Thanks very much for telling me about Junction 8 - its so cool just like 7th Heaven!

I tried to join the discord using the link in your earlier post but it doesn't take me anywhere - do you have a new link please?

Many Thanks

That's fair enough - do you know if there is a quick way I can convert the Tonberry graphic files so they are read by FFnx? I am manually editing the Fields graphics and combining them into one file for each field an giving them the expected name but this takes a very long time...

This is a great tool and has made setting up FF8 to look nicer so much easier - thanks a lot!

I was wondering would you be able to add the following mods for auto-setup as well - it would help complete FF8 to make it look more modern:

Project AngelWing for backgrounds: https://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=17541.0
Project Hellfire for summons: https://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=17320.0
Apocalypse for bosses: https://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=16549.0

Many Thanks

Hi,

I wanted to ask if anyone knows a good way to approach what I'm trying to do, basically converting hi-res field and battle backgrounds so they will work in the old FF8 2000 version (the four disc PC one). FFnx now allows for texture replacements and I've had good luck with things like menus and text but I've had a bit of an issue with field and battle backgrounds...

As an example the first battle in the over-world on the grass plains:

I  was looking at BattlefieldPack_v3-1 mod for the Steam version (tonberry mod) - this contains the folder structure: textures\a0\a0stg101\ then 3 files:
a0stg101_16.png, a0stg101_18.png and a0stg101_20.png

In the 2000 version the texture location for this battlefield is: textures\battle\ and it seems all 3 graphics are combined into one file: A0STG101.X-0_00.png

I've been able to get this to work by editing the hi-res graphics a0stg101_16.png, a0stg101_18.png and a0stg101_20.png so they are all in one file and called it A0STG101.X-0_00.png.

The problem with this is:

1. This takes a very long time.
2. I don't know all the names of the battle field files in the 2000 version (I would have to play through the whole game and dump the textures).

I wanted to know if there was a list somewhere with all the battle file names and if there was a better way of combining these files.

Thanks!

I just wanted to say thanks for the extra IRO links - I found this very handy. One thing I found though was I am unable to download New Threat by Sega Chief, I just keep getting an error - I'm not sure if it is just me or if anyone else has had this issue?
