Nope its not the CD...its perfect, no scratches at all.

But it comes up with the "FF7.EXE has encountered a problem, and needs to exit" box....this tells me that it its a system fault or a program fault...ive uninstalled and re installed the game but nohting happens....any ideas people?

Yeah, the only problem with that is, if I have an encounter in a forest area in certain places (the TotA for example) then ive got more chance of fighting yuffie than anything else, soits pretty hard not to fight her.
Plus im not running away from any battles.

hmmm...

Reinstall/overwrite the data files.

Also, can you post a copy of the error?

You could burn a fresh copy of the cd...since the copy you have is legit, a copy for yourself is **cough** legal.  Just as a test... but it sounds like ff7.exe is either partially corrupt or maybe a directdraw function is acting up.  Try re-installing ff7 like the prev. post said, or just copy the ff7 exe from the cd, and re-patch that bad boy.

Will it work in Software mode?

You could try disabling the 8 bit pallet with Rivatuner, and then use the full TNTpatch. There is a FF7.exe in the TNTpatch. The 8bit pallet test must say FAIL before the FF7.exe from the TNTpatch will work, and you must check the Nvidia boxes. I don't think it matter is you use Softwaremode.
