the overhaul itself doesn't include any new graphics beside the new models from gjoerulvs hardcore mod.  This mod replaces the kernel, scene.bin, flevel and the .exe as well as the music folder because it forces a new OST. bootleg doesn't require you to have the full list of mods. you can just install nightmare.

General Discussion / Re: Monty Oum still got it!!! ;)

How is this in ANY WAY final fantasy related?

228
formation AI is not where the monster AI is stored. thats only important for extremely few fights in the game
too tired to remember the exact tab off my head but its enemy management from the main window I think

229
I'm declaring it awful
simply because there is a good reason controllers have traditionally had 2-8 buttons and an analog pad FOR GOOD REASONS

230
Open Proud Clod
Open your scene.bin inside data/battle
Guard Scorpion is Monster #2 in scene 81. remember that.

The Dragon is monster #1 in scene 149
Go to scene 149
Enemy Management -> Copy Dragon
Go to scene 81
Enemy Management -> Paste into Slot 1 ( Monster 2 is slot 1 because monster 1 is slot 0 )
Go to Scene Data Management -> Animations/Formations -> Formation
In scene 81, the Guard Scorpion battle is the first Form. ( 0144 )
Now you manually copy the data from scene 149 ( Scene Data Management -> Animation/Formations -> Formation, Form 4 aka 0257 ) to the other form. ( This is easiest done by making a screencap of it or opening a second proud clod just for viewing. ) The exceptions to this is the data in:
Flags - Escape Counter - Next Battle and Background
This includes camera positions, formation ID and so forth ( only everything under the form tab, and only form the form ( 0144 ) of the guard scorpion

If you cant get this to work I'll take a look and maybe upload a working scene 81 when I have time

231
dont use Hojo
Proud Clod does everything that Hojo does ( with ONE exception and thats related to item drops and only relevant if you want them to drop items that are not normally in the game, i.e. the dummy slots ) and it does it better.
What exactly do you want to do? Have the guard scorpion replaced with the regular dragon from Nibelheim?
If I get bored later today I'll just write up a step by step for what to do

FF7 Tools / Re: Loveless - a FF7 text editor [v2.5]
« on: 2013-09-26 08:26:57 »
I don't remember the exact reason but I'm pretty sure it was because the scene was not vanilla, i.e. custom text lines that would have to be stripped and stuff. its really been a long time. a year, maybe?
and tbh, I never cared enough to test it again. Nowadays I need to know who says the line in the field script, under what circumstances and then what is next / after. Makou Reactor is just the only thing that does allow editing that way reliably.

TS didn't work on heavily modded flevels when I tried to use it. Loveless worked.
So there is that.
Makou Reactor does a good job at that too, though, I remember I ony needed Loveless for very specific scenes that would end up corrupted if I edited them with MR. Both are more comfortable to use than TS because you have a direct preview of your text where as with TS you don't. And I mean preview as in "shows up ingame like this" not "you typo'd there"

235
You can just change the actual enemy in the scene.bin ( copy the dragon over, inclusive AI, and assign him instead of the guard scorpion to the formation ID )

Also what you want is to change either a gateway exit point and make a scene jump to a different field, where you will need to account for gamemmoment variables being different so you dont trigger the actual shinra HQ events. Then you need new dialogue and such and that has to be coded into the field script
its not too difficult actually. Someone that knows what they're doing could probably write this and test it in 3-4 hours total time.

236
you need the discs ( real or images ) mounted ( or in your CD drive ) to run the game
this isn't limited to my mod though, thats just how FF7 works

237
If you want ungodly hard there is a mod thats perfect for you

General Discussion / Re: Remastered???

Nobody bothered to keep the 'remix mod' updated as it was a buggy piece of crap.
No idea what remastered does. Was that under game modes? If so thats a slightly adjusted difficulty thing, I suppose.

Oh god, I'm laughing so hard.
I'm only a bit sad halkun already said all the important things but it might be funny to take his post and rub it in their faces.
But yes.
>Collect money to make X of IP you don't own
Dumb
>Ask for HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS
Atomic Stupidity.
>SELL MERCHANDISE OF THE IP YOU DON'T OWN
Do we know anything about a physical phenomena where something is so concentrated that it's beyond the eye of a black hole? Because that is the level of stupid we're looking at right here.

What was gonna be next, selling DVDs?

>"This was going to be non-profit!"
I don't know, isn't selling merchandise sorta making a profit?

>"SquareEnix didn't even talk to us!"
They: multi-billion dollar company
You: random ( and very stupid at that ) people on the internet that don't understand copyright law and intellectual property.

>"We just wanted permission"
See the part above in parenthesis.

Please, MORE, show me MORE of these people. HA. HAHAHAHA.

edit: Oh yeah, I will see everyone supportive of this as being equally dumb as the people starting it.

Gameplay / Re: gjoerulv's hardcore mod guides? FF VII
« on: 2013-09-07 11:39:00 »
slow on him, barrier+mbarrier on myself
boosted myself with dragon force ( cloud ) who also had a mastered cover materia, a counter materia paired with deathblow and 2 HP+ materia. could be that I had added-effect+odin in armor + ribbon but not sure ( 2 stars each )
Cloud used defend, Aerith MP drained him with magic hammer and Tifa healed. Aerith went to move on using level 3 spells while cloud kept taking the physical hits with ease, tifa kept healing and aerith nuked him.

I found an old savefile from hardcore and tried this. was easy. I was lvl 41.

Judging by what you said, you were just bruteforcing the bosses instead of trying to win with strategy and the red dragon forced you to use strategy now.
I'd say thats not missing a materia ( to possibly beat it ) but rather limited thinking
I forgot what I did to the dragon when playing hardcore.

General Discussion / Re: Party follows like ff8??
« on: 2013-09-06 06:16:14 »
It's a looped code and could be inserted but is pretty damn annoying tbh because you need to give them spawn coordinates and special scripts for stuff like ladders. The original code is from cloudiar though, I adjusted the beta code to be less buggy. ( and it still is somewhat buggy )
possible? yes
is someone gonna bother? Probably not.

243
urg, I know I fixed them for N7 but its been so long that I dont remember where exactly the problems were
I know for sure that there were problems in the glacier, either inside or / and outside the wood hut
there are a handful of scenes were the code didn't function properly due to inserted bytes and the jumps had to be adjusted ( in old Makou reactor )

I don't recall having to have one specific materia.
you must be doing something wrong.

I'm keeping such a close eye on this that I will definitely make a full blown hack with this eventually. FF9 is my favorite FF game ever.

246
we'd need to know what mods you installed.

247
the experience gain is not related to the flevel at all. this is all in the kernel.

Quote
>enemy A gives 100 exp without bonus exp
>with expl plus it will display enemy A gives 150 exp but my characters will get 110 exp

You are getting the correct amount of experience. I haven't found the display data to change it but 110exp is 10% more than you normally get and that is normal while you have one exp+ with 1 star or 2 stars

I actually don't remember if you need exp+ on every character. someone else would need to answer that. But I THINK you don't.

248
I heavily doubt the torrent has the latest flevel

I wonder what the problem with the Materia Keeper is then. I mean, it cant be a vanilla issue so I really wonder what mod could be causing it.

I'm slightly confused by the exp+ materia now.
at lvl 1 and 2, it should be 10% extra, at lvl 3 it should be 20% extra and at master ( lvl 4 ) it should be 30% extra
I know this stacks until the cap, which I forgot how high it was. the display info of the materia is probably wrong.
