Believe me, I've spent dozens of hours editing the game's dialogue to spice up some of the bad writing/localization. Each scene will still feel the same, but they will at least be a little bearable to read (and listen to).

102
Seriously, REMOVE the basketball scene. It's NOT needed. It's the worst part of the game.
Yeah, that's not happening. People got upset when I planned to remove the scene with the bickering guards in front of timbers train station. I'm not about to remove the one scene that ties the whole game together.

103
I can't mod battle scripts yet (nobody can). When that's possible, this mod probably won't change anything about battles aside from supporting voiced dialogue. If it's possible, the only other thing I would do is allow players to skip part or all of the gf animations.

The only new "content" in this mod will be added/modified dialogue. I don't plan on adding new battles. There are several other mods that edit battles for difficulty and balance reasons, they will be compatible with this mod.

So... Humm.... Beta test release... Cof cof...
I plan on doing an actual release once I finish the Zell minigame (it's the only thing on the list that isn't done). The only things that will be missing are VO bugs which don't matter until I've released that project, and that won't be until much later.

105
The game doesn't ask you to rename Zell, Quist, etc to begin with (in fact, it can't, those names are always the same). As for GFs, there is no way to force default names for them. You actually obtain GFs by naming them. There's no way around it.

on the music volume side of things, I was thinking it would be like kingdom hearts, where when the voice acting happens the music drops in volume, and when there is no voice acting it will return to its original volume, but it seems after seeing your Squall's Speech during the Garden Battle video that the music will always be at a lower than normal volume.
Actually, the mod already does this on a by-cutscene basis. Your game music while exploring will be normal, and will only be reduced during cutscenes.

If you have a few hours free, you can go to my twitch archive and watch me play through most of the game with partial voices. I give a lot of developer commentary on various things, some of which you've talked about here.

I still think it would be a good idea to release the mod by disc number, so in that case you could say release disc 1 voiced for november 2015, disc 2 for february 2016 etc, I think this would be better than releasing the whole thing in late 2016.
The thing is, I don't work on things in chronological order. 1/3 of the voices are done, but that doesn't mean it's all on disc 1. A lot of it is on disc 2. They're all over the place. I couldn't release a disc-1-only mod even if I wanted to (I entertained that idea but I have little control over when each disc gets finished).

Your portraits idea is really sweet. Unfortunately that will never happen because the game can't and never will be able to do that.

would it be possible to release a public beta ... don't be worried of people running into issues, that is fine as it would be a public beta.
Despite what the younger generation has been misled to think by garbage game developers like Blizzard 2.0, the point of a public beta is not to give people your unfinished, buggy work for the fun of it.

I don't do public betas for the same reason I don't walk outside with half my clothes missing.

And just to update while I'm here, I recently got a new job and moved, so I haven't actually done anything for this project (except a few recordings) in the last month or so. Once I'm settled into my new place, things will speed up again.

I'm hard pressed to create a smartphone app which would make me a millionaire. Are there any good ideas out there? PS my friend is an idiot!
When I read this my brain translated it to

Does anyone want to give me a few million dollars that they could make instead?

The VG market is too big for a crash. EA and several other companies know this well, which is why they release the highest number of incomplete, buggy games and sports re-titles as possible. They know people will buy them at full price on release no matter how bad they are.

Unfortunately, modern "gamers" are too stupid to do their research, and many casual gamers don't know what a good game is.

1/3 of the dialogue is done, and 99% of the backend work is done. It would be pretty silly of me to NOT finish this. I'm glad you're excited, but these things take time.

Yeah, you can't just give people the game's data files. We don't support piracy here.

The battle stats are located in the battle fi, fl, and fs files. Just distribute those by themselves.

113
Do not fix "Selphie faces towards the camera" in any scene please! :P
Why not? In most of the places where it happens, it's a scripting error by Square's eventers.

114
Try modifying the "game capture" source of the scene, and choosing FF7 again, then hitting ok. Then right click on it and choose "fit to screen".

Sometimes, when you go back and forth between things of different resolutions, that happens. You just have to reset the capture source.

115
Oh, really? I looked all through the scripts and only found it in a testbl area (which are sometimes used), but must have dismissed it because the conditionals didn't make sense.

I never knew that!

116
While streaming a test of the voicover project, some people got a sneak peek at one of the features in the changelist (well, a few of them, but this one is the one that got the best reaction)

117
They're plain remasters. They come with some peoples' packages of FF7Music. They're rather common.

118
The only track that isn't a default remaster is the bombing mission orchestrated theme. I'm sure if you youtubed "bombing mission orchestral" you'll find it in one or two pages.

We've just started recording with the actors. We don't have anything to show yet.

I direct most of the actors live. I wanted Squall to be less emotive than the other characters for the first part of the game. He gets more emotive and emotional after disc 2 when Rinoa goes comatose. I did something similar for Rinoa's character. She takes a personality 180 over the course of the story.

Look in your FF7 folder. There will be a file called ff7_opengl.cfg. That is your OpenGL config file. Paste its contents in a code or quote block.
Look in your FF7 folder more. There will be several text files ending with the .log extension. These are log files. Paste them in code or quote blocks. You should have at least two, maybe more depending on which mods or other programs you're using.

Sounds like Konami needs to press up up down down left right left right B A start.

I had a Windows update once that disabled all my networking completely. Now I only let them install required security updates, and I never try any betas or RCs.
