Aye, Redman's right. The way it works is that the NT Mod uses a set of variables to handle new stuff that was added in. But more than that, Materia Slots, AP, EXP arcs, and equipment are different so you'll likely encounter a lot of problems from that. If you started on Hardcore, then you'll also have Triple AP weapons in your inventory early; I re-purposed Gatling Gun, Guard Stick, and Leather Glove into late-game weapons.
