No, I need more time to think this all over myself. Cause after all that extra s*hit; got me f*ucked up.
The sound mod is and will always be apart of the overall mod. (6th time saying that?)

Okay, take it easy man, no sweat.

Covarr, he came at me almost threatening to cut my time here short because of the karma count; holding grudges against Fraggoso for what happened long time ago.
No. Like, no!
And for really caring what Lein does with his time.
My expression literally turned into:

for a second!
O-M-G. I don't care! What the hell he does, Covarr!
Thinking I wouldn't be able to come back here after that, I had to deliberate on what would happen here if it were to happen, trick.

So now what happens? What's gonna happen to the mod?  Does it still continue? I hope it does.

If the sound portion is done, then maybe it'd be prudent to release that portion first? IDK, just a suggestion for a precaution.

What the hell happened? Don't tell me the hard drive failed again?

Deliberation -
noun
1. careful consideration before decision.
2. formal consultation or discussion.
3. deliberate quality; leisureliness of movement or action; slowness.

That...what?

With the sound mod on it.
But I remember backing it up before the end of yesterday I'm pissy.
I hope I can f****ucking find it.
that's why that first post said "re" for a while btw.
in the middle of editing it when the failure happened.

Damn, I've been down that road before, do what you can, take your time.

That's why there will be updates to this afterwards. If I find a way, I'll fix it, then there be an update.
I know this horrible sounding,
I'll try my best to fix it.

No worries ^^

Oh nooo xD so you haven't been able to fix it..?

I was thinking that maybe the cause is just a wrong script on which sfx should be played on reflect (which should be edit-able easily), but I guess it's far complicated than that, huh... *sob*

It is what it is, the fixed sounds are great as is, not much we can do about it, I know I'm going to enjoy it regardless.

Fixed or...modded? Unless I misunderstood something, the fixes will include the whole sound mod, right..?
I don't really want the sound mod tbh, I just want to experience this game as original as the psx version, except the 3d models (and it's not really that much that successfully ticks me so far):

- Chocobo's weird cut/lagged "Kweh" (it's as if they're having a hiccup in the middle)
- wrong Reflect sfx
- [not sound] battle command panel (not really a bother so far)
- [not sound] Font
- [not sound] possibly removal of the gray border thing on each side in full screen, just change it to plain black if possible..

I'm still on "disc 2".

Read the OP, that will be standalone, not part of the mod if you don't want it. Those are sound bank files and we just replace three of them. Be patient.

"For just the sounds fix, replace files p0data62.bin + p0data63.bin. Just don't use the original p0data61.bin file with this, it won't make any sense."

Excuse me, I want to ask, are you experiencing wrong sfx used for Reflect..? It seems to be using whatever magic sfx that was cast by the caster instead of the usual "vrrrrmm".

I googled it but it seems only few people report having the same issue (or the majority of player never use Reflect)
Is it possible to fix it..?

All sounds should be fixed, we just wait for completion/release, in due time.   ;D

You want it removed?

*Card games with NPCs want to be removed, speak now or forever hold your peace.*

My mistake, yes, removing them is fine.

They look pretty cool :D I say go for it.

You know that tirlititi is the guy who made Hades Workshop right...? You really PM'ed him because dclem is stating something?
You know that dclem is going around shouting nonesense and then reverting back (and no, I'm not attacking his illness).

I don't know why dclem is behaving that way. I'm working with tirlititi for the last 3-4 months on my Backgrounds and he's so a nice guy.
Even if Ii ask him stupid question 3 times in a row he's not buttercuping at me.

Is the mod in a working state and do you want to release it? If the answer is yes, I don't understand why buttercuping against tirlititi will be making things better...

PMed him back, I didn't see both sides of the story, I must admit but my point still stands that sound effects will be forever broken, and yes, graphics mods are a nice thing and long overdue to fix up/alter. But the music and sound, well, they're integral to the game experience, and if they're never getting fixed, the game is just too painful to listen to thanks to Silicon Studios doing a lousy job; it's pretty evident that SFX is never getting fixed now.

Hi, me. I cared.

I bought FF9 on Steam because I loved the game when it first came out and wanted to experience it again with better graphics and the game boosters. When I tried playing it though it turned out the port was lazy and plagued with bugs. I've lurked, following the work done on this site off and on for months and was overjoyed that someone (you) had actually gone through and fixed the sound effects one by one. This was one of the biggest complaints I had with the port, second only to the garbage analog controls. To hear that you are not releasing what you have done is a devastating blow.

I made an account specifically to implore you, please release the sound effects as a stand-alone package. I would much prefer that if you have it all the sounds would be from FF9, but if there are some from FF12 in there as well I can live with it.

If you are unwilling or unable to do this please could you show me, step by step, how you went through and fixed just 1 of the sound effects so that I can do so on my own with the rest of them.

Don't worry about it, he has since spoken to me and he will release the mod. Be patient.

If it's only some custom SFX's, then no, it's not a bad tradeoff. I wasn't aware of the enormity of the sound effects, so I admit I was wrong for all I said, I won't deny that.  I do wish Square Enix didn't outsource the porting to a company that didn't know what the hell they were doing.  I'm not seeking forgiveness or an apology, but think of this as an admission of being wrong.

You want to know why I was upset? Because I didn't know what was going on, how big the project truly was, because I suck big time at programming, among other things, I can't program worth a damn, *throws up arms in defeat* Sigh...

71
It's the same guy. :/
I'll look into the sfx as soon as I've released my backumod and texture mod for FFIX
Damn -_- Well, I mean, okay, but still. I've had wrong hopes for this since it's the same guy. I hope that something will come of this, I know absolutely nothing about programming, how the AKB headers work, etc.  Thank you though.

Things are as they are, moding is always for personal sake. If you share your work than it might be that you need social appreciation, but if you don't than it's possible that you only need the satisfaction that you can change the game. Either way, you are doing it for yourself.
I also wouldn't waste my time with finding out what is going on in that matter. Try to use Memoria to replace the sound files and ask DLPB how he has done the ripping of the sound from FF7 (as he pointed out the psx changes the sound in real time). This helps you more than going into a senseless discussion with ... well, just leave it.

Well, it's true. FFIX is never going to have proper sound effects, and programming isn't my forte though, the game breaks up sound effects, has weird timing, weird offsets and the AKB header, etc. Someone else would have to do it.

Did I miss something?
http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14315.msg249852#msg249852

That really sounded different.

IDK what's going on, let me look....

Edit: Wait a minute... hold on, gonna PM you.

I really need to learn to read things properly before responding.

Memoria allows for OGG extraction so you can theoretically put your own replacement SFX into the game.

dclem created a custom replacement mod, but has decided not to release it, so that's out the window.
Sharon on Steam was working on replacing the SFX with the PSX version - https://steamcommunity.com/app/377840/discussions/0/133258593389989239/ - but so far, nothing there - I'm presuming you've seen that one too. No further info unfortunately...

Okay, I  knew I was getting them mixed up, but haven't heard anything from the other project in some time, do you know if there any way of contacting that author on Steam or he has an account on here by chance?

Edit: Wait a minute, why do I get the impression it's the same guy? I don't know what's going on anymore ><

75
Not sure where the replacement mod is up to - couldn't find the post about it.

EDITING: I'm a numpty and misread which Final Fantasy this is for...

Is this not the mod or is there no mod and only the one that replaces them with custom SFX? Am I missing something here? What is this post from?

It's also funny that the so-called download link doesn't even work.
