If you load lb2.sb2 (at least I think that's what the soundfont was called) into a Sblive Soundfont bank....and configure FF7PC to use Soundfonts.... (I've forgotten how...something to dow with General MIDI for the bottom slection and I think A or B for the top) you'll hear the vocals. But every other song in the game will be messed up. To help with that, you load the FF7.sb2 and then the lb2 on top of it. The music will still be messed up in places....but, not as bad as using the lb2 alone.

But...you need a Creative Soundcard to do it.

Well...if history has anything to do with it.... a sequel or remake of FF7 will happend because of the demand.... Just like what happend with Advent Children.

I would rather have a sequel, though.

I'm more interested what's going to happen when you get to the observatory. With luck... it's not going to crash on you.

You mean... "maybe" you're in the game.

Honestly...I think you would have been better off spending 150 dollars on a PStwo or 50 on a PSone and 20 bucks for the game, but that's only my opinion.

As far as I can remember a remake of FF7, 8 and 9 was leaked out about 3 years ago or longer. But nothing ever came of it. As for E3, they said right from the beginning that FF7 wasn't going to be a remake for the PS3....they said exepect a new FF game for the PS3, whatever that means.

But, on a lighter note...they said the same thing about FF7:AC, when they did it's Demo in Tokyo....2 years ago. Think they were Demo'ing some kind of new rendering technology or something. They said this it wasn't going to be a new anime'....and look.....they made it into one, anyway.

I would have just told you to read the readme file that comes with epsxe, before asking any questions about it. If you're too lazy to read the instructions....then I'm too lazy to help you.

That used to happen a lot with me too.... it's a sound crash. Putting direct acceleration into basic or standard mode, should fix that. Full Acceleration usually causes problems with this game.

What Det driver are you using?
That makes all the difference in the world, you know.

That 8 bit pallet is a very big facter with FF7PC.

Did you try the dxdiag trick....
or the quarter screen mode.

I had that crash with Win98SE... and SBlive (they quit making updates for Win98) putting Direct Sound Accleration to Basic mode stopped the crash. It's inside dxdiag.

That wind blowing thing is a glitch of the TNT patch... Playing thru in Software mode is all you needed to do.

don't know about your second glitch..... I know sometimes if the elevator up movie skips....when you get to the platform (I speak of the, "look it's a shooting star" scene) That sometime one of the characters will be upsidedown.... they won't be visable on the screen but you can see their feet on the bottom of the platform.... As if they are upside down. (it's always the third character...the one that doesn't say anything about the falling star)

The only fix for that is to restart the game.....or...just ignore it.

try it in quarter screen mode... the one with the real, tiny viewscreen.

Also play the game in Basic Sound Acceleration mode. You can change that in multimedia in Control Panel, or by type dxdiag in the run menu of windows.

Well if you liked it that much and don't mind... I got some yo-yo asking me on my E-mail to get him past the same area.

I don't want to do it, myself....it takes way too long.

You want it? I'll forward the email to you.....just need to know where to send it.

I don't know if this can be done with the current forum or the new one. (if there is going to be a new one?) But, if the, 'notify a mod' was something like an email or a fill in the blank form, it would be a little harder to respond to. You could also hide the tattle reports from the public.

Hmm... just like Private Email...but Private Email that only your Administration can read.

The public shouldn't be able to see who is that tattler anyway. Usually just leads to more trouble. Especially, if the thread turns out to be okay.

On the flipside....I don't know if this forum is big enough to really need a notify a moderator link. I also am not sure if it would increase your workload or decrease it. Could go either way, I guess. At the very least...you'll see who the crybabies are.

Anyway...have fun with that... it's not a job I'd ever want.

I think Aaron's thinking of epsxe... as far as skipping movies with the function keys. But I'm probably wrong.... I do remember a Function key allowing you to get past Chrono Cross, but I think they fixed that since then.

And vyen....... why did you make your user name so long.
Thanx to you, every thread that you post to is going to be jacked up.

The only thing that would be relatively easy to do is for someone to play thru for you.... but since you made your username so long..... I feel you should be punished for that.... so find someone else.

Heh...besides I don't think my FF8PC works, anymore.
I suggest buying a PSone or a PStwo. If you like these type of games...that's what you'll need, anyway. PC is seriously lacking when it comes to J-RPG's and the ports, pretty much all sux.

Dual Handles:
I feel dual handles are the best option, for personal posts... in theory.

But, I don't think a whole lot of people are capable of keeping such a masquerade for a long period of time.  It's really going to boil down to keeping a secret, for the people who know. And staying humble, for the people having the secret.

The only thing I can think of, is to not have handles associated with the title of, "Moderator". But, then....that's not much fun, is it. I doubt anyone would want to be an the, "Unknown Moderator", for free. The payoff of being an unpaid Mod. is respect; isn't it? (Or a feeling of belonging....at the very least.). It's a double edged sword.

Your going to have your favorites and your brown nosers... there is just no, real, way around that. Using dual handles will only hide it for a little while. It just going to depend on how long the secret can be kept, and how long humbleness is broken by pride. (Pride always wins.)

edit:
heh...guess I should have hit the post button before lunch...and not one hour after it..... I was expecting this post to fall under Relf's Post of: 2005-06-23 06:17 but, forgot what I was doing.

Oh....and Alhexx you're becoming personal, right now... This is why the idea of dual handles has come up, I imagine. Simply by arguing, you're being seen as a normal user, not a Mod.  In fact, your not playing the role of a Mod. currently...just your average everyday user, that so happens to have Mod privileges. It sends mix messages to new users.... and that's why this forum has become.... immature, for the most part.

end edit.

First time offenses:
Tempory bans would be the best deterrent for first time offenses, I think.  It'll be up to you on deciding what will classify, though. You could also do the expiration like IGN does. When you get a temporary ban there, you must contact the Mod to get unbanned, even if the period of the banning has expired. In fact...you have to contact them to find out why you got banned. It's like, one day you have access, and the next you find yoruself logged into a, "you are banned", page..

But it's one thing to have the tools to do this....It a whole other thing to actually do it, consistantly. That's is when crew selection becomes important...but you already know that.

I haven't messed with FF8 until the posting of this:

I just want to add something....
It's about FF8, I have a Gigabyte FX5900XT, on Win98SE, and I'm using Gigabyte's Driver of Detonator 53.03.

With the AA set to the customized "FF0d" of the original post, the grid lines on the backgrounds are 99% fixed. Great job in figuring out those settings. The other customized FF settings give grid lines, except for that FF0d. I guess I'll mess around with FF7 later..... it's too late to mess with it now.

But that was with Win98 and with a Gigabyte Drive...which I doubt will run with any other Nvidia card...Probably, totally, different drivers from WinXP, too.

But maybe if you pick the closest of the Nvidia drivers and do the Paste and cut for Rivatuner....maybe it will work. Nvidia seems to have a 53.03 in their archive for WinXP.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html

I recall that the black boxes and grid problem came back after a few half dozen or so drivers, later.

It's too much work for me to try it, though.... I'm not desperate enough to want to play FF8PC, again.

I believe Thief has a user made patch that will allow it to work on today's OS's. I got it working on WinXP..I remember that much... I just don't remember what I did to get it working... maybe it will come to me, or I'll find the site that had the instructions or patch....

As for FF7 and old drivers. The gridlines were common for those old Det drivers. The old Det drivers where the 8 bit pallet passed were always broken. You need to find an old driver where the 8 bit pallet says failed.... Come to think of it... I think they all said passed. Rivatuner was the only thing I remember that would turn off the 8bit pallet.

I think the Det 6.50's are the one's you want... After that version, I think that's when the gridlines appeared. And I think the 6.50's also had the 8 bit pallet disabled by default.

And I believe after a certain ver number....12's maybe? And maybe all the way up to the mid 40's? They fixed the 8bit pallet in their drivers, but you needed to fool the TNT patch. You did that by using the ff7config.exe from the patch, but using the FF7.exe from the game....and by not selecting any of the nvidia boxes. But I don't remember the version numbers that started working and stopped working. Each driver had it's own problems.... But I remember one driver version that was near perfect.....I just don't remember what it was. Think it had the numbers 41 in it. Like maybe 12.41 or something.

read the second paragraph.

« on: 2005-06-17 15:44:04 »
I don't know if it works for ATI's but if the 8 bit pallet says Failed... It should.

Use the TNTpatch. overwrite both FF7.exe and FF7config.exe with the ones in the patch.

With luck you'll see the Hardware mode in the FF7config.exe. Select that, Nivida,  and TNT. If you get a black screen you need to install Movieplayer from the install disk. Selection should be right under the FF7installation option and above the Yamaha installation.

Oh wait...FF8? Umm... Did FF8 need the 8bit pallet thing? I'm not sure if it did or didn't.
Nah..I don't know how to get FF8 working. Might need to find an ATI driver where the 8bit pallet is on.  The 8bit pallet being disabled or enabled is controlled by the driver. Lot's of times they just break that part of the driver...or maybe overlook it.
