FF7 in WinXP unaddressed game crash problem
« on: 2002-12-25 03:51:46 »
Hi there. I'm playing FF7 on Windows XP, and got stuck on the chocobo racing part after Corel Prison.  However, I found the unofficial chocobo patch which fixed it.  Now, I'm at the snowboarding mini-game in Great Glacier, and every time the game tries to load up the snowboarding sequence, I get anything from a game lockup to a full system halt forcing a reboot.  I have the newest drivers for my video, sound, and CD.  HELP if you can, please!

EDIT: I'm using a GeForce4 Ti-4200 128Mb with the lastest drivers.

Try running it in Softwaremode, in the small window option.

Update: I underestimated the power of Windows XP.  Win98 compatibility mode fixed any and all problems I was having. On a lighter note, I finally pushed myself to beat the game yesterday and am glad to have finally appreciated one helluva game :)
