.....this way we will be closer to the original models already more beautiful, videos like the death of aerith, the end etc. personally the models in this video are great, but too far from the original ^^

That was a good joke. The original models are just one very big pixel with no hands.  ;D The movie file "southmk2.avi" shows it very clearly. But I understand your point. The interesting fact is, that Square use different models in some movies. In the "earithdd.avi" movie for example, Cloud looks different as in the southmk2.avi file. Why they have used the ingame models in the southmk2.avi for example, but don't in others? I am honest, I don't noticed it over several playthroughs myself.  :o

A little bit too dark in my opinion. If you look at the nmkin_4 scene, this lighting would be great. The original scene is not as dark as you did. Otherwise great work as usual.  Maybe more green lights.  :)

That's great Jusete.  The touch of blue light is super.

Overall, they did a great job. Sure, the creator forgot the waterfall, for example. It takes away some of the beautiful surroundings.

But about the color of the water ... It depends on whether you create realistic scenes or not. The water itself is not blue. But sure, blue water would fit the art style itself better.

But in this scene I'm not sure if this is "Mako" or real water. I do not know. In many "Mako" scenes, it's mostly blue too.

But everyone could create their own creations if you don't like the published ones. Everyone is free to do so. I really hope that this project will be joined by a few more people who are really serious. Because the results so far have been great.  :)

Troubleshooting / Re: FF8 HD backgrounds download?

I used for the Database: https://finalfantasy.german-syslinux-blog.de/FF7/ the Palmer program.

U can find it in this thread:
https://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=14532.0

U can set the visible layers and then export the png. But this export each single layer. The layer with the name: scenename_0_00000000.png is the main layer, BUT many details are missing there! If u want to have the whole picture as you can see in the preview window of the palmer program, u have to take a screenshot from this. I used the Windows Tool: Snipping Tool and then edited some pictures with gimp.

For example: I had to edited the scene "midgal" and some others, in order to have all layers (Background&Foreground) together as a picture. The program palmer show only one thing at a time. Either the background or the foreground layer. So these scenes need special work.

For your FF8 problem. I have no answers. My personal impression is, that FF8 has fewer fans than FF7. Me too, FF8 is a good game, but far behind the 7th.

As far as I know, the [4x Upscale] project edge package is a downscaled version of the original. He shrank the original field scenes to 1K resolution, because some user had problems with the higher resolution ones. The original scenes are mostly in 2K+. I don't know, if the [4x Upscale] project edge contains ALL of the field scenes or just the field scenes from jusete. Don't know.

The FFVII HD FIELD SCENES package are the unmodified original scenes from all modders so far, not just from the user jusete.

So, in conclusion, u don't need the team avalanche field scene packet, nor the [4x Upscale] project edge packet or the normal project edge packet, when u use the FFVII HD FIELD SCENES package. It's all in this single package in 2K+.

Decide yourself.  8)

The most of all available field scenes are only obtainable as raw installations.

But u can create your own IRO file with all available scenes.  The available IRO Packets are not up to date and lag behind for months.

I created an IRO with all files:

https://finalfantasy.german-syslinux-blog.de/FF7/Field-Scene-Packets/

I will update the package every time a new scene is available. I doing this for the database the whole time. So this is no much more work for me.

It's not going to have the most recent updates at all times (but most of the time it will). Sorry about that :|

Jusete doesn't have release versions/dates, so I can't accurately put information in the release notes section of 7H when a new field is added. The best I could do is list them, adding the new field to the list each time, but I don't think the average user is going to know how to come to this thread and check for anything newer.

And I will be honest...I've been working on Qhimm Catalog for many years, and it's taken its toll on me. I am exhausted trying to keep up with ongoing projects (there are many) and keeping them all constantly updated. It's not a simple matter of downloading, dropping them in, uploading and calling it a day. It takes a lot more work/time for just a single mod, let alone dozens of ongoings.

I really want the Qhimm Catalog and Mods of the Round to merge into a single database that the mod authors can access and update on their own. That way I could spend more time on testing proper load orders and writing compilation guides for people to safely load and play.

That is a problem. As a developer u should provide a platform or a possibility to ensure, the modder themselves could easily add their stuff. Have u written an manual for the modders to create their own IRO/Mods packets? It is not your thing to collect all the mods/changes from different threads/sites and then adding them to an existing or not existing IRO File. That is the thing of the modders (normally). U provide just the program! U are Windows or Linux. U don't make pictures, movies, personal data etc!The user does!

The most modders provide their creations as lgp files or as direct files. I like the IRO Files for the structure. U can easily see, which files are for what. Each thing (model) has his own folder. So, if i want to change the Cloud model, i look into the folder with the name "cloud..." and copy these files.

For comparison:
If I download the packets from for example ninostyle i can't say, which file does what. I see only hundreds of files and doesn't know what is for what. A great issue if u are looking for a single character model. That is of course a great deal for the modder, but not for the user.

Maybe you all find a solution for this.  :)

Edit://

I created an IRO with all finished files:

https://finalfantasy.german-syslinux-blog.de/FF7/Field-Scene-Packets/

I will update the package every time a new scene is available. I doing this for the database the whole time. So this is no much more work for me. All modders are named in the readme.

Why many different projects (Iros), if the user want the whole field scene competition? Yep, not necessary. Each modder has his own thread and on the database site are all donation links for each one.

Looks great, but imho it feels like it's too dark. The original has much much brighter colors for the stairs or the handrails for example. Visual marker for the way.

I am looking for Batman in this scene. Where is he hanging around?  Midgar Gotham City Reactor ;D

I think u don't get the point of the problem AxlRose.

He want High-Res quality. To choose smaller images in 1K instead of 2K/4K don't solve the issue with the artifacts in the nmkin_1 scene. And u resized the original scenes from jusete. So, the quality from your resized pack is worse than the quality of the 2K scenes on 2K/4K screens. And was the reason to make the mod not, that some people couldn't play the game with the 2K/4K scenes (gamecrash etc)? Which person should voluntary choose the worse resolution pack, if the 2K/4K pack works? I think, no one.  ;)

Just people with gamecrash issues. But that are just my two cents.  :)

Hey Bonkers,

the images on the site are mostly converted from png to jpg. For example, if Jusete release a preview image of the finished scene in jpg, i put it on the site without any changes 1:1. PNG files are too big and I must think about the trafficload on my site. I have to choose a compromise. The images on the site are NOT always the real ingame quality scenes.

U have to run the game and go to this place to look the "real" quality.  :)

But what u said for this scene..., i noticed that too.

I play on 2k resolution.

No, that is 4K! => 3840 x 2160 ;D

2K is 1920 x 1080 and above.

The first door is fine, but still the second has the spaces. Whatever. Seems like I have to live with the spaces. Thanks for your help.  :)

I don't use the 7TH program. I change the files by my own. I don't want to be dependent from one program.  If this doesn't work in the future anymore (Windows Update or the creator don't want to support it anymore), i can still play the game.

If I replace the files, the order doesn't care in my opinion, because u can only overwrite the file once. And I have no other mod, that replace these files.

Is the IRO Link from the first site the actual? Your gate download from the first site including some files with a different filesize in comparison with the IRO packet. Which one is the right? And if both are the right, why they have different filesizes?

The IRO hasn't a file named ok.tex in it, the gate packet has!
Also the BYCA.rsd + BYCB.P filesize is different.

Thanks in advance.  :)

That was fast!  ;D

The second door has still the problem:

*Dead link removed*

Don't get confused! I have also the new gates installed, but the picture is before I updated. The spaces are still in there with the new gates.

That would be kind with the low and high-res scene. By the way, u wrote some posts ago, that u have fixed the doors... The fixed version is not yet published, right?
