... waaaiiit a second, it shouldn't be doing that on the world map /=.

It does this in the field because the pre-rendered backgrounds are cut up into squares and re-compiled in-game.  But i think you photoshoped that picture you have there, as the world-map is 3D and not stored in chunks /=.

Well is there any possible way to fix this? (I don't want to use Software Mode) or is there no hope?

I only have the High Res Patch Installed, on Windows Vista, ATI Readon x700, 2.0 GHz Celeron. I've been using the nvidea TNT fix since I cant just use HW Accel. with out one of the fixes on.  I've tried Alternate Pixel Center but that only fixed a few things.

From everything I have read I don't believe there is a fix for the grid lines when using an ATI card. I tried everything a while back when i was using a x850xtpe including the APC and other things learned on these forums and got no results. If anyone else has learned anything new then shoot, but I ended up buying a Nvidia 8800 which sorted things for me.

Well [GLG] Sirius,I'm not going to switch cards for one game, so I guess I'll live with it.

rugbykid, no, this has occurred even before the High Res patch.

Yeah, I was just lucky it was upgrade time of the year for me anyway. If I do find anything out I'll let you know, I've got a friend in the same boat.

Mine does the same thing if I change my graphics from TNT to Riva128. Go into your config and go into thr graphics settings and see if that's that problem, try using software mode if that doesn't work. Also, try updating your video card drivers.

To all the people who don't believe this is a problem, it is, I can show an actual screenshot of my computer doing the same thing.

I have a GeforceFX 5600 and it works fine, try all the about measures and see if they work. If not, search google for "FFVII PC Nvidia Fix" there's some sort of patch somewhere to fix it.

I'm almost certain its your ATI settings. In catalyst turn off any AA or AF you have enabled. This is also a problem with Final Fantasy VIII. Its an ATI Radeon issue I think. Also in the configurator make sure you tick tnt in the display settings.

I had the same thing happen to me, using the nvidia fix and whatever didnt work.

Only way to make the game run was to use Software renderer, I think it's because of the latest Nvidia drivers, because I played the game months ago, and another time a year ago before that, and at those times I never had that problem.

I would use hardware and either TNT or Riva and it would work, but now if I use those, I get the mosaic effect with the grid lines being green/something like that, using software rendering everything works perfectly fine.

Something else : Can't run the High-Res patch because of this, using the High-Res patch with this bug actually makes the game crash when a fight occur.
