yeah it is. Which is one big reason why it's my last hope for a good FF title.

Well it's not really an 'FF' since it's an action RPG.
But yeah, hopefully they do a lot of things right, and it is well received.

I think a lot of lessons have been learned from XIII, so I'm positive for the future.
This is obvious from their efforts with XIV too, Squenix has really started trying to listening to the community.

Unfortunately, Square are focussing on linear gameplay now, and making everything look realistic. We're unlikely to see the world map again.

Lol what because XIII was really linear, that is the focus now? No.
In fact the producer and director of FFXIII-2 have stated specifically that it will be less linear, so they know its a problem.

As for realism, that's not really an issue. FFVIII is realistic, and had a world map. Also, Versus.

Team Avalanche / Re: Project Bombing Mission Gallery

What is left to be done for the Bombing Mission project?
It seems so close...  :'(

There is possibly things that could be done with the world map's camera, so far i have only figured out how to zoom in and out though as shown in the video below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDKjCUHG0l8

That's pretty cool, the draw distance of the world map really kills it for the zoom out though :(

104
Yeah the camera was being worked on for the 60fps battle mod, but I guess it hit a dead end?
It's a shame, the 60fps battle really looked fantastic.

105
Could you post a comparison of your upscaled battle textures?
Would be interesting to see how much it improves.

Are you using the FFVII PC videos as source? Probably not a good idea.

Graphical / Re: sl1982's Field Enhancement

Just tried this, looks quite good, definite improvement over the originals.
Nice work sl :)

That's looking fantastic DLPB, nice work!

Instead of : "I see Meteor staring me right in the face."

It should be : "I see Meteor staring at me right in the face."

I have to disagree, the original sounds much better. That's how people talk.

The retranslation project is on hold (the actual dialogue translating isn't).

Just curious, how much of the dialogue has been translated so far?

109
Looks pretty good sl :D
I think we need to have a thread showing a whole variety of resizing methods for easy comparison.

110
thats where enemy moves and current actions are.

Speaking of the 'enemy moves' bar, it could probably stand to be moved up slightly.
Looking at this pic, could do the same distance gap that is between the help bar and the menu, to look nice and uniform:

I don't think moving the 'help bar' to the top is a good idea, keeping it where it is will make the 'battle scene' look better as a whole, because of the way the camera is designed ( we are not supposed to see anything down there to start with :D ).

This is the best I could do on this first background, it does not look perfect in game but (IMHO) still much better than the older one which was very pixelated.
I´ve mainly used the plugins "Perfect Resize" (Genuine Fractals) and  "NoiseNinja", a very good solution to removing noise and grain from images among other things to improve the background. So this is the final result:

Your previous pic looked MUCH better than that one.
Personally I think just sticking to resizing will have the best results, any noise filters and such are just going to reduce the detail too much.

Here is Palmer 0.4b: http://85.24.185.102/share/palmer-0.4b.zip

I personally was unimpressed with what fractals could do.

Better than the stretching the game does though, surely?

Maybe it would be very unwise to speculate about their purpose, creating alot of confusion and misinformation in the process.
Some of them do nothing, most of them are of absolutely no use to anyone but me and the rest should only be modified if you have a very good reason to. I can almost guarantee that you (yes, you) will not find anything useful.

Dude, this is exactly why they are asking for documentation.
People will always speculate if you 'hide' features lol.

IMO throw a Readme in your zip with your Installation instructions and Changelog, add a Known Issues and Advanced Features section, and your dreaded 'confusion and misinformation' will be alleviated somewhat.

widescreen_hack = no ; Dunno

Would love to know what this is!
Personally I hope its a hack to make the FF7 field screens better on widescreen resolutions (without black bar at bottom).
Obviously whatever this is, it does nothing in release builds, but something Aali is planning possibly? Can only hope :P

115
Awesome, I agree that the FF7 fat borders look horrid lol.
Looking forward to what you come up with.

2.  The red arrows indicating "All" is smaller.

You know, I remember the first time I played FF7, I had no idea what those red arrows meant haha.
I wonder if there is a better graphic we could use?

116
I gave it a whirl, and it looked really odd to me, but I couldn't figure out why.
Then I finally realised, it's because the limit bar is before the time bar!

IMO it looked much better the other way, same style as FFIX bars basically.
Looking at it know, I really like how the FFIX time bar is 'on top' of the limit bar too, make its look less flat.
I think that could look pretty nice.

117
Actually, I can't think of any other than the hojo fight.  :-P If you don't move that scene it should be fine.

Also the plant monster in Gongaga.

118
Haha fair enough.
May look different when right-aligned too, who knows? So yeah best to decide at the end.

It's definitely a big improvement either way, I'm just being picky coz I like it :P

119
1. Yeah, though I don't really like it on FFX either :P I just preferred the small gap you had in previous pics :)

2. Ok, I tried aligning the names to the bottom of the first bar, like FFX:

Original:

Names moved down slightly:

120
My Suggestions:

- The time/limit bars are too close to the numbers, looks a bit cluttered, even a pixel or 2 separation may look good.
- The character names look too high, I can see you are aligning with the numbers, but it doesn't look quite right to me.

121
Yup that's what I was talking about, looking great!

Though I must say I did like the un-aligned bars style you were doing before, so something like this possibly?

122
Wow guys, your progress is simply awesome. I'm loving it!

Is it possible to have some graphics behind/around the time/limit bars? Like the FFX limit bar?
Just so it looks like a bar really 'filling', instead of just lines.

Also - any thoughts on a good spot to put the Help text?

123
The New battle interface (ff8 style) comes after, and will take a bit of designing so it looks great. I am working on the menu at this minute and all is going well.  Kranmer has sorted the final values and problems out, and so now it SHOULD be easy.

Woohoo! That will be incredible!

Any progress on the eye opener / white flash problems?
FF8-style battle fade-in would be awesome.

Releases / Re: Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth (PSX and PC)

Do you plan to release a second demo Bosola?
I have refrained from playing this because my feedback would likely be the same as others have mentioned, might as well keep my 'fresh set of eyes' for later. :)

125
I'm pretty sure those FPS values are correct. Even without the driver, you'll notice the game will still run at that speed.
And even if it isn't correct, 1-2fps more shouldn't be noticeable at all.

Running the game without the driver doesn't really work for me, so I'm not sure, but I assumed it supposed to be 30 / 15 fps.

Besides, the only reason I checked the fps was because I noticed the game looked too fast, especially in the field.
