Would do so if I could. I think it's a bit late now, though. On the plus side he is going to buy me my own external hard drive. :3. Simply, because I don't think he wants me to use his. XD.

Troubleshooting / Re: error fail to load AAFE.aki
« on: 2012-04-25 02:55:09 »
You could always open up the games original field file and pull the original AAFE.aki file and put it in your new field file. LGP I think? It's been so long. I used to get that error all the time when I did field mods. o.o.

Nah he deleted a mass amount of files, things he though were his. And emptied to the recycle bin, basically everything I had on the external hard drive. :P. All my pics </3.

I might, I've playing Neverwinter Nights lately. I've yet to touch the copy of Skyrim I bought... And mass effect. Lol... I have a lot of games on my list right now. To be honest, I really don't feel like playing them much either. ._.

I missed the feel of an older game, like Final Fantasy VII or VIII, but nothing beats my beloved Suikoden II ;).

How be you, world of Qhimm? I'd nearly forgotten about you all, until my grandpa deleted my folder of final fantasy VII mods by mistake, which wasn't really a big deal as I hadn't touched the game in a year or two, really. But, yes, hello!

I for some reason am amused by where you placed most of the polygons, Timu ;).

Completely Unrelated / Re: Anyone get Skyrim yet?
« on: 2011-11-15 23:53:39 »
To be honest I am surprised that this is my first post in ages, haha: but here is my opinion on Skyrim.

Graphics:

A big step up from the last Elder Scrolls Game, yes, but there are still a lot of spots in the game where the UV's are choppy: like half a rock appearing out of the dirt and the edge is perfectly straight which makes it look unnatural. On the all the graphics make the world very interesting and add to the immersion. The world is just plain fun to look at and explore. That being said they could have done a lot better; over all it feels slightly rushed, but still a very pretty game.

Game play:

The battle system is fun; the dual triggers thing pleased me. Still your standard hack and slash Elder Scrolls game though.
The magic system is a BIG yes, the saving factor of the whole game in my opinion. They have spells that actually interact with the environment around (e.g. the trap spells, and chain lightning.).

The down side being, the NPCs are not lippy enough; I mean all the quests seem too quick, and rushed. Which makes the whole experience reek of a mediocre game. The only NPCs I found interesting were the guards; they actually react to your style of play. If you play a player who is based in conjuration they actually remark on your "summoning" abilities.

The User Interface:

Simply put, disgusting. It's just a list. Plain and simple. Also the compass is in your face and breaks the immersion for me.

Crappy Port:

It is meant to be played on a council. Xbox 360, ps3. It wasn't made fully for the PC; it is playable, but clunky. The user interface doesn't react well to the mouse, I find myself stuck using the keyboard; and for the Love of God you cannot rotate the objects in the viewing screen: which was so blatantly emphasized at the E3 game play teaser.

Story:

Disappointing, and cliche' and overly rushed. I've come to expect more from a Bethesda game.

End Notes:

On the all it's not a game I consider worth my money. However, I am looking forward to when the modding tools of this game come out; the base Bethesda made makes me quite excited to see what some clever individuals can come up with. (User interface fixes, proper PC play-ability, smooth out some of the graphical problems and new quests.)

That is my opinion of Skyrim: I haven't fully finished the game, but this is the vibe I am getting so far.

I can't remember if that blue truck, from the Shinra escape scene had one wheel in the back, but it looks more truck shaped to me.

I didn't see the next page of replies. LOL.

Completely Unrelated / Re: Jeffdamann's Terraria Sevrer
« on: 2011-08-10 02:24:13 »
I have played both this and Minecraft, both games are as someone above said are good little time wasters. But both games are drastically different when game play comes into question. Minecraft is mainly about building and well obtaining resources. Terraria, while possessing some of those factors is more about the exploration and cooperative play. Some of the boss fights in it are extremely difficult and cannot be tackled with a single player. Though Terraria's battle system maybe slightly clunky, as of now the over all game is far more developed than minecraft, as well as incorporates RPG elements, such as magic. It also gives you far more options crafting wise, and item wise.

That all being said, both games aren't that much fun to play alone in. The biggest problem with minecraft is it's buggy coding, and multi-player is a pain to deal with unless you have an excellent computer, and even then servers tend to lag terribly. Terraria's multi-player is far superior.

Not my favorite games, but I sure as hell wouldn't rule them out either. They have provided a lot of fun for me, but I only play when my friends do. Haha. *shrugs*

I just get slightly peeved when people compare Terraria to Minecraft, though similar, they are two completely different games.

I know that it is possible, though.  I've worked with people on a mod where they did this before, but that was some time ago. Now, I can't quite remember how they did it.

Hello there, I was working on a mod, and I was wondering if its possible to change the model that loads for each character, such as making Cloud load SIAA , and Young Cloud load RTAA, if thats possible. That is without  going into the LGP itself, and renaming all of SIAA to fit the RTAA counterparts, I want a purely scripting solution.

Thanks,

Solved Problems / Re: Final Fantasy 7 Can't read disc

Try re-mounting the image. I get the same problem using Daemon tools.

The file reconstruction project ought to help you out there. But, Vincent is a sticky model to mess with, since he has more than one battle skeleton. He has three if I recall correctly, but don't trust me, I haven't touched the stuff in about a year now. I just know he had a model type for each gun base he used (hand guns, shot guns, etc.).

I do know his base model is sfaa, off hand. But I don't know the others.
Hope that helps.

*edit*

I had a stupid!! You wanted field data, not battle. XD.
Sorry, I just woke up.

Here is the info you want:
His HRC file is aehd, there are several p. files and animations. If you want to look that up the rest, open the model in kimera and just click on the individual parts. Or just check the File reconstruction project.

(or just open the HRC, and save it to a different folder, and there you have all the files you need.)
Sorry, I am a bit ditzy. Tried to help, not sure if I succeeded. :p

General Discussion / Re: Final Fantasy VIII - opinions?
« on: 2011-04-11 00:32:56 »
The only problem I see with VIII is the draw system, which works in my opinion, if you don't abuse it. And by abuse it, I mean sit  there and draw 100 fires all at once, you draw as you go. :P. It's just they made the battle system so easy to break, such as leaving Squall dead the whole game.
But, the storyline was pretty magnificent, a tad confusing, but hey, what good story doesn't have plot twists? ;P

Also Laguna just happens to be my all time favorite video game character :P. I also tend to like games with cyber punk themes.
Yeah... That's about it. XD.

Thanks,
Mendel

Releases / Re: [RELEASE] Field Cloud CHIBI upgrade
« on: 2011-03-06 02:34:17 »
Oh boy this brings back a lot of memories. Haha. The idea is really fun to tinker with, updating chibis from pre-existing parts in the game, but I personally think it looks tacky if you blend styles. The arms from the APZ model stand out to me. No offense, just some constructive criticism.

Secondly, Cloud doesn't have two metal arm bands, only one, as well as his gloves being different, but I don't know if that was even portrayed in the original battle model or not.

Also, I don't know the specifics, but I thought APZ didn't want others to redistribute his work, edited or not. His model may have been taken down. But, it is still his intellectual property, at least the arms from that model are. So I don't know if you can release or not. Not really my place to tell you to take it down though. ^_^.

That all being said, your model is turning out quite decently so far. I would say make the eyes a little taller. The eyes are too small to be chibi. Chibis are cute. ;P.

But, again so far so good, a little tweaking, a little bit more mixing and mashing of parts, and it might go somewhere! :)
Good luck, and hopefully you'll do more than just Cloud, cause  to be honest Cloud has been painfully over done. :O.

Thanks for the edit though, and thanks for the effort. :).
Good Luck,

Looks like a pretty awesome game. I am reminded vaguely of Call of Cthulu for some reason, wrong time periods I suppose, though. Haha.
Still I love the whole old fashion feel to it. :).

Completely Unrelated / Re: Man vs Computer
« on: 2011-02-15 00:36:02 »
I wouldn't bet on it.  IBM cheated Kasparov out of that chess game with behind the scenes intimidation and the way they pretended it was for science when really it was a big ego profit booster.  They refused a rematch, and kasparov destroyed Deep Blue in game 2.  Computers are still number crunchers, which is why they perform so badly at Go.

They have a computer program that plays Go at dan levels now, it gives some low level professionals a run for their money. Haha.
Or so I am told. I saw the program in action, but it was only playing a mid level kyu.

Glad you solved your problem. However, that still doesn't make it right to insult us for TRYING to help you. Even if we don't succeed. You came to us, not the reverse. This is a modding community. I can't claim to be any expert, as my knowledge is very limited as well.

And suit yourself, I am not going to tell you what to do, I was just giving you a suggestion based on my past experiences. And his "claims" are true, what good is functionality if the program corrupts files?

This is a lot of trial and error, we can't know what specifically is wrong with your files, so YOU ARE VERY WELCOME, we are merely trying to help.
Even if we haven't succeeded, which we have obviously. Maybe not me, maybe not Bear, but your problem has been solved, it was a group effort.

Again, I am glad you solved your problem :).

121
I haven't quite read all of what has transpired, but lighten up a bit Kuugen. He is only attempting to help you solve your problem, you don't need to get angry at him.

As for the program itself LGP/UNLGP is superior to LGP tools because LGP tools has a tenancy to corrupt the LGP files, or maybe it was just the Magic.LGP, I am not entirely certain. As for your hardcore scene, have you actually tried using the UNLGP program to unpack the the flevel file and then recompiling it with the LGP binary? If not, you should. When I modded FF7 I had a lot of trouble with LGP tools, and the LGP and UNLGP tool made by Aali made all the difference.

Again, I haven't touched it in quite some time, so I may not have my facts straight.
And there was another one that I used, that worked. Not the installer made by sithlord48, but just the files produced by aali, using batch files to run them. And the reason we don't link you to it, is because we don't want to go searching through the forums to find it, we merely point you in the right direction so you can you use the search function for its intended purpose (Even if the search function has been faulty lately...).

But, again we are only attempting to help you, you shouldn't attack us because our results aren't satisfactory... It's not like we're being paid.
When it comes down to it, if you have a problem you really have to learn how to fix it yourself. We are here to help you along the way as a modding community, but you can't rely solely on us to fix all of your problems.

Thanks,
Mendelevium

Professional Troll. I wonder if it's someone we've seen before..?

Or possibly even someone who's currently a member? It's happened before.

Mendelevium never was a troll.  He just had way too many identities for one person, that's all :P

EDIT: Forget it, he can't spell "deceived" correctly.  He must be a troll >:(

o_o, oh yes, yes. If the definition of troll is "someone who has poor grammatical sense."
Then I am definitely one. ^_^.

Not true Ultima Espio, you did it for yourself, us (being the members of Qhimm), and anyone else who is an Aeris fan. You can't let people's immature stabs get to you anymore than *insert witty analogy*.

You didn't do it for no reason. You have a fan base here, I am sure. ^_^.

Hope it helped. :O
