Ummm.... there isn't much to learn really... its more or less just getting used to it...

I use photoshop's pen tool for it...
Clicking creates a hard corner...
clicking and dragging creates a smooth curve...
CTRL Click on a point allows it to be dragged or the smoothness angle changed...
The small dots coming out of the points change the smoothness.
SHIFT+ALT Clicking these dots allows them to be moved independently of eachother (It might be CTRL+ALT... I don't remember... it's more of a physical reflex to me.)
to undo the most recent single point, press the delete key once... (CTRL+ALT+Z does not work properly in this mode)

None of this makes sense until you actually try it while reading the instructions...

sl-kun should be able to help you out a little with that as well, since I think he recently figured out how to use it decently, if I recall.

Oh, and I'm just not really gonna have much time for FF7 modding... I may submit something randomly here or there if I see anything that strikes my fancy... but I would suggest not counting on me being here every day or anything...

Also, Alex isn't going to model himself...(lazy ass bastard) so... I shall return to my modeling thusly.

Apparently materia is the biggest inconsistency in people's taste... It's the only part of the mod I've seen remade more than 3 times...

What made you decide to use the buster sword as opposed to the Hard Edge like in the original version?

Screw it I missed the release post... nevermind...

I do believe this was created in a hentai game... in fact, I'm positive it was created in Artificial Girl 3's character maker.

Troubleshooting / Re: Swap/insert FFX models/textures

Like I said, if you REALLY want to do it, you can (provided you have a PS2 to get the bios from) run it in PCSX2 through the TexMod program. TexMod will allow you to replace textures while the game is running, BUT, PCSX2 is mildly difficult to setup for the first time, and will have a very low framerate/ or run very slowly.

If you just want to take a few screenshots with your new texture, that is the way to do it.

I know the feeling, couple it with a college workload and you have a recipe for me being around here a lot less... Glad I could help while I was here though... I am still working on a few personal projects unrelated to FF7 if anyone's interested... (They involve TotW:Radiant Mythology, .hack, and an unnamed action-RPG of my own design...) PM me if you care...

Texmod could work if you used it to run PCSX2 to play FFX at a really slow speed... aside from that you could always ruin your PS2 trying to enable copied discs to play and then waste your time trying to directly replace the hex of the texture you're interested in... only to not play it on your freshly broken PS2.

Does that help any?

Troubleshooting / Re: FF7 Crashes at start of any fight
« on: 2009-08-23 17:45:46 »
laptop fix...i never really understood the point of that... don't laptops come standard with an [fn] number pad?

The FFVII game menus require the numpad's return key to be pressed to confirm things. the [fn] key does not affect the return key at all, thus you cannot confirm any name changes without the numpad return key, which laptops usually do not have. (The normal return/enter key does not work.)

crashes after the battle swirl

I had this issue too, but since Aali's driver came out it stopped... did you make sure you are using Aali's driver and not one of the others? There's a specific process you have to use to turn on Aali's driver, and if you run FF7Config, it automatically turns Aali's driver off again.

like i said guys, it only occurs when i attempt to use wallmarket, theres no other problems and my powersupply is at full

It could be that there is a problem with the memory addressing in your windows setup. When Wallmarket tries to use a certain amount of memory, the computer doesn't like it at all and shuts down. I had this problem with extended photoshop use on my dell laptop...

I then lost my windows install to a virus and had to reinstall everything... since then it works fine.

It could also be that the Wallmarket is somehow overtaxing your processor, and thus causing an immediate shutdown....

It could also be an overheating problem. If using wallmarket causes your internals to heat up drastically (not necessarily something you will be able to feel) it may force shutdown in order to save the computer from permanent damage.

Make sure you are running nothing but the necessary programs when you use wallmarket. (IE, if wallmarket doesn't need any other programs, only run wallmarket)

For all I know, it could also just be a bad chip on your built in RAM... Any number of things could cause a crash like you describe... I'm still fixing my PC since a similar issue happened... as it turns out, my motherboard was fried by a power surge, and it shortly thereafter ruined my powersupply via feedback surges... this was all due to lightning and not software...

Well... It may not help at all but here's a basic bolt I made just now...

137
It's simple, the games market in Europe is altogether more expensive. I hear a lot of my friends talking about buying games on ebay from the US because they're cheaper even with oversees shipping tacked on...

Most people seem to fail at understanding the law of diminishing returns... Especially as it applies to sales...

Also, guys, my name is halkun. Hal.... Like the computer from 2001?

It's not HaIkun, it's haLkun.

I had a feeling there was some relation there... While it may or may not be the direct inspiration, the fact the you used it as an example is good enough... Love the avatar btw...

As for Bio, I think you could add a little brown if you wanted to make it look dirty... like an overlay of brown cloud-filter...

HI there!!

Umm....I encountered an error duirng midgame its missing a btcl_07.png?...Is this fixable? Or can I have the missing .png instead?

Pls..advise...

Just copy one of the other btcl_0 .png's and change the name to btcl_07.png. It's a temporary fix but you'll be able to play at the least.

And I should note that my college semester started up 3 days ago (without me actually) so I'm quickly signing up for my classes today... and most likely won't spend as much time here on teh qhimms...

Just thought I'd let you all know.

Completely Unrelated / Re: Thoughts about Crisis Core
« on: 2009-08-21 10:38:27 »
Just to point out... the whole angelic thing... that was central to the original... In case no one noticed, it's more often divinity that causes the end of the world in final fantasy... rather than demonic forces...

Then again as both are essentially the same in origin...

The point is, Sephiroth was 'ascending to godhood' and took a form to complement that. As for the wings in the other installments of FFVII... they're purely for aestheic purposes... there is no logical reason for them. If the original hadn't been the "One Winged Angel" they might perhaps have mutated tails, a third arm, etc. etc.

As it stands i cant change it if i wanted to. The darker i make the texture the more transparent the game makes it

Sounds like color channel is being pulled as the alpha channel...

That or it's using Addition as it's blend mode. A lot of games use that method for special effects.

143
Blender, much as I loathe it, seems like the best option in terms of simplicity so far...

@Obesebear

Thanks for the tip however Aali's Lgp/unlgp is too much for me to understand..SO I'll stick withThe LGP tools ( Thanks! Ficedula..U d Man! ) and do with the a<>b replace function..

@Satoh

Does your new magic.lgp became lower in bytes after you created another to replace your old one?

O.o; when did I do that again...?

Team Avalanche / Re: [REL] sl1982's & Satoh's GUI Mod
« on: 2009-08-20 08:04:55 »
I noticed that once you create another magic.LGP file it produces a lower byte file somewhere about 35 mb+...But when I tried in game..It's okay..Though it increased the games lag a bit..(Saving was like watching Ryu do a hadouken in slow mo seeing the hand-fireball-thing and all...)...

Overall its Cool!!!..The Boom sign never looked better... *sigh* I wish I had hellbringers PC...*snickers*

Haha? Obesebears is better then mine XD i only have a 9800gt and an AMD 5000+ 2.6ghz (soon to overclock though :D)

@sl1982: Halkun said you can try using a better format then PNG as it's highly compressed which causes some (if not all) the lag.. waiting on Aali though

Elaborate on "Better" please... PNG has variable transparency... it's implicit too, meaning no special process for saving any alphamaps... Granted not all files need to be variable, some could be gif I suppose.... but those would be limited severely.

It all comes to this: Which ends justify which means?

Now, I should also mention that the time meter and limit meter are way too bright... make the gray darker... they look washed out...

146
That's right! You could technically just export all the data as a random filetype of your own design or whatever, and use a blender python script as an (re)import tool.

it wouldn't *cough* be the first time I've seen it done...

Which is all moot if you don't know python...

147
Well.. I'll admit to yelling All hail Queen Zeal upon leaving my college classes on occasion... I make no effort to claim I am not a fanboy, but I do try not to be one in an obvious way.

And... moeblob?

Troubleshooting / Re: Prob on Aalis Graphics Driver?

You could try asking Aali...about Aali's driver...

I only really hate the mainstream the retards never shutup about.... like bleach naruto and occasionally one piece...

Also a lot of US gamers are surprisingly prejudice about Jp games in general... Then again I find US games tend to lack substance... not European games and definitely not the higher end Jp games... though I will be honest... a lot of Jp games utterly suck... but then the majority of cheaper games suck... as do a fair number of popular games, which only succeed due to blind fandom... I think part of the FF hate comes from believing FF fans only like FF because of that same type of blind fandom.

FF7 isn't a real Final Fantasy because it doesn't have crystals!

Um... what? I see lots of crystals....

Quote
FF7 is bad because it has an environmental message!

All of them do don't they? In some form or another they're all sending some sort of message...

Quote
FF7's crystal theme is bad because it's techno!

Wooooow.... that one sounds reeeaaalll intelligent there... I can't even come up with a word to explain how ridiculous it is...

So...  it seems that, as a whole, people who hate FF7... hate FF7 because its FF7... no other reason... Kind of like how I hate anime that becomes mainstream simply because I never hear about anything else... but at least I'm honest about it...
