I dug into the ff7input.cfg file in order to add support for editing your in-game controls directly from within 7th Heaven v2.2. In case anyone is interested, I wanted to share those results with the community in case you want to design/integrate your own custom mapping tool.

First offset is to select either normal or custom controls.
TYPEOFFSETVALUES
Normal or Custom000 or 1 (Always use 1 for custom controls)

Below are where the offsets can be found for the keyboard and gamepad.

While working on my release of the "Symphonic Remasters: Redux" music mod, I wanted to release a version for those of you that use The Reunion. Unfortunately, The Reunion doesn't name the ogg music files the same as the original game so it would be a bit of a process to hunt down and compare the 2 opposing file names, make sure they match, then rename the original file names to ones supported by The Reunion.

Well, I've done that for you. Here's a little batch script that will rename files from their originals like "gold1.ogg" to "055 Gold Saucer.ogg" for you. Just drop the "RenameMusicForTheReunion.cmd" into the same folder as your originally named ogg files, then run this script. If you'd rather not download the batch file, you can re-create it yourself using the script contents below:

Spoiler: show

@echo off
echo:This will rename all FF7 music files from their original names used in the game like 'ob.ogg' to a new name that is compatible with The Reunion's format like '002 Bombing Mission.ogg'.
echo:
echo:To use, simply place the RenameMusicForTheReunion.cmd file in the folder where all of your original .ogg files are, then run it. Your music files will be automatically renamed.

Symphonic Remasters: Redux
Complete FF7 Soundtrack Replacement

What do they sound like?
Listen to the tracks: HERE.

What's New?
  • Adjusted volume that more closely resembles the game's OST
  • Uses only LoopStart, just as the OST does, so it loops correctly with various game drivers
  • Some looping and volume issues corrected
  • Includes upscaled and reworked opening and ending movies, now with the original PSX SFX
  • Re-created from the original lossless WAV files, exported in 44.1kHz/quality level of "7"
  • Smaller file size
  • Ability to individually turn on or off tracks for the best customization and compatibility with other mods*
  • Convenient installation, easy activate/deactivate without altering game files*
*7th Heaven IRO only

From unab0mb:
These tracks from Symphonic Remasters have always been my favorite version of the soundtrack to play with in the game. They stay true to the original soundtrack while improving the instrumentation and quality. For me, the symphonic style just seems to fit well with the game. It seems I'm not alone, as there are worldwide traveling symphony orchestra performances of music from Final Fantasy and the FF7 Remake game heavily uses a symphonic style. As some of you may know, I also worked on a music mod featuring Enrico Deiana's excellent remakes. So, I enjoy listening to both Enrico's and Symphonic Remasters' music while I play the game. Unfortunately, there was a huge volume difference between the 2 sets of tracks. I wanted these 2 mods to work well together in the game without one scene blasting volume while the next scene being too quiet. I also noticed that some people have looping issues with some music mods due to how the metadata was constructed. The original also didn't include movies with sound effects or a modern IRO for 7th Heaven. So, I felt Symphonic Remasters deserved a re-release! See the What's New section above for a list. A huge thanks to Chris Marsh/Symphonic Remasters for his blessing on this re-release and for providing the original lossless WAV files!

From Symphonic Remasters:
I am just some guy from England who loves to remaster classic old video game soundtracks. As a composer, audio engineer and music producer, I have a vast amount of high quality software and hardware to help me remake these classic tracks in the highest quality possible! I do all this stuff for myself mainly – after all, these are my personal reimaginings of the original soundtracks so I’m making them in accordance with my vision while attempting to stay true to what the original composer was trying to do. As such, I don’t expect everyone to love what I produce, or to agree with the decisions I make in these productions. Despite doing these remasters for myself, I have been sharing them online because there are a lot of fans of these classic soundtracks and it seems there are plenty of people who enjoy my productions of them.

Manual ZIP for The Reunion: http://7thheaven.rocks/releases/Symphonic_Remasters_Redux_The_Reunion.zip
1. Extract the full folder name (including "SRR") into your FF7\The_Reunion\Custom\ folder. So you will see full paths like FF7\The_Reunion\Custom\SRR\Direct\Movies and FF7\The_Reunion\Custom\SRR\Music.
2. Edit your FF7\The_Reunion\Options.ini file. Edit the line "Mod_ID = "" so it reads "Mod_ID = SRR".
3. Optionally, if you just want to overwrite the original files (be sure to back them up first!), you can replace all ogg files under FF7\The_Reunion\BASE\Music and copy the .avi movie files to FF7\The_Reunion\GLOBAL\Direct\movies .

Manual ZIP: http://7thheaven.rocks/releases/Symphonic_Remasters_Redux_Manual.zip
For manual installation (back up your original files first!):
1. Place opening.avi and ending2.avi in data\movies.
2. Place all ogg files in music\vgmstream or data\music_ogg depending on your FF7 version.

"Could not find a part of the path 'D:\Games\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\mods\7th Heaven'."

You've mangled your game installation paths or registry. Clean them up, or install 2.2 which detects this situation and prompts you to fix your paths.

Very new here, so I am sorry if this is the wrong way to ask.

But is it possible to add an option that merges the SYW V4 and DrLilo FMVs?
So that only the Chibi FMVs are replaced with DrLilo's work and all the others are replaced with the SYW V4 versions?
That's more of a mod thing, vs. mod manager thing. This is easily accomplished by:
1. Open 7th Heaven, go to Settings>General Settings. Make sure the option "Context Menu in Explorer" is turned ON. Click Save.
2. Right-click on your My Mods tab to bring up the folder that contains your mods.
3. Right-click on the IRO file that contains Satsuki's movies and choose "Unpack IRO". Do the same for the DrLilo IRO. You will now have 2 folders that contain movie files.
4. Create a new folder that will store your custom movie mod. Copy the movie file you want from each respective pack into your new custom movie mod folder. If it's a movie without chibi replacements, copy it from the folder that contains Satsuki's movies. If it's one with a replacement chibi movie you want, copy it from the DrLilo folder to your custom movie mod.
5. When you have all the movies you want in your custom movie mod folder, right-click on the folder and choose "Pack into IRO". Now you can delete your 3 temporary folders (your custom one, Satsuki's, and DrLilo's) leaving only your custom movies.iro file.
6. Refresh your library in 7H and you should be able to activate your mod. It's not required, but if you're feeling adventurous you can include a mod.xml and preview image for your new mod (just put the mod.xml and the preview image in the root of your mod folder before you pack it into an IRO). You can use the Tools>Catalog/Mod Creation Tool to help you generate a basic mod.xml file. Or, just take a peek at the mod.xml files that come with other mods or look at the Help>Creating Mods section to better understand how mod.xml works if you want to customize further.

Releases / Re: Dual-Font UI
« on: 2020-07-12 04:47:30 »
Wow, everything looks really nice in those screenshots. Looks unique, fun, clean. Only part that seems out of place IMO is the font/style used in the main menu/limit break text, etc. It looks "dirty" or like a low-res CAPTCHA instead of clean like everything else. The borders look great too. Awesome job. Now I wonder if I can edit my ESUI iro to bolt this on...

32
These avatars are already included w/ the 7th Heaven catalog. Download the Qhimm Modding Community "User Interface" mod. You will find these as an option in the Configure Mod window.

33
That would be a huge undertaking and I'm not sure there's much demand for it. You'd need to work with EQ2Alyza on updating/integrating all of that into the Qhimm 3.0 Catalog mods.

34
DLPB's hext tools are available on his web site's download page at http://ff7.live .

Edit: Also, you don't need to change the flevel, kernels, etc. Those are already translated if you install a different language of the game. 7H 2.2 BETA supports the other languages and renames the files for you for use w/ 7H's English exe. The only thing you should need to worry about is hext for the exe. The font map textures are editable as well.

35
But then, ¿why there is the option of "\hext\ff7\en" or "\hext\ff7\es" or "\hext\ff7\it"...? I said this because if I do (in fact I'm doing) the hext file with the translated lines of the English EXE, I must put the hext text file inside the "\en" folder (not the "\es" folder as supposed), if not, it does not works.

I'm doing the spanish translation in hext format for the English EXE that comes with 7th and I'm using the menu_us.lgp (which it seems to have the font and characters for spanish). I'm not sure what will happen with the remaining special chars of the fonts in other languages. There is not either an option to choose the fonts, must be used mandatory the english ones.
As far as 7H is concerned, there is not an option for \hext\ff7\es (or any other language) by default. There is only \en\ because 7H uses the English EXE. The other subfolders for other languages are part of FFNx, but they are not included w/ 7H because they are intended for vanilla versions of other language game installs. That is because you can use FFNx as your game driver even without 7H, with other language EXEs and even for Steam. But if you do that, you miss out on the 7H features. But again, as far as 7H is concerned, running the game w/ 7H is only going to run the English exe (unless you specify a different one as explained in my last post) so only the \en folder is relevant. FFNx will detect what exe you're running on game launch, so if you're using an ES exe, it will load the hext under the \es\ folder.

36
a.) This features include translations (somehow, like hext format) of the english ff7.exe that comes with 7H? I ask this because when using localized ff7.exe (spanish for example), it is overwritten by the one that comes with 7H, and I have in-game menus in english again. Using FF7 1998 with update 1.02.

a1.) How can I know which menu_?? is using the game? I have menu_us.lgp and menu_sp.lgp, but I assume that is using the english one.

b.) Will there be any improvement to make localizations an easy task in mods like Gameplay 3.0 (which I like a lot) to permit KERNEL.bin, flevel.lgp and another places to get external strings? Again, if a mod is updated or has a bunch of this files, make the translation of them would be a headache for the translators.
The EXE remains in English and should always be ff7.exe (this exe is customized as well--for Large Address Aware support and Windows DEP support which can improve stability and mod support--do not replace it). You can use your own custom alternate-language EXE if you wish, just name it something like mycustom.exe and select it in your 7H>General Settings. But also know that mods may not work at all or won't work correctly because offsets are different between the EXEs. Most mods, and everything in the catalog, target the English EXE. FFNx and 7H both support hext, so if you want to drop a translation hext under your ff7\hext\ folder for FFNx or drop one in a \hext\ folder inside of an IRO for 7H, you're welcome to. If using an English EXE, of course the files it looks for will also be the English versions (like flevel.lgp). Different hexts for other languages may or may not be something that could be added in a future update.

Hello new to this thing about modding, using 7th heaven, but some mods like new threat and lvl1 party mods won't finish downloading is this normal or is there something I'm unaware of? the no mouth mod did download and install though.
If anything fails to download, you can see why in the log. Easiest way to bring that up is to click the status/info bar at the bottom of the main 7H window. My guess is a 404 error (file not found) or a quota exceeded error. The mod authors are in control of their own catalogs and must maintain them Reach out to the author of the mod that is not downloading to see if they can fix it or offer an alternate download link. http://7thheaven.rocks/help/troubleshooting.html#dltrouble

37
tried the beta. i just keeps crashing.

That's not helpful at all. Did you read the last few posts? The front page/first post? What is crashing, and when? Logs? Turn off all your mods? What's your FFNx config? I'm going to assume it's the animation mod and you didn't read anything otherwise.

38
7H no longer crashes because the exe and driver have been updated. DLPB has removed the cache from the old Aali driver for his next update which should stop battles from crashing.

39
Your textures path is incorrect. This will cause many things to break.
If your game path is this:
FF7 C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\ff7.exe

Then your textures path must be this:
Textures: C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\mods\Textures

You can create/import custom controls or choose different presets to change your keyboard/controller mapping from 7H. Go to Settings>Game Launcher>Controls.

40
Yeah, many of the devs around here are pretty annoyed by all of these programs/Windows always chirping over nothing. It's just a money-making scheme to get you to spend hundreds of dollars every year to force you to digitally sign everything. That's ridiculous for most average FOSS folks.

Troubleshooting / Re: Can't launch FF7 with 7th heaven
« on: 2020-07-01 14:38:38 »
Ah, good detective work. You could download the mods elsewhere such as from http://7thheaven.rocks (or just point your library to an NTFS drive and re-download with 7h) and then extract the IRO file so that it is in folder format. You can place the folder in your mod library. The individual files would not exceed the FAT32 limit. So, if you wanted to still use a FAT32 drive, you could, with that workaround. But I suspect you already converted your drive. Good to know in case someone runs into it in the future.

42
Thanks for the bug report. We'll need to resize the window to accommodate for the longer text pushing the tabs down. For now, you can do 2 workarounds:
1) Open the Import window and press TAB 3 times, then spacebar to open the "browse for IRO" dialog.
2) Just double-click an IRO file to import it into 7H (if your "open mod files with 7H" option is turned on under Settings>General Settings).

Are you sure E:\ has 185 GB *free* or is that the total size of the drive? If that's truly how much space you have free, then I'm not sure what could trigger the OS to respond with a disk full error other than a permissions issue in some cases, but that wouldn't make sense because you've downloaded other mods fine. Is this a personal computer or one that has enterprise stuff on it like a work machine with disk quotas set?

I would suggest deleting everything under your E:\Jeux\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\mods\7th Heaven\temp folder just in case there is some kind of file corruption issue going on (not likely, but worth a shot). Also download the latest 7H because the downloading code has largely been rewritten (but that's not likely to fix this problem either) but I'm grasping at straws here.

Did you take a moment to actually read the error message? If it's saying you're out of disk space, well then, you're out of disk space. The drive you're storing your mod library on is probably just low on space, but you have to consider the mods you're downloading. Media and Field are probably the biggest ones out there. I'll explain why the "download size" is not the "installed size". Most of the time mods are compressed so that they download faster/use less bandwidth. Once the mod is downloaded, let's say 10GB, it could decompress to maybe double that and in some cases when installing a mod, it is copied to your library rather than moved, requiring more space.

Your mod library is stored wherever you choose it. Remember the game does not run from Program Files. A copy is made in that situation to C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII so in many cases the mods are not stored in the same location where your Steam FF7 is located. You can move your mods to another/bigger drive if you want and point the library there. 7H>Settings>General Settings>Library.

Updates can always be found on the release thread: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=19533.0

An updated 7th Heaven is now available for testing if you want. It supports the French version.

46
7th Heaven 2.2.1.486 BETA is out now if anyone would like to test it. Please provide bugs/feedback here or in the Qhimm or Tsunamods Discords.

47
The new 7H clarifies the message so it is less troll-y:

"Error code: YARR! Unable to continue. This copy of FF7 appears to be pirated. Please purchase a genuine copy of the game. If this copy is genuine, please ask for help on the Qhimm forums."

Ok, and if I have done that and it still doesn’t work acknowledge them?

I made the folder called save in final fantasy, in common.

7th still doesn’t acknowledge them...

7H? 7H literally has nothing to do with your save game files. This is a matter of 2 different versions of the game storing/looking for save data in different folders and you need to move/copy said data for use with the other version.

I'm going to throw this out there and guess you are probably in the wrong folder. You have not posted your full folder path. So if you're under \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\save\ that's incorrect. The modded game doesn't run under Program Files. If your Steam library is somewhere else, outside of a system folder, then that's fine. If you installed under Program Files, your game would have been copied to C:\Games\Final Fantasy VII which you would have been notified of and acknowledged.

If that's not the issue, for now, I would suggest going into the Qhimm Discord and ask for help there and post some screenshots of your folders or screen share so you can be helped better and more in real-time.

Yes, cloud saves need to be off so they're stored locally. I don't recall where (if?) the local cloud saves are stored if you have them on. Yes, the save files are named savexx.ff7 where xx + 1 is the slot number of the save. The saves do NOT go under common/final fantasy vii they go under (in your case) /common/final fantasy vii/SAVE/. If there's no "save" subfolder, create it.

And quit whining. :P This isn't as difficult as you're making it.

Wrong. Nobody insulted you. He was correct in that your post was in the wrong area. "Releases"? No. You were the one acting out and getting pissy and then trying to hide your actions by using DMs is worse. Getting personal and calling people an idiot is not acceptable. I don't care that you got mad. Nobody MADE you mad. YOU are in control of YOUR feelings and your own reactions. It doesn't matter if you think someone deserves it. That's not what you get to decide. I'm glad you got warned, and I hope you do again (at a minimum) from this.

After everything that has happened, I think we're all pretty sick of people like you. Go away, if you don't already get banned.
