The PSX buttons will be added to Steam in the new version, XBox will not.

I think that's a bit silly, and I assume is motivated only by nostalgia.

This is a PC game, and here on the PC, Xinput / Xbox button layout has been the gamepad standard for a good 10 years now.

Xbox gamepads, and other PC gamepads that use the 'ABXY' layout, are used by the overwhelming majority of PC gamers.

Could you please add the option to choose?

If there are any free servers I'm willing to try it... Are there any?

There will probably be a 30 free trial or something when ARR comes out.

11 was bad enough, 14 was an utter failure and they're trying to resurrect it, lets all sit back and watch it fail for a second time.

XI was a great game, but certainly a niche product. That considered, it is still the most profitable game in the Final Fantasy franchise, which is another reason they are going to such lengths to fix XIV.

oh great, so we can not only have obscenety screaming kids that have PCs but also those who have a PS3
the joy
the joy.

So now your problem is not only with the way business works, but with online gaming? Or kids lol? Don't be so bitter at the world haha.
Besides this isn't Xbox Live, and there is no built in voice chat. You generally just hop on a Ventrilo or Mumble server with your clan mates, good stuff.

Probably for the same reason as a thousand other things in the world. Money.

True, but part of that is restoring the Final Fantasy brand. They are pretty ashamed of the shockingly bad FFXIV release (and FFXIII to a lesser extent). They know it's damaging their company.

They made a public apology, they made the game free to play for a long time because it was so bad, and they have spent the last few years not only maintaining the current version, but building an entirely new game that everyone will get for free (everyone that bought the original). They even make development decisions based on player polls, and made a forum to gather feedback, which is all pretty unheard of for Square.

Honestly the new dev team behind FFXIV ARR deserve nothing but kudos for their efforts. There is actually a lot of positive buzz about ARR in the MMO community too, who are all sick of WoW clones. It'll be released on PS3 as well, which is really lacking in MMOs. It'll be good for everyone if this goes well, I hope it does.

Awesome stuff, I'm currently playing through you Final Fantasy IX Unleashed patch on my phone, and it is fantastic.

Do you plan to make a PC version of this also?

V5 looks incredible, good stuff, hope to see more!

Nice work, although I agree there is too much glow/bloom.

I would like to see how this looks without the saturation and glow, sometimes subtle is better.

ALLready first ENB mods(dx9) for this re-release are on the web :

That looks pretty cool, maybe just a tad too dark. Link to the mod?
Any chance for something like this with Aali's driver?

Sounds cool, but then I got to the part that says how Fearsome, Unforgiving, and Brutal it is compared to the Hardcore mod.... and ran away crying and screaming.

So apparently, it's hinted that Chocolina is the grown up version of Sazh's Chocobo chick.

Mind =  Blown.

This is true lol, it's in some of the fragment descriptions.

I wonder if Sazh loses the chick in the DLC while he's time travelling or something.

No idea. I wouldn't be able to rank the ones you listed either - they are all great games in their own way, even 11 :P

But that's my point really, XIII-2 is a cool game in it's own right. Don't get swept up in the 'but these final fantasy games were better' nonsense. If you like JRPGs it's worth a try, and if you don't like it, maybe the next one will be more your flavour?

I can only imagine how much better received the game would be if it didn't have 'Final Fantasy XIII' in the title..., or even 'Final Fantasy' for that matter. People get too emotional, and can't help but compare it to their others favourites!

The reason it has gone lower than XIII is likely to do with fan backlash.

Exactly right, these aren't level headed reviews to be taken very seriously. These are fans still pissed off from XIII and XIV. This is why the actual score, not the user score, is much better.

This gametrailers review is pretty spot on actually: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AWPhQqYIwg

Or just read Prince Lex's mini review above, he's on the money. Especially about Serendipity lol, it really is a pretty shitty attempt at a 'Gold Saucer'.

It is currently scoring among the very worst FF in history at Metacritic by user score (actually I do believe THE worst).  7.2 for playstation 3 and 5.9 (FIVE POINT NINE) for Xbox

hahaha @ this

The fact that XIII is higher than XIII-2 is pretty obvious proof that these kind of scores should be taken with a grain of salt, wouldn't you agree?

Sure, you can argue that the unique XIII style battle system isn't as good as <insert favourite FF battle system here>, but the whole 'things just keep getting worse and worse' attitude is pretty darn silly.

The fact is, from playing XIII-2, you can see that Square have taken HUGE steps in the right direction, and taken on a TON of player feedback.

Things are looking up my friend. Based on what I have seen, I'm actually pretty excited for what the next Final Fantasy will bring. It also will certainly not use the same XIII style battle system, another plus in your books.

If you liked FF XIII then the sequel is even better and you should go get it right now. If you hated the previous game you’ll find nothing to like about XIII-2.

This guy has no idea.... XIII-2 is nothing like XIII.

I'm about 22 hours into XIII-2 now, and its actually pretty darn great.

Silly question, but would this mod look bad with a 320x240 resolution?

I'm pretty sure anything looks bad at 320x240 :D

I made a decision to make each side equal.  The alternative looked crap.  :) So yes it is normal.

Is it possible to extend both sides, so they are still equal, but without the gap?

I kinda agree it looks like a bug, sticks out in an otherwise pretty flawless menu overhaul :)

47
Very nice work NetHead, would definitely love to hear this project :)

48
Wow that Jenova remix is really great! Love it!
Look forward to hearing more, just remember to make them as looping OGGs so we can use them in-game.

YAY Rebirth is alive! :D

- holy, air and wind element abilities

Air and Wind? Huh?

As time goes on, I'll be able to start adding some of the more ambitious changes the earlier Rebirth attempted. These include completely new enemy behaviours, NPCs that talk about local enemies, new bosses / enemy encounters, and a few more things I can't reveal yet.

So excited for this stuff! Though I definitely agree that the basics should be done first.
