Long story short: yes. You must choose between IFRIT and ESUI + RT/FT. Just updated the list.

IFRIT it's for who does not want to change much the OG battle UI. But IFRIT might be obsolete very soon if a new mod appears.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.  After dabbling with both, I decided to stick with ESUI.  This was a great list and just the thing to tide me over while i wait for "Rebirth" to drop in 2 weeks.   :D

2
Great list, it's been super helpful!!  One thing:  IFRIT constantly throws out an error complaining it can't confirm compatibility options with Echo-S.  I don't just mean when its installed.  Everytime 7th Heaven runs, a mod is changed, or I try to run the game.  Since I use ESUI + ReTouch, I finally just gave up and removed it.  You have any idea what the problem might have been?

This is the error:

Mod IFRIT - FF7 Interface Tweaks, setting Menu Tweaks - no compatible option can be found. The following mods all restrict how it can be configured:

IFRIT - FF7 Interface Tweaks | (4cbb8a22-3f87-483d-ab8c-81089a875f23)
[Tsunamods] Echo-S 7 | (09e81530-3f09-46b9-831b-df431b8f319c)

EDIT:  The problem is with setting Ifrit to ESUI compatibility mode.  If I switch it to Stock or SYW mode, the error goes away.  That makes me sad.  I could live without Retouched, but I really like ESUI.  Looks like I have to choose between it and Ifrit.  Honestly... is there any reason to choose Ifrit?  I'm not really seeing any.

Whoops, I didn't see your reply!  Here's your soundtrack mod, with names changed to work with Reunion 06.

Installation Instructions
===================

- Extract files to "<FF7 Install Directory>\The_Reunion\CUSTOM\<YourCustomFolderName>\Music".
- Make sure to enable your custom folder in the reunion config file.

I can't drag and drop files to the app.  I have run it as Administrator.  I've run it from my Downloads folder.  I've had to flag it as Safe to Windows Defender.  But no matter what I do, when I try to drag, the cursor turns into a little "Circle with a Slash" symbol.  I can Drag and Drop the files anywhere else.  I have tried dragging the files to the desktop THEN to the app, and nothing works.  I tried installing the runtime files, only to get a "Setup Failed" due to a version already being installed.

EDIT:  Nevermind, turns out Running as Administrator was the cause of the issue.

5
It suddenly worked, on the 4th try, after manually intalling a few non-Qhimm hosted mods.  Weird.

6
So far, i've gotten this error from Qhimm - User Interface and Qhimm - Gameplay, whenever I tried to download them.

I've deleted the failed files from the cache.  Still fails.  I've tried restarting my PC.  Still fails.  *headscratch*

7
It has an Installer program.  Point the installer to the directory 7th Heaven mods are stored in (usually "<FF7 Install Path\mods\7th Heaven\").

There should be a button labeled "create IRO using PNG".  Use that, and wait.  When its done, the next time you load 7th Heaven, it should be there.  Activate as normal.

8
tbh both reunion and 7th heaven have come a long way in a short amount of time, there was a time when 7th heaven was completely unsupported before the people working on it now took up the project, and reunion ro6f  is leaps and bounds ahead of when plain r06 was released ( probably because i helped beta test it  8-) )

but anyway, if you just unpack the .iro with ironite, the files are already named appropriately (or at least they were when i downloaded this mod) and then just stick em in Global>music or Custom/(your mod id)/music  mine is in the latter and i assure you if you do it right, it works

I tried installing it again, using IroNite, and putting it in my Custom/Music folder.  It does not work.

EDIT:  I did as Bynyl advised, and renamed them to match the files in the BASE\Music directory, the installed them to my Custom directory.  That works.  I zipped and backed it up so I wouldn't have to do that again.  I'd be happy to share it if Bynyl approves.

Releases / Re: [FF7PC-98/Steam] New Threat Mod (v1.5)
« on: 2020-05-18 21:43:34 »
The Restore Materia at the start was left its default cyan colour, I didn't swap in the Green materia model for it so that's fine. Steal can be bought from shops later on, but are you sure you didn't just run past it? Maybe one of those model mods made it difficult to see or something.

Added Effect combines the status ailment of the Materia to either the weapon (inflicts, about 12% chance or so) or the armour (protects completely).

The documentation I used to have for the mod fell more and more out of date over time. The current one is like a placeholder of sorts.

2.0 is in the works, but it won't be compatible with save files from 1.5 as I've reworked the unused variables that NT uses in the mod to add additional drops, rescript scenes, etc. A 2.0 save file will be compatible with a vanilla game, but not with the 1.5 build unfortunately. As for timeframe for release, I'm not sure. Several weeks is my best guess.

Neat!  *adds that to Notes*

Oh.  Oh.  Damn.  I... kinda want to wait.  I wish my Reunion build had been more stable but it kept crashing randomly exiting or entering battles.  I guess I'll go with a Vanilla run, or maybe back to NVT for the time being, and save a full NV run for the heady days of 2.0 ahead.

For physicals, you want to be using Elemental to 2x the damage they deal; a lot of the Materia had elements added (Holy to Restore/Revive, for instance) to take better advantage of that. Back row should be avoided if the character doesn't have a ranged weapon (and Barret has a case for front row even if using a gun as his innate changes to a strength boost).

In the Bottomswell fight, assuming it was the normal mode one, it's the ideal time to try out the first Summon Choco/Mog as the boss is weak to wind. It can either be used early to skip ahead from the initial phases (tail attacks, etc.) or later on when Waterpolo bubbles are getting sent out as it'll hit both the boss and the bubble.

This boss can also be poisoned; if you have a handle on things defensively, then you can cast Haste on the boss to accelerate the poison damage (whereas Slow decreases it as the ticks proc less frequently).

I think in your set-up that Aeris would have been a better shoe-in for the Bolt Materia as her Magic stat will typically be higher at this point (depends on the rank-up options that were picked, if one was available when it was unlocked). It'd be a good idea to pick up a 2nd Bolt Materia somewhere as there are a lot of mechanical bosses in this game and having it for Elemental/casting is always handy.

Holy crap, so that's what that means in the materia description!  I was wondering!  What is "Added Effect" materia specifically used for?  Does it add Poison to a weapon?

Okay, I'm making notes for the future.  This mod really needs a comprehensive guide.  I tried using the Documentation spreadsheet, but many of its location entries are blank (I found out you get Full MEtal Staff by Morphing Hell House from a youtube video).

There's a 2.0 version coming?!  ... Maybe I should just wait for it to drop?  Or will it be something that 1.5 can be upgraded mid-run without issue?

I have found this guy has some videos out there for most boss fights on arranged mode. Helps me when I am running into fights that I cannot figure out.

Ah, I see, they used a Dirty Bomb to poision it, which basically cut the fight in half.  Playlist saved.  Thanks!

I was afraid of that.

It doesn't matter.  Reunion kept having crashes while my 7th Heaven install doesn't.  I'll miss the improved translation but stability trumps all.

Y'know, in all my digging through this forum this week, I found a post of the Reunion's author trashing the old version of 7th Heaven.  While I do have a vague recollection of it being a bit of a mess, and turning me off of FF7 modding at the time, I find it ironic that the new 7th Heaven is almost as user-friendly as Mod Organizer 2 (for Bethesda games), while Reunion is super unfriendly to anything not designed specifically for it.

So I ploughed through the first several hours of my first NT playthrough.  Got to Junon.  Up till that point, everything had been copacetic.  Fights took some thought.  Bosses were tougher, but not unreasonably so.  I was still feeling a bit overwhelmed, but I was managing.

Then came the boss fight to save Priscilla.  I was level 21, decently geared (as much as I could be, I'd barely seen any weapon or armor upgrades; nearly all the armor was offering stat boosts in exchange for non-existent protection, basically turning them into another set of accessories, just with materia sockets).  I'd kitted out character with materia befitting their party roles.

So first go, it's with Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith.  I give up after 15 minutes of barely holding on while it hits me for 3-500 HP per hit, which nearly one-shots the ladies.  Barret had my Barrier materia so I had no defenses.  Melee couldn't hit it, and the only attack spells we had were Fire, and 2 Ice, which weren't doing tons of damage.

So, I restart, switch Tifa out for Barret and juggle some spell materia to give everyone something to use.  I try the fight again, and it quickly settles into a pattern:  Cloud hits it with Bolt, Aerith with Ice, and Barret keeps everyone Shielded and Hasted.  Aerith heals as needed, and LBs get fired off regularly.  Now the fight isn't anywhere near as tense as the Barrier materia cuts the damage down, and Cloud is also a secondary healer, so between him and Aerith, everyone stays up.

Rinse and repeat for nearly 20 minutes.

Um, what am I doing wrong?  Or is every boss fight going to be like this now?  Many of the random encounters have hit the point where physical attacks are basically the worst thing I can use, and its all spell-casting, all the time now.  Is that normal, too?  If there' some blindingly obvious things I'm missing, I'm eager to learn what to do.  Right now, as it stands, this mod has gone from entertainingly challenging, to a tedious slog once I cleared the Mythril Mines.

i made the border a few days ago (and am still working on it) and the icons i just did today (just now fixed a few spacing issues and touched up the feather...should be done now)

patience, my friend!  :-D

Oh, I know!  I'm not expecting it anytime soon.  But I've got 2 FF7 installs at the moment, one with Reunion, and one with 7th Heaven + New Threat.  The only thing left I feel like my Reunion install needs to be perfect is something akin to ESUI 2.0.

Could start with NT and then if it doesn't pan out, swap it out for the vanilla version. The save file between them should be fine.

Really? I'd think it would break everything, but you're the mod maker. You know a lot more than I do!  Why not, I'll give it a shot.

I tested an IRO and seems to be OK, I've uploaded it and will replace the link:
https://mega.nz/file/Xgt3VbpI#0ZmgffgQhNq8QgRHZEr8soSfvVsYCaLfmkZnusMFdhc

This one should specifically state NT Vanilla Combat version when selecting new game.

That worked!  I got the same pop-ups as gameplay 3.0 but the random battles were actually right!  Thank you!

Now I'm torn over whether to go with Vanilla or Regular New Threat.  Maybe if I'd been playing the game regularly for the last 20 years I'd be craving a complete overhaul, but I think I last played FF7 in 2005 or 2007.  But I have enjoyed my 2 hours with it so far.  *wrestles with indecision*

So in NT Vanilla, you get a dialogue revamp, some optional cutscene skips (Jessies Midgar explanation on the train, Nibelheum flashback, etc.), and some extra restored scenes that were defunct in the game files. Anything related to new battles however, like the Disc 3 stuff, has been deactivated though so it's a skeleton of the mod in terms of content. You may see some references to NT systems like the rank up system, or character innate explanations when they join, but none of them are active (SP system might be though, but it's optional).

Interesting.  I'd like to try it, but I can't seem to make it work.  I tried using the NTV IRO from the first page, and ... nothing happens.  No errors, no nothing, but nothing seems changed either.  So I tried using the Gameplay 3.0 mod from the Qhimm catalog, and selecting NTV option under its difficulty tab.  THAT actually seems to work at first glance, as I get starting pop-ups and explanations of Cloud's abilities, but the first combat encounter isn't with Trooper Trainees but creatures and on a Midgar exterior field.  So clearly, that's borked.

On a whim, I tried running the default New Threat IRO, and played about an hour into it.  THAT seems to work just fine, though.  *headscratch*  I'm tempted to just go with the regular mod, but reading the Documentation spreadsheet is more than a tad overwhelming.  I hate to say it, but is there a walkthrough for this mod on Neoseeker or Gamefaqs?  *laughs* (no, there isn't, I looked).

instead of dicking around with changing the color palettes of the original images, i've photoshopped new icons into the game  (all sticking with gray scale for the most part)

however, i've put in the icons on top of Panteleimon's mod, so i cant post the files for others to use atm, i had to modify the mod a bit and shrink the item bag and cloud's sword icon to match the size of the ones i did (these icons are separate for some reason, in a different file)

So is there a more comprehensive list of details on "New Threat Vanilla"?  I've not played FF7 in 10+ years, and I was never a master of it, so I'm not looking so much for additional combat challenge as I am the improved translation and restored content.  Is that all NTV is, or does it include the other mechanical changes (such as to AI, materia, and character stats, and Mr. Smile), and only omits the new enemies?

Download either PSX buttons support .zip or XBOX buttons .zip archive. Then unpack that archive to the "...\The_Reunion\GLOBAL\Texture" directory (so "menu" folder from .zip should replace "menu" folder in ...\Texture directory, and "flevel" should replace "flevel"). It is the easiest way.

Thanks!

Finally, an OST mod that doesn't give me whiplash when an original track plays.  This manages to be both improved, and yet true enough to the original that its incomplete status isn't jarring and irritating.  Great job!

EDIT:  Okay, I'm having an odd issue.  I can't get this mod to work with Reunion, at all.

I tried installing it to "<basedir>/data/Music_ogg/".  Doesn't work.

Then I tried installing it to "<basedir>/Reunion/CUSTOM/<my_mod_id>" along with a couple other minor mods. Those mods work.  This mod still won't.  Um, what am i doing wrong?

22
And after some more diligent searching, I finally found an answer.  I don't see a way to edit my previous post, so here's a new one.

For who is playing Reunion 06c and had my same questions/issues please see below.
I thought was fine to share and help:

1) I dunno how to add my favourite mod :c
Simply download your favourite mod, per example let's download any remastered field and copy paste all the field folders in The_Reunion, CUSTOM, yourmodname, Texture, field
C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII Steam Edition\The_Reunion\CUSTOM\yourmodname\Texture\field
then go in The Reunion folder and open Options.ini make sure you write this right Mod_ID = yourmodname
save it and play the game.

Now, the above you can apply for any other textures or mod, per example:
-Avatars goes in CUSTOM\yourmodname\Texture\menu
-Prelude screen goes in CUSTOM\yourmodname\Texture\cr
-Thinbars (from Menu_Enhanced_Stock_UI_1.0) goes in CUSTOM\yourmodname\Texture\menu (this is not fully compatible though)
-Upscaled Movies goes in CUSTOM\yourmodname\Direct\movies
-Upscaled Magics see number 4 below.
-Upscaled Battle Textures (584 files, ENEMY, STAGE, etc.) goes in CUSTOM\yourmodname\Texture\battle
-etc.

2) I dunhave numpad, pointer is not moving, got a problem with input/keyboard, cannot start teh game :c
Simply download this file and place it in your FFVII root folder. Not yet working? Well then play with joystick.

2-bis) I would like to play with the D-Pad on the joystick and not with analog sticks. :c
Simply use a 3rd party mapping tool JoyToKey and set/ your POV as "UP arrow" clicking the same ↑ from your keyboard, do the same for the other buttons, save the setting, keep open the software and play the game. Now you can use D-pad on your joystick.

3) My mod it's in .iro format I dunno what to do :c
Simply download IroNite and extract the files with it, now you can place and use the mod as mentioned above in point 1.

4) My Upscaled Magic textures aren't loading, I dunno what to do :c
Simply place these files "RAIN7, SEFFECT1, SEFFECT2, SEFFECT3, etc." (82 files total) into following folder:
C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII Steam Edition\The_Reunion\CUSTOM\yourmodname\Texture\battle
Instead for the subfolders such as "blue, limit, limit2, limit3, magic, special, summon, weapon" (8 folders total) + "amax, a1, alex1, alex2, etc." (1522 files total) into following folder:
C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII Steam Edition\The_Reunion\CUSTOM\yourmodname\Texture\magic
then go in The Reunion folder and open Options.ini make sure you write this right Mod_ID = yourmodname
save it and play the game.

5) Screen tearing issue
Simply make sure the option vsync is on y (yes) inside your Options.ini file.
Save Options.ini and play.
What is it and other solutions:
- https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/114598-borderless-windowed-mode-forced-fullscreen-script-toggle/
- http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=15214.msg212938#msg212938

6) I downloaded the translation in my own language (not english), I don't know how to use it :c
Simply go in:
C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII Steam Edition\The_Reunion\BASE\New_Translation
Rename New_Translation in New_Translation_Eng (to have a backup) then proceed with moving the translation in your language inside the aforementioned folder and ensure name will be New_Translation; as well make sure that the option New Translation is on y (yes) inside your Options.ini file.
However note that the Translation in your language should have a proper R06c porting created by the modder to be compatible with Reunion otherwise it's useless. Save Options.ini and play.

-Please note if you changed translation in your language certain files if not loaded should be moved to the following folder:
(ONLY applied for Italian porting so far)

C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII Steam Edition\The_Reunion\GLOBAL\Texture\menu
The above it's for the avatar for example. While for magic you will move to:
C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII Steam Edition\The_Reunion\GLOBAL\texture\battle
C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII Steam Edition\The_Reunion\GLOBAL\texture\magic

Also ALWAYS make sure to read FULLY the first post and the help file of Reunion.

23
I'd like instructions on adding mods in the Custom folder in Reunion, in general.  This seems to be something everyone knows, but no one explains, at least that I can find.

24
I've generated an IRO of this mod, but am brand new here and am unsure of the etiquette in just posting a link to it.

EDIT:  I made my version transparent without borders.  So far it doesn't seem to have the issue reported with Reiletuag's.
