You have made two different gamefolders, one in
   I:\Games\FF7Mods\Steam\steamapps\common\Final Fantasy VII     (WRONG !)
an other in
   I:\Steam\steamapps\common\Final Fantasy VII   (seems to be the correct one)

Try to start bootloader from the correct folder.
If that works you have to delete the icon from the desktop and create a new shortcut.
But I fear that your registry is messed up...

Looks like the link in my Tutorial was taken down. It used GC v.10b and you're using the new GC v.11. The main difference is that .11 implements Aali's 0.8.1b, which isn't fully compatible yet with Bootleg040.
Bootleg040 instaled Aali's driver 0.7.11 about it, so no problem.
The ff7_opengl.fgd has a date stamp of 2011 (see last picture).

Just tested, works! (0.7.11b IS installed !)

also when i enter the ff7 config i get an error every time i select the graphics tab says "ff7.exe is missing" and that "ff7 isnt installed correctly". how do i fix these?
Make even a picture of your games folder and put it in here.

May helpful to install Aali's Custom Driver with my Installer

I'm not familiar with wine or ubuntu.

The Game Converter is a self-extracting rar archive.
You can unpack it with an appropriate decompressor.
The batch file 'FF7_GameConverter_0.11.bat' must be started with admin rights.
However, I do not know if all the commands under Wine work just like in Windows  :P

                    Aali's Custom Driver FF7/FF8 Installer
               (Custom Driver (Version 0.8.1b) made by Aali, Installer made by Kompass63)

You must also download Aali's Custom graphics driver [v0.8.1b] from this page.
Put ff7_opengl-0.8.1b.zip and Install_Aali-s_opengl_driver_0.8.1b.exe into the same Place and run the Installer.

Warning:
  The graphics driver within the Windows installations DVD does not support OpenGL 2.0 or higher!
  If you see inside the app.log this Line:
         INFO: Microsoft Corporation GDI Generic 1.1.0
  then
  Update your graphics driver!



This installer installs the Custom Driver for both FF7 (1998) as well as FF8 (2000).
The Custom Driver is not suitable for the newer versions (Rerelease or Steamrelease) of this games.
If you have a newer version of FF7, this can be converted using a converter into the old version.

This installer installs also "FF7Config.exe" together with "RunFFVIIConfig.exe" (for FF7 only).
The latter ensures that the Custom Driver is again entered into the Registry after FF7Config was executed.

Hi, after running the game converter (I have the steam version of FF7) I get two new shortcuts on my desktop. However when I try to run them I get an error saying "No registry key found. Please reinstall the game".

I've fixed the error with the Icons. Please use GC_0.11.

If Aalis driver works, even the old movies should work (movie_plugin).
With the K-Lite Codec Pack 10.4.3 the movies work without Aalis driver.

Why Aalis driver might not work, read here and here.

I fear that exceeds my knowledge.
I've never really dedicated myself to programming in high level languages.

A little bit Command Line Scripting is all I can.
If it is only a matter Aalis driver to switch on and off or to exchange one set of keys that would go with Command Line.
Then you do not need to change the location of the keys, you exchanges the values of the keys.

By the way, I could see 26 entries of the dx_snd.cpp within the FF7.exe, same number in the FF7Config.exe
I guess it is a piece of C++ source code that is recompiled each time with different values.
And the values ​​gets FF7 from the registry ...

But this is now just a guess

You can't uninstall those .Net runtimes.

That means you'll still uses the graphics card driver of the Win7 DVD.
Update your graphics card drivers.


-when I install bootleg, it says I have no movie folder within the FF7 install folder, and I have to manually make an empty folder and name it movie for it to continue, is that normal?
My Game Converter sets as standard the movie path to "[gamedir]\data\movies\", but only with the Rerelease or the Steam release.
With the old release, the movie has yet to be copied to the hard drive, so I've added a warning.


-after installing, it also seem to show a little word document indicating some errors, I can't remember what they were but when I close them and run the game it runs normally, so is that important? If it is then I will try to copy and paste it here the next time I find it.
I suspect that the error messages from touphScript 1.2.8
This version is included in bootleg and was not intended for the new flevel.lgp.

Hello everyone.
First, thank you for this mod. It looks amazing. At least on the screenshots.
I have trouble installing it. I've followed the steps of the tutorial.

My computer has a Geforce gtx 560 with last drivers.
I've downloaded FF7 from steam.
I've created a game folder in C:\Games\FF7
I've installed bootleg in C:\Games\FF7Mods.
All the mods are in green or yellow.
Bootleg is config as admin.
My antivirus and UAC are turned off.
I click on "run bootleg". It says in step 10: "The first window that will pop-up will be the Final Fantasy VII Configuration v1.02.
Click the "Graphics Tab" to enable Aali's Custom Graphics Driver."
This step never happens in my case. Instead, I have the overhaul menu and then the music window.
When I go to FF7config, I still have "custom driver" as a renderer. No sign of Aali's custom.

When I start the game, no opening movie, I have a message saying opengl is as the renderer, I can click on new game, and then nothing happens.

Thanks for your help.
Sorry I'm very new to this.

Run "boot loader", click on "Configure" and check if the path to the Movies is correct.
At the end a \ must be.

And "custom driver" IS Aali's custom driver.

It may be that the FF7Conig sets the registry value for the sound to a different location than the ff7.exe then reads it.
Set both programs on the same compatibility mode.

solved the access Denied Issues by extracting the GameConverter to get the batchfile + its utiliy folder and run teh batch in an "run as Admin" command prompt

TouphScript_v1.3.0 works with English, French, German and Spanish files, only the ff7.exe must be the English version.
Also the additional patches only work with the English files, but you can change the "touphscript.ini" to disable this patches ( eg 'ealin_2 = 0' ).

With my Game Converter, the easiest way.
This also installs the French files as the English ff7.exe (or TS) wants them, assuming, your Steam version is the French.

Only the "0_ff7.exe.txt" is now available in English, and here it is tricky.
One can indeed translate line by line into French, but some lines may only have a certain length.
Even that is not fully coincide with the keyboard layout.

I'm just about to revise FF7exe-french-translation.txt when I'm done, you'll get it for testing.
The real point is actually the numbers there, all with a { in front is not used (it's a comment).

Yeah, I'm using the very latest which outright says it doesn't support FF7Music anymore and supports the vgmstream plugin, so I don't know what's going on *shrugs*
FF7Music also works with the new driver.
Only Covarrs Installer could make problems...


Hey just installed this new driver, but now ALL texture mods are not showing up anymore. And even the font and Menu/GUI looks very pixelated.

Did I do something wrong? Or do I have to load it in 7th Heaven or something?
The new driver don't supports textures in the folder "textures" anymore.
The "Team Avalanche GUI v2.0.8" Mod no longer works, that is also installed with bootleg.
But that belongs in another thread

I think there have your changes from step 9 slammed.

Rename back your ff7_launcher into ff7 (or make a copy and rename the copy) and try to start the Game via the Bootloader.
