[FF7PC] Masamune Patch (1.0)

A fun little patch that allows Cloud to use Sephiroth's Masamune blade!  It swaps in Sephy's blade for the "Ultima Weapon" blade and comes complete with a save at the start of the game with the Masamune equipped (in case you can't be bothered to trawl the game looking for it  :-D)

NB:  I have no idea how it will react to other patches - it should only effect the battle.lpg and the kernal2.bin.

Anyway to make is so when you get the Masamune Blade at Battle Square, you can use it instead of it just siting in your items list and without replacing any of the other weapons?

To fix it that way I would think you'd have to mess with the programming of the game - definately beyond me. :cry:  Like the field models, you can only replace existing ones - not add new ones in.

The patch worked for you though?

I honestly didn't try it but from what I know, the weapon is already in the game (Sephiroth uses it) and you can get another Masamune blade from Battle Square though it's a paperweight and not usable except if you have Sephiroth in your party. If only you can get Cloud to use it...

Probably because it was hosted 2 years ago, and most of those sites barely keep a file up for more than a few weeks.

I came.  Twice.  Specifically for the changes to the Buster Sword.  Erm, do you actually have to make the changes to the battle.lgp for the stat changes to take effect?

I'm well aware that the buster sword is given 8 linked slots and the death penalty's starting stats, but I'm not sure if the growth part of it works since it wasn't going up after 3-4 battles.  I tried in multiple files in multiple parts of the game.  Just want to see if someone can verify that this works and just takes more time.

it goes up very slowly,, im not certain how many kills u need to go up by however much, but im pretty positive it works

ive just worked out how the buster is calculated...........

how many kills cloud has made / 128, + 10, + strength and attack stat, / by 16

which i found quite confusing...lol


if u would prefer, i could upload the buster sword, to go up by 10 per kill, calculated.......

10*how many kills cloud has made,

so at 999 kills u would do 9999 dmg, no matter what, and if u had the break dmg limit patch on, u could keep going

That's pretty straightforward considering it's a square function of kills and character strength.

I like that second idea though.  Mebbe make that the ultima weapon stat?
