Ok Ive got the repository, Ill begin familiarizing myself with the data and figure out a way to implement sound.

How should I go about this? Make code that plays sounds at specific times or...?

Is it possible to modify qgears to allow easy sound handling, like a custom tool?

Just trying to figure out the best route to follow here lol.

Sorry for cluttering up the unrelated section. Seems like I have 6 or 7 fairly new posts in here. I apologize for whoring my ideas on the forum but sometimes I cant help it, I like to talk to/get input from you guys.

Surely there must have been other games in the past with data stored this way that have been modded.

Id just really like to do some texture work to the game. Please, anyone, if you have the faintest Idea of what direction to lead me, please let me know.

Edit: HAH! I found a way to get all my files into folders for the bins they were in, then all into ONE folder for easy editing. Found all the textures! Jeff Mann FTW! Now if I could figure out a way to rebuild the bin file with my custom texture replacing the other one, everything would be gravy right?

Mirex made the extractor and I can only view and convert the images in Bitturn. Oddly enough, their type header is"megaman legends pic".

The images come out it grayscale, thats allright isnt it? I edited an image but now I cant find a way to convert my bmp back into a .tm file, or get that .tm back in the .bin file.

Any idea?

That might explain the two wheels facing the camera, but you can clearly see upon studying the video that this isnt the case with the two wheels away from the camera.

Plus there are several other videos of it driving regularly.

but the rims are clearly turning at the end... and how would you get the wheels to be EXACT every frame? I mean thing of what kind of awesome coordination would be needed to pick the 4 wheeler up and turn the wheels backwards for every inch and frame that they move it?

I fail to see stop motion doing this.. Its looks to perfect, even stop motion professionals cant make it look PERFECT

How IN THE WORLD are the wheels not moving. Ive studied this video for like 10 minutes now and can see no reasonable solution.

One guy in the comments said that the wheels could be doing 25 rotations per second ecactly, and if thats what the camera records at then the result would be non-moving wheels. But come on, what are the odds of the wheels moving at the precise speed of the camera for the entire video

I also see no ways how something like this could be faked. Care to solve the mystery?

EDIT: I studied the shadows and it seemed that when it comes back into the light you can see movement in the shadows.
My wife then pointed out the bolts/rivets on the tire rim. At the very end you can see them spinning on the rim, as if the rim is turning and the tire is not... Freaky.

Im missing something here lol.

The tortoisehq program is downlaoded. I chose to run the workbench. When I work inside that it seems I can only access stuff off my pc. How do I use it to access the repository?

I havent had them long, but performance wise its a massive step up from all my previous cards.

However at the moment Im experiencing slighjt freezes accompanied by an audio buzz when in games or videos, but its probably driver related.

Also am having a weird issue where my desktop artifacts like craZy, or not neccasarily artifacts, but all my windows try to jump in and out and half triangles of the windows will go missing/appear everywhere.

Once again most likely drivers.

As far as performance goes, these things are insane. If I can just get these problems nailed down everything will be great :)

I have this game and its total crap. Im trying to mod it to make it look better but I cant get at ANY of the games data.

In the game folder I have the exe, a SPH folder(containing all .wbk files) and a DAT folder(containing all bin files)

How would I go about getting at the information contained in these files?

Can anyone help me with my graphics, I cant get direct3d option to work, I am just alittle confused. I can only run FF8 under the software renderer which I think might be causeing some minor frame skips during battles and gf scenes. When I try direct3d acc. it just gives me a quick black screen and crashes, I tried compatability mode for 95,98, and 2000 but they dont work and 98 will start it up but only a black screen no sound and i think it just freezes. I have directx 9.0c and win xp. My laptop in an ibm thinpad x21 with ati rage mobilitly-m agp 4mb graphics card. I came about getting the ff8 pc version cause it looked alot better than running ff on epsxe emulator plus the cool mods. But anyway please help, thanks

Good God man my cell phone has more power than that laptop. The system is probably the problem.

64 mb Ram? 4mb GPU? 700 Mhz Cpu? Thats pretty ancient dude.

Ok guys, I now have unlimited free time. Id like to give a lot of it to q-gears. I tried messing with it like a year ago and it confused me greatly.

Can one of you fine fellows lend me a guiding light so that I can lend you a helping hand?

I guess what I need is a simplified guide of how to get started and then a direction to work in.

Please Im serious about doing this, but I can tell Im going to need a little assistance to get started. If any of you can direct me, I will be more than happy to work on this for years.(Ive already been here 1.5 years, and dont plan on leaving ANYTIME soon)
Plus I see Q-Gears as the ultimate step forward for the community as a whole.
