[FF7] Kernel2 editor - Teioh (Missing Download)
« on: 2007-01-11 22:04:03 »
Teioh is a program allowing to edit the texts contained in kernel2 file (like 'Internal Editor' in Cosmo by Ficedula).

Some screenshots (from english kernel2.bin) :

Thanks to Ficedula for his documentation and Qhimm for his LZS compression DLL.

Hey Squall,

just wanted to let you know that when we where translating the game we encountered a size problem. Looks like there is a limit in the file size of kernel2.bin. If i recall correctly it is 27.656 (i don't remember if it's bytes o kbytes :P)

Could it be that some texts are missing? For example i dont see the "fat chocobo"-summon or odins second summon, which he uses against bosses in the list.

Sweet. This is nifty :)

Now "Bio2" and "Bio3" can be "Toxic" and "Sludge Bomb" :D

And "Quake2" and "Quake3" can be "Earthquake" and "Cataclysm"!

You are right there is a file size limit:

I changed things to my liking until it had 16kb. Game was running perfectly.
Then I only changed Tifas Weapon description, it got 17kb and game cant be opened anymore.....
What can we do to prevent that?

Hi The Black-caped Man
I'm currently working on a new version of Loveless and also Teioh (2.2). I will examine this problem and try to fix it.

Thanks :)

Just looking over this and Teioh looks really interesting and fun to use. Did you by chance ever fix fix it up?

Sorry to open old topics.

I just d/laoded and used this quickly, changed a few materia names to match those of FFX (My fave) things such as Thunder/Thundara/Thundaga, Firaga, Blizzara etc... very impressed by it's ease of use, and tomorrow, I'm going to have a proper look at it, and see what it can really do :-)

This is a great program and had trouble finding it (I didn't know an alternate bin editing program existed other than Cosmo).
I'm happy I found it!

(For search reasons, I'll add a couple of keywords so others who were in my situation can find this easily): edit magic names, .bin edit, cosmo doesn't work

Thank you very Much ! I Love your Loveless Software too ^^

Hi,

> Theclad

> auxili160
Well, a find function is maybe a huge function for this little file isn't it ? There is a few texts...

kernel2.bin is simply the 10th to 27th parts of kernel.bin, and didn't exist in the PSX version. It has the names and descriptions of the equipment, items, commands and attacks used by the party.
