If I was you I wouldn't worry so much about character viability, all the characters are viable in this mod, I'm using a team of Cloud red XIII and Tifa.

The Jenova boss was difficult.. IIRC I had cloud physically attacking without any materia and Tifa and Red both with cure > all just incase something bad happened as Gjoe has already pointed out Headband helps, also some have said getting the hp plus from the ceremony is essential but I have to tell you it's a lot easier to buy 3 from CC, I managed to do it with only 2 but wow I wish I got 3.

Great thread and thanks a lot for the links e1sunz I'l definately be watching when I get some spare time, same boat as OP I got in contact with Timu and he was helpful in pointing a few programs out to me, he reccomended Blender (free) 3dsmax and maya if I don't mind shelling out some cash. so I chose blender and have been fooling around with it for some time to get used to the program.

I understand the sculpting to a degree but importing I am clueless about. Hope to find something when I return to this thread, anyway thanks again. and good luck with the modelling Lionsmane.

No, there was a boss (and I found it to be a very good fight) but no random encounters.

Also, in the Gelnika... is it just me, or are the Unknowns back to front? I remember Unknown 3 always being the hardest and Unknown 1 the easiest. On this, it's the other way around.

EDIT: Still can't beat the f*cking Mime boss. The HP<-->MP one was a very nice fight though, and in fact, I might actually see potential use for HP<-->MP against the Mime one.

... That f*cking Silver Dance attack is also %-based? Dude... I honestly can't see any way of beating these guys, short of powerlevelling and brute forcing them down... and I don't even know how well THAT would work. The one at a time are fine, but when there's four of them at once, potentially capable of taking out two characters and leaving the last one at 1 HP within one "round", with all their attacks being %-based meaning that no amount of raising your HP works (indeed, I dropped the HP Pluses for this fight to make healing more economical)... What am I missing? I did click to Susano'o being Wind-elemental, but that's still only a minor help...

The KOTR boss is also somewhat overkill, but at least in this case it's somewhat justified by what its guarding. Was a bit surprised to see Gravity absorbed after the other materia cave enemies being vunerable... but my biggest annoyance is how he can heal far quicker than you can dish it out. I'm guessing Shadow Flare is a must for this one? (I didn't bother to get it from the Quadra Magic boss... guess I'm waiting for Ultimate Weapon now.)

With the Mime boss it's a good idea to have your characters hp end in odd numberss so it takes 3 hits instead of 2 to take out one character, also regen helps keep your health above half also making more hits for your people, quadra magic is very helpful but not neccesary. It could be argued luck based but with a sound strategy its not too hard a fight. With the right trategy you might need 1-2 restarts.

Too true the garden fight was one of my favourite ever final fantasy moments. The others being FFIX where Zidane turns into a loner, all of FFX's Rikku doggy paddle moments, FF7 Cloud beating on Aeris - Aerith in the temple. and the Gondola with Tifa scene in FF7.

I have to ssay my most hates part of 8 is when they find out they were all childhood friends, Why didn't any of them recognise eachother? It was too cliche' and coincidental for my liking. But I agree 8 had some amazing moments.

Speaking of FFVIII what the hell was with NORG? It wasn't only me that noticed that it came up from no-where, was accepted by all characters without questions and was never spoken of again was it?

I have to say I actually loved FFX the world was immersive the NPC's didn't seem fake, I thought the main characters were all great (which is rare for me especially given that it had voice acting) and hunting for treasure chests is one of my many joys in Final Fantasy games.

As for Tidus, I hated him for nearly the whole story, the part when the Fayth tells him he is a dream and he just acts the same I respect him for that. I know a lot of people hate Tidus but c'mon he had more of a personality than Squall, I hated that guy and all his dots.

Also as for the FFX was the decline of the FF series, I have to completely disagree while it had some elements that were shared by 12 it had far more shared by those that came before it. FFX-2 never happened its easier on my heart that way.

As pointed out by a few people FFX seems linear because it does not have a world map and while this may seem like a bad thing to many (including myself) it certainly has it's perks, I couldn't imagine FFX with a world map now because they would have had to remove the great looking nature trails. While I love the exploration of a world map I believe having these kind of "zones" sucks you into the world.

FFXII on the other hand scrapped away with the battle system interesting NPC's and story, while you can argue it had political story I do not believe a game where you can remove the main character and the story will remain unchanged can claim to have a good story.

I always assumed he meant he was going to kill them all. But at the same time it doesn't make sense.

Completely Unrelated / Re: Euclideon

I have been reading up about this and apparently they use an algorithm that tells the engine what resolution your screen is on and it responds showing one "voxel" per pixel or something like that. Apparently it can be run on software as it only shows what is on the screen. Hey if I've misquoted I doubt it'll be long before this kind of technology can be run given how fast processors are advancing.

The biggest drawback I can see with it is the animation, but again they say they have it working so I guess I'll just have to keep an optimistic mind about it. It would be brilliant if their engine could get to a state where they can run games on it and hey if not it's still not useless as there could be for it in art, engineering, science, teaching etc.

It's a shame new gamers have missed out on so many of the brilliant games from the past. I do not envy them at all. I mean damn the feeling I got when iI first played Golden eye, they have missed out on so much.

I mean to colour code the text so black text for Black mage white for White mage ect. But on second thought it would look confusing, messy and just all around bad, it was the ramblings of a mad man.

Level doesn't factor into Item Drops. In fact, item drops are not considered until after the battle is over. Once the battle ends it loops through each defeated enemy and totals the exp, ap, and gil won from each enemy and items are dropped in the process. They're calculated like stealing items, but without initial level considerations.

Basically, if (random number AND 63) <= [drop chance] then the item will drop. The random number is determined completely by the RNGLUT in the KERNEL.BIN. The set is never incremented so it just cruises in a straight line down the numbers checking if they meet the criteria for dropping an item. Take a look at the RNGLUT in WM. I just copied that whole thing and did a MOD 64 on each entry in Excel. It looks like there isn't a place that will let you get six items from six different enemies unless those enemies have a high drop chance. It doesn't look like it's possible to get more than three from a Battery Cap x6 battle.

In order to be able to win six items from six enemies, the drop chances needs to be pretty high for an item.

Code: [Select]
Drop rate:    RNGLUT pointer:
27+           31, 32, 33, 120
26+           32, 33, 120
25+           120

As you can see, there has to be freakishly high rates of dropping for this to occur. A drop rate of 8 is typical for "common" items. Some go as high as 32, but that's Vlakorados and King Behemoth which are singular enemies.
Since most drop rates are 8, then it's impossible to win more than three from any number of enemies in a given battle. There's a 10/256 chance that that will occur.

Master of the Kernels you are my friend.

Damn that 3rd one. It almost looks too good to be in Final Fantasy brilliant job.

Still prefer the original though It fits in more.

Don't take this too heavy but I think WallMarket allows you to change materia and Libre allows you to change Limits.

71
The 100% chance showed that it is possible in thoery and it wouldn't break the game.

Does anyone know if changing the drops in ProudClod enables 3 item drops?

Bit of a longshot but is there a way to colour code the text on the materia description?

That way you could colour code the classes if you needed to save further room.

Abbreviations I can think of:
Black Mage and White Mage I think is right.
Time mage maybe TimM just to even the characters whith the blk and wht mage.
Knight/ Soldier Either of the first two or 3 characters work as they won't get confusing.
Dragoon as drgn also works fine.
Beserker maybe bsrk instead of brsk though that may have been a typo I don't know.
And Summoner is fine as Sum.

I also prefer the previous, the second texture seems like it would be better places in Kingdom Hearts than Final Fantasy.

Never know guys reducing the lighting might make him look older, he probably looks young:
1. because of lack of facial hair
2. because in that light he looks like a cartoon.
Really is great to see someone doing a character other than Cloud, Aeris, Barret or Vincent.
