Loveless - a FF7 text editor [v.1 - 2.5]
Did I also mention some option to hide text that isn't actually used in game?

Yep. Planned to implement it.

Gemini has some information on this, I seem to recall some (a vast minority) of the text is flagged as not used when in fact it is, I forget why though...

For example, the text where young cloud is begging Old cloud not to give up the black materia like "Don't be afraid--!"

inside jtemplb is flagged as in use, when in fact the actual used dialogue is found inside jtemplc

in this case both are flagged as in use. As I said, Gemini knows more about this :)  and it is something to watch out for....

If this could be made compatible with PSX version, I would explode with awesomeness.

I am sure Gemini had this problem too.  Basically the boxes for this and certain other dialogue inside md8_3 are not editable inside loveless.

When I edited this and kept the lines the same, the game just hangs there because the box won't go away...

That looks ethically questionable.  A thread-reviving double post.

But then again, a bug report is a valid reason to revive a thread, and you need a new post to bump it, so I guess it's fine.

Yes it was a dilemma...  Then again the author is seldom around so maybe a PM would have been better.  Still, a bug report was needed.

You mean the HUGE BOX problem? Yeah, I had that problem a long time ago, but with the new window reallocation system it's there no more.

How did you solve it (more detail), because I have a feeling that Squall will need the information :)

I add new WSIZE or WINDOW commands for each orphan string. This also takes care of strings with shared windows.

I am very new to this and I'm just starting out editing my ff7 ue on p.c. And this looks like an excellent program I have started to mess around with it a bit but I haven't tested my results yet, I'm attempting to add a bit of flavour to a game I have completed 20+ times (the best game ever) and I just wondered if their was an in-depth tutorial to the program, or a way I can multi change texts that is repeated in ff7 and also I wondered if it was even necessary to change all of the text for example why under the sector 7 slums is there convo's for in the shinra building and if I just change the convo in the shinra building section is that enough or do I have to also change it in the sector 7 slums for it to take affect?
Please help me out with my enquiry.

Just a side point maybe it would be worth placing the game text in the order or as close as possible to the order it is in the game.
And the loveless 2.5v I have on windows xp doesn't fit in to my screen and the windows re-sizing button is so far off screen I can't use it, is there a way for me to change that? Lol sorry if my questions seem lame as I said I'm very new to all this.

But you have done an excellent job on the program, I'd also like to see a multi text change so if I changed a text relating to a conversation anywhere that same conversation was repeated was automatically changed (if that's even possible, maybe I'm just asking for the world). Its just it would take long enough changing all the text in the game never mind doing that up to 8,9 times just for one conversation. Thanks in advanced.

Another bug report, this one is a game breaker.  Certain dialogue boxes are not allowing the game to continue.  Once edited they seem to be broke permanently.  The first one is when Barrett explains the running control.  I have tried everything and it is no go, when I click the message away it seems to think there is 1 last line so it scrolls down to nothing and just stays there for good.

Correction: There were 2 returns under the text, i.e. 2 spaces on separate lines below the text.  The preview window does not show these up, but the game assumes there is a new line there and then hangs.  Would probably be wise for you (squall)  to make the program note if new line spaces/returns are present and show it in the preview window.  This isn't really a bug then, just for future reference to people using loveless:  Make sure there are no spaces or returns under the text you have used!

If you are editing the game text you are better off with makou Reactor or touphscript (if 1998 version)

Well, I can't use touphscript because I try to edit a german manipulated flevel. I used Makou Reactor and it is a nice program but I'm missing the import function for text files.

So i want to see what loveless can^^

Thanks. 4Shared requires registration. I've added it to a Google Drive incase anyone wants this old tool in the future:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzZG8hMrQocwbGhrY1VZaE5pRms/edit?usp=sharing

Edit: This seems to be the best flevel.lgp editor out there. Not sure why it fell out of favour.
