleg?

2012 remake edition with Windows 7. I have my UAC turned off and my Norton shut off.  I have the game installed into my games folder where everything can be done without any issues.

Edit: Maybe I forgot to add administrator rights to the bootleg installation and the game. I don't know.  I bought the game from the website and all just maybe lacked rights.

So the process I did was converting ff7 to the 1997 version from the steam release. I then installed the aali 8.1 driver over the one installed by the converter. I made the necessary changes in the .cgf file and registry entry file. From there I ran the bootleg and installed the settings that I will be posting with this response. I made sure not to install ff7 music through the bootleg installation. I then after installing overwritten the aali driver once more made the necessary changes again to insure the new driver was active. Then I installed Anxious Heart to complete the installation. this is the only noticeable problem that I am experiencing. The files that are missing do not appear to be damaging the installation at all? So if the files are the cause for this what might be the bad file that is associated with the battle menu? As seen in the picture I posted the battle menu is fine other than that the background part for the menu is black. If there is such a file can I use a tool to replace that with someones mod? Could this be a resolution glitch? I have tried changing many different settings for resolution to attempt to fix this issue. When I input a command into the .cfg file for aali's driver does these commands need to be in a specific spot in the .cfg file or can they lay where ever? http://i.imgur.com/ctUa2qY.png This picture should be the most relevant of options in bootleg for the issue I am having.

Can anyone confirm that they have installed the Menu Overhaul through Bootleg, overrode Aali 0.7.11b with 0.8.1b, and had the menus display correctly?

Iceboundphoenix, I recommend not doing that. You need to install Bootleg on a fresh install, without installing anything at all before (not Aali's driver and not having converted the game, unless you follow the tutorial, in which case convert it first).

What about my little issue? Any tweaks that need to be done? Again it's a 2012 release.  Windows 7 and all.

Whoops, forgot to reply! I don't know how the Square Enix store version works, but try right-clicking the game folder, click properties and see if "Read-Only" is ticked. If so, try un-ticking it (apply to all files and folders), then hit ok and immediately re-open the properties to check if the flag was effectively disabled (for instance, Steam always puts it back on). Before you do that though, where is your game installed? If it's in the Program Files, the Desktop or in My Documents, install it somewhere else first (then try installing Bootleg again).

I installed it in C:\\Games  xD  Well I did it and it reset it to read-only after I unticked it. :T

Well it was a full square filling the box and I clicked it off. Did the deed and reuploaded the properties to see the box there.

I have never known what caused this. Instead of messing around too much, I usually change folders, and if that works, then that's good. If you can't figure it out you can send me a PM I'll help you troubleshoot this. I have to head out in a few though so it'll be later.

I am going to run the settings like I did normally and will stop trying to re-invent the wheel so to speak. So with the settings I have no are sound files allowed to be tampered with after the bottleg install? Such as swapping out soundtrack files for different versions? Would this mess the install up in any way?

Okay the blue box where the read only thing is,  it's just normal behavior from what I have theorized. I'm going to do a full installation again and switch around some things to fix up the deals.  I appreciate all the help you've given.

Okay here are the screens for my bootleg stuff.  If possible i'd like some major pointers on what would work best.  I've marked a certain screen shot incase anyone may have some better opinions on the textures stuff.

Iceboundphoenix, you can swap music files without any problem.

Sora123masta, if you install Bootleg in a read-only folder, it will fail, or at least some parts will.

Ah, okay.  I just made my games folder non read only but like I said it'll show the blue box where it must be checked. However the effects are active for it to be 100% deactivated.  I'm going to install my stuff now so, just wanted to be sure everything was alright. VGR,  EQ2Alyza. I appreciate all the work and help you've given me and the gaming community.

If you can't disable it, try applying it to all files and folders, then hitting OK. Then try disabling it. If I'm not wrong, a full square means it's only partly enabled.

The full square is normal behavior from what I read.  The effects of removing Read Only do take effect but the square remains. I have learned of this from a microsoft page.  So it's alright.

Okay, made a full reinstallation, and sadly it still does not do the battle swirl limiter or the new spell names.

That is odd. I don't know what might be causing it. I've ran out of ideas!
