Maybe finally someone pulls off the ultimate version of FFVI, with the correct translations, uncensored sprites, correct music, the extra content.

It's been a while since I last logged on Qhimm and came here because of this release since it's an android port.
I remember a user was working on modding the SNES rom back in the day (can't find the thread or the user), has anyone came close to do something like that? A proper definitive version?

Since AFAIK we got this thus far:


SNES (West version): (Pros: runs smoothly)
-Censored sprites
-Removed scenes
-Poor translation
-Censored translation
-Game-breaking bugs
-Gameplay bugs

PSX (Pros: Uncensored sprites)
-Long loading times
-SNES translation
-Gameplay bugs

GBA (Pros: Extra content, better translation and only version with all bugs fixed).
-Censored sprites
-Removed scenes
-Poor Framerate
-Terrible soundtrack.


AFAIK the android version is a port from GBA, and the Steam version is a port from the android.

I dont know if you're talking about the III or VI, since they are the same across some regions, but there was one guy in this forum working in FF6 (the one that got a remake for gameboy) where he was adding new dungeons (from the remake), fixing language issues, removing some censorship from the west game, and a bunch of other things. I think he stopped using this forum though.

I believe that in the original the seat is lower and the wheel has a different angle.
Also the square window has that slide thingy on the middle (2 glasses).

Haven't been around for a while but i kinda feel that the difference between the lightning on Cloud and Barret are too much.
Maybe reduce the brightness on the Cloud textures to resemble more the ones on Barret?

Seems like Cloud is battling in daylight while Barret is in nightlight.

For his final limit I would add something that would end with a comet.
Maybe Ultima spell followed with a comet. And name it "obliterate" or "Return to Oblivion" as his wish was to destroy the planet with a comet to return to the lifesteam, or something like that.

Well, maybe make the stone (ruby/emerald/etc) the thing they have in the center of the torso. Give it the stone texture:

I'd say magochocobo+weemus model/texture are closer to the original.



The head on the first post is really awesome but the hair seems a bit off with all the spikes.
Although dunno if the "cartoonish" texture style from mago would fit with the rest of the models available here in qhimm.

I find the coat texture a bit weird. A bit too grainy.
Also liked the legs/boots of the previous model more.
