That fence may not be shattered, but my dreams are.

He did break it eventually.

Actually, I have a buster sword that I can wield and I'm a pretty skinny guy.  It's like almost 6 feet (About 5'7", though the blade's a little flimsy, and made out of steel...  I have a hard time swinging it around, but I'm pretty sure someone who works out would be able to wield it (Maybe not like Cloud, but shoot, atleast they'd be able to hold their own I'm guessing). @.@

Does this happen to be you?

He gave up half-way through. :D With a sword that large and heavy it'd be hard to add any significant force to it other than what gravity is bringing to the swing.

You'd have to look like

to get anywhere with that large a weapon. :)

I assume that sword was made out of steel, but how do we know what FFVII's Buster Sword was made out of? It might have been made from a much lighter metal and thus have been usable.

I seem to remember that the Buster Sword is actually extremely light and strong ;)  I choose to believe that.  ;D

Afterall we have Tolkien's mithril armour and swords... extremely light and yet extremely strong.

Of our metals, the best tradeoff is probably Titanium.

Which is indeed far lighter than steel. That man would have had a much easier time handling a titanium sword.

Of course, it would have been far more expensive.

Ceramic Buster sword! It would certainly cut through things, such as soft bread

Pity it wouldn't be able to cut through bone and would shatter as soon as it hit metal.

You could spend a lot less money and most likely be much more effective in a fight if you just use the Nail Bat  ;D

Or one of these

But it reduces the metal to dust!

At least we can cut tall grasses, if two people can handle it together(such swords are sometimes held by two or more people to use in real world)..... ::)

When and how is this practical?

When your enemy has no arms or legs?

Ah, yes. Situations where your enemy has no arms or legs but you still have to kill him with a huge sword are very common in combat. I can see why people would make swords specifically for these occasions.
