That might be fruitless. I once had a beef with Jeff about his boasting and challenged him to show his glorious SAT certificate; instead, he asked obesebear to lock the thread.

And if you want a laugh, look at the stats for Jackson's gap in Alabama:

http://www.city-data.com/city/Jacksons-Gap-Alabama.html

Population in July 2009: 767 (this town is barely bigger than my primary school)

For population 25 years and over in Jacksons' Gap:
High school or higher: 49.5%
Bachelor's degree or higher: 4.8%
Graduate or professional degree: 1.9%

(that's right; half of adults haven't graduated from high school)

I dont recall getting a topic locked, Id like to see it though, maybe you are right.

I will dig up my old test scores in a bit and take pictures, needless to say I blew the whole state away.

As far as Jacksons Gap stats, you cant look at those, this isnt even a town....
You need to look at Alexander City, AL. Its 5 mins from here and is where I was educated and born.

I will produce my stats for you later this afternoon.

And when I was taking these tests(2005) No one had smartphones or even phones with internet connections. Also, have you ever taken these tests? Imagine NOT using your brain and trying to search for the answers, will probably average you around 5 mins per question, which means you finish maybe half the test.

As far as me going on brain power, most questions were answered before even reading the entire question/multiple choice. I average around 5-10 seconds per question.

Testing is very strict here. And the ACT and SAT is universal. Every state takes the same test...

The smartphone and test arguements are invalid.

As far as the southern baptist thing goes, no I wasnt raised strictly religious. But I know many who were, and they are good people. They dont let their 10 y.o do drugs or even be in a position to know what drugs are or get into that.

I have many faults(drug use) But I have never seen some of the appalling things I saw in cali.
I also met a 14 y.o. crackhead...... Plus Homeless EVERYWHERE! They mustve made good life decisions.
As apposed to Alabama, I have NEVER ONCE seen a homeless in this state, although FEW do exist in Birmingham/Montgomery/ Maybe Mobile.
It seems like 25% of cali's population is homeless.

There are just as many drug users here, but not at such a young age, not even at my age(23). Most heavy users are in their 40's.I only smoke pot.

I dont know how much travelling you guys have done, but I have lived in 6 different states now and some far from the south. The south wins. All other people do is speculate and say inbred, and thats how you will always think of it in your ignorance. Why not gather enough info before you make such a grossly misstated opinion?

153
Louisiana <---Explains allot. These folk are cut off from the rest of the US. Some say they even inbreed O_O.

Mako, I hate to continue on this after you apologized, but I live in deeply rural ALABAMA.
If louisianna is so-called bad, then we would be much worse.

Alabama is a beautiful state, with good people.I have never once in my 23 years met an inbred person. I lived in california for a few months, and let me tell you, Id be much quicker to believe inbreeding is going on in that crazy upside down place than here,

Not bagging on CALI, my wife is from there and I loved it, but people are CRAZY there, they werent raised in Southern Baptist Christian households and raised to be good people. Maybe 50% of the population was raised to be good people, and you can tell it.

Put it this way, In cali I was at a friends house who happened to sell low-priced, low grade weed. We were watching T.V. and at about 2am on a weekday this 10 y.o. kid knocks on the door.

He comes in and he is trippin on extascy so hard that its RIDICULOUS!He was bouncing off of every wall talking abouit "Im so effed up on E right now!"

He came to buy 5$ worth of weed and only had 3.28 and haggled with my friend until  he said "here just take it and go".

My friend told me if I ever saw 10+ 10 y.o.'s on the corner on bicycles, to stay away, because they form gangs at that age(and have guns, and will rob you)

10 year olds doing extascy at 2am on a schoolnight and being in gangs with guns and robbing people? Yeah the south is a backwards and cut-off place then. Glad we dont have all that craziness here.

Read this and understand it mako and your apology is accepted on my end.
Please feel free to argue any points brought up in this discussion.(Im here to educate)

Also on the inbreeding thing..Ive been from AL my entire life, want me to take a picture of my SAT and ACT scores? Im willing to bet no one on here has them beat.(I was certified a genius at 7 years old and was placed in a gifted curriculum ever since)

lol when I redid the post I added HD in all of them, to try and garner more attention, as kudistos said, it was mostly overlooked.

No harm no foul though, just trying to raise awareness to the amazing things this community has done.

I idolize qhimm.com lol

mods are and here is the resulting discussion.

http://www.overclock.net/video-game-news/1051174-siliconera-ffvii-ffviii-steam-but-not.html

I post on page 3 and 6, if any of you are mad that I posted pictures(SL) then please let me know, I didnt take credit, nor did I give it, I figured the credit mentioned here would be enough.

I just want to get teach the ff7 community about the wonderful things we do here, and maybe, just maybe, get  us more contributing members.

Please join our discussion at overclock to inform the ff7 community.

P.S. Am I in any sort of trouble for this? Let me know and I will correct it if so.

I dont care if this game takes 100gb of space as long as it blows my mind away.

Yeah Im going to get a custom water loop built for performance and mount my radiators on the side of my case next to the ac with it blowing directly on them so.... Hopefully Ill get good results.

Im also gonna lap the HELL outta my cpu and waterblocks, make it wafer thin I say!

I think it looks cheap and fugly.

Hey, you asked.

Lol I do not disagree, but it does offer massive gains in cooling performance.

Also SL, condensation has been a topic we've discussed heavily at overclock.net, and with the inside of the case being the ambient temperature, the only chance of condensation without vast environmental change(moving it to a warm room, cutting the ac without gradually building up temps etc.

This was never a permanent solution, my ac just happens to be right beside my pc, so I did a little cooling experiment. Im going full water when I get Bulldozer(btw new specs have came out and these are gonna blow SB and IB out of the water!)

You really laid it out for me, Im most likely going to get Roberts book, and will learn all the common chords before I move on to playing anything.

Hate to try and learn sheet music, but this isnt guitar, it must be done lol.

Yeah hopefully me and her both can get our sightreading better. When I learned sheet music with my guitar I could easily read it and tell you what the notes were, but my brain took like 5 secs to proccess each individual note and I sort of dropped it, wish I didnt.

Ill sell this crap when we get a little better(I didnt know this keyboard was so bad until we opened it, plays great, functions great, but is very limited.)I bought it for my wife for a surprise and when it got here I was apologizing lol, I felt that bad about it.

Thanks again for your well rounded reply, Ill let ya know if I ever need any guidance.

Hey man me and the wife got an M-Audio Keyrig 49.

Do you Have any suggestions to start us of down the wonderful road of pianism?

I LOVED FF9 Choco Forest games!

either your talking about the bad TIM on the base, or my camera caught bad lighting and made the top of it look dirty...its not.

Im installing a Crosshair V Formula today with some new TIM so all should be well.

Ok so I changed the inside of my case from this:

To this:

Afterwards I redid the duct tape connections on my ghetto A/C rig:

My idle temps went from 38c on regular air to 26-28c with A/C
My load temps went from 56c on regular air to 42c on A/C (after 20 minutes of Prime95)

If this options available to you, its a good option, as results dont lie.(This is also with bad TIM)

Lemme know what ya think.

Well Im in a pickle.

There were 2 rog xpanders on ebay coming out of hong kong. I had my eye on them and they were both bought.

I can not even find proof of existence of any more of these things, much less more for sale.
If any of you can use some of your ninja searching skills to find this thing for sale id be EXTREMELY IN YOUR DEBT FOR LIFE! Like literally lol.

Thanks guys.

165
You think I can mod that thing to raise the pci slots? thats the whole problem.

166
If thats the case couldnt I just make a frame and screw the aluminum to it? Just cust a sheet for every side? The corners would surely suck that way.

May not look very pretty though, and aesthetics would be slightly important...

167
Well guys, I have a unique problem.

I have the new Crosshair V Formula 990FX and am planning on purchasing the daughter pci board, the ROG Xpander.

Problem is, I can not find a case that will accommodate this setup, as the pci daughter board mounts "on top" of the motherboard, effectively increasing the dimensions of the board from just height and width, to height width and depth.

Since I know of no cases that can handle a motherboard with depth, I suppose I will have to custom build a case myself.

The first option that comes to mind is wood. But herein lies the problem. I dont want a wood pc case. Im not trying to feel "vintage" with this at all.

I want this pc to SCREAM performance.. Im putting tri fire 7990's in it when they release with the best Bulldozer 8-core at release, both OC'ed to the max with 2 h100's in a single loop to the cpu, and a single loop to the three GPU's and 4 radiators, so I mean come on...wood? This things gonna be the most beastly pc that will be built this generation if I have anything to do with it, I mean come on Im getting the ROG XPANDER... I bet you cant even find 1 person with one lol.(And they had one for the rampage 3 back in the day...)

What other options could be available to me? I have no way to do metal work, but completely DO NOT MIND to find a place to do it for me.

Ive never been a hardware modder but I have done similar things in my life.
I would definately need the communitys help with design, as I am horrible with design, I couldnt be an architect or an engineer

I cant really think of anything else to say, any info you guys need from me so that you may be able to properly brainstorm with me?

Here is what the board will look like set up.

IDK, but I guess I would need to know wouldnt I? I mean that would be my responsiblity.

Time to read up on some of the legalities.

Being new to the game, no it wasnt hard, yes challenging, but difficulty is relevant.
The things you mention may be valid for your arguement, but I dont think everyone sees it this way.

Yeah dodging 200 lightning strikes is a challenge, which consists of 200 single button presses...
I think we mean difficulty more in terms of the strategy and mechanics involved in battle...

170
Woah what keyword did you use? I searched "force 16 9 old games" and got nothing lol.
Im getting this now, will let you know and even take screenies for future reference.

strange...this just changes your resolution like windows does, it doesnt change the games resolution.

How do I go about editing the game to run in that res? It has a config application, the exe itself, and then 3 cfg files, 1 for refresh rate, the others for idk...

171
And got it for 5$!, Problem is, I have a 42" hd monitor and its highest res is 1280x960... I wish I could force it into 16:9... this is disappoint...

172
The clientel will come from there being no real computer solutions around, unless you count Best Buy and Geek Squad, which is around 45 miles away.... and you know how ridiculously stupid they are right?

Everyone owns a pc or laptop with a virus nowadays, hell for 50$, Ill run roadkill then malwarebytes on if for you

The user base wont know what I do, they will just say I paid this man 50$ and he got rid of my virus, and that is very acceptable to them.

Plus if they have any hardware/software issues, where are they to go to? Everyone is not as affluent with computers as we are here...

This was never meant to be a real moneymaker, just a hobby and a way to teach others, the money will come from the restaurant and whatever pc installs/builds/repairs I happen to do along the way.

173
In the near future(next 6 months) I will acquire a restaurant. The premises is 1300$ a month, well located, and not only that, 4200 sq ft!
I know, its huge, but this is going to be a small family oriented restaurant.

So I've decided Id put the rest of the space to much better usage.
There is an area on the right side of the building, about 20x20, that would be perfect for a small pc store. I also plan on having a WIFI lounge between the pc shop and the restaurant.

The community here is largely ignorant of technology. I suspect 95% of the home computer userbase knows little more than how to surf the web.(I take this from 23 years of experience living here, and come on, Its rural ALABAMA lol.)

I would feel a great sense of pride if I could change the community of this county(or at least the town the restaurant and shop are located in) Into a more knowledgeable userbase.Problem is, the local college only offers CAD, and thats not REALLY a computer class, more so it teaches you how to put mathematical figures onto a template to carve a design.

I would like to build a curriculum, starting with the VERY BASICS, and working into the EXTREME, and teach classes regularly out of the shop, as my wife and mother will run the restaurant.

The problem lies withing the fact that as a very experienced user, I cannot remember the basics, or properly set up a curriculum that does not confuse...

I would love to hear your suggestions on the subject, and any ideas that may benefit the restaurant, shop,or the community in general.

174
That may be your problem, I have always used aali.

175
Yeah your specs should handle it fine...... wow I really dont know, I will look into the matter for you though.
