It's not corrupted, it's just on a really hard-to-read part of the disk (Disk 2).

Clean the CD, then drag and drop the movie onto your desktop and try to play it from there.

Yes, it is.  In fact.. didn't Saint impliment the chcoocbo race fix in the high-res patch, or am I thinking of something else?

Just install this one, I'm pretty sure =)

You're probably looking at the prize screen wrong.  You can win one of three prizes, and the one that flashes should be the one you get.

I've never had your problem before, so i'm mearly guessing it's an error on your part (no offense).  However, if you can get some screenshots of this happening (like it shows tht you'd win a tranq, and in the next shot it says "recieved megaelixer", then maybe we can take a closer look at the problem

157
Hmmm...

We've all shared your frustration.  But mweh.

Don't blame eidos for makinga crappy game; blame them fro making a crappy PORT.

And besides, the PC version was released like, 6 years or more ago, abck when AGP was just getting started; you can't expect any game from back tehn to look or run good on a modern machine.

When using the high-res patch, make sure you check the TNT mode box in ff7config (yes, run that program first before trying to play the game to set your settings)).

And what do you mean, incompatable?  What exactly is wrong?

w00t, 800 posts!

They found a way to make boobs bounce, so they've just been doing that and watching demos of Tifa doing jumping jacks.

There is higher quality of the psx movies... when viewed in ff7, there's less graphic distortion.  It's JUST BARELY noticable, but still, I'm all for even the smallest improvements.

..yeah, i tried someting similair to this, but i noticed a slowdown in the movies, and mis-synching of video/audio.  And when i reverted back to the old movies, the problem persisted, and it's been that way ever since, even through multiple windows installations and new hardware, hahaha

or maybe i always had that and never noticed...

"Chase of the highway" (AC) is a perfect substitution for the bike minigame =)

I also like "Little Busters" by The Pillows for the victory tune (its the "victory tune" in the anime FLCL)

..are you or are you not running it in compatability mode?

No, but i suspect Dziugo could whip something up when he's not busy.

Though constant limits are kinda retarded, imho

Well, i DO know how to spell "does" ;)

Kidding aside, the reunion patch is NO LONGER being updated.  instead, thre's a newer project called "The NPC Reconstruction project".

Currently, no AC-like models have been done.  There was some discussion about it, but it was decided that ac-looking characters in ff7 just couldn't happen.  The engine can't handle enough information to make the models look that good... and if you just wanted to have the models be as low-details as the originals but with thier ac clothes, they'd look ridiculous.

[edit] spelling, because if i'm gonna pick on someone else's, then mine should be perfect =P

So that it looks like he has a reason to be pissed off durring that final (thrown) fight?

Well, it probably IS possible, but i wouldn't know where to begin.  It would probably involve editing the proerties of the limit, which is something that i don't think has been explored too thouroughly.  The mroe I think about it, the more complex it seems to get, and it hurts my brain =(

I just tried this: yeah, that mini game has NEVER GONE THAT FAST HOLY CRAP o_O

I'm using the high res patch, version 1.5.0 of ff7 music... (I could never get 1.51 to work the way i wanted to.. try using 1.5?) uhm, and if i have any of D.s patches installed, I forget. (might have battle-swirl fix installed... Also, Dziugo, I havn't gotten around to beta testing; sorry man, i'll get to that when i have more than an hour of free time -_-)
But yeah, the game went at warp speed for me.  it was kinda cool.

running a 6600gt and a 2.2 g proc with a gig of ram, and had both monitors running at the time so that i could use the task monitor and ff7 music to look for any oddities (spike in resource use, debug info, etc)

Becasue the sephy patch screws with char.lgp, and makes it unrecognizable to other patches.  So, sorry, no sephy-patch for you if you want hands.

I'd say uninstal and reinstal the game, then decide what you want moe: Sephy, or hands.  Can't have both, it seems =(

Q-gears is basicaly going to be a multi-platform game engine which can use ff7's files.  In that respect, intsead of editing and mucking with ff7's code, the people working on this can make a game with a more modern graphic system so we can select our own resolution settings, i guess.  And since it will run with ff7's data, well... then you could -essentially- play ff7 at 1024 by 768 or w/e.  At least, that's as near as I can tell.

Look it up in the tech-related section.

Yeah, i know... damn pipe dreams.

Would it be possible to somehow model the characters so that thier joints and such aren't as obvious, or would we still need animation/bone data to show where such polygons are?  (for instance, when Rude bends over a bit -his default pose, no less-, his back has a pac-man-mouth-looking effect)

Cyberman: Not sure who you were talking to, but, I basically just want all the battle models to be as detailed as "high-poly Cloud".  I wouldn't ask to go for hyper-realism or anything.  Heck, Cloud wouldn't even need to be done.  Vincent.. mweh, not much you can do for him unless we can add bones and animation data to make his cape flow better (instead of as a series of rather-visible blocks).

Qhimm: Well, it's hard to say what S-Es reaction to this will be.  Only, and ONLY if they are making a remake or they issue a re-release*, will this project run counter to thier money-making goals.  They've made every cent they will EVER make on Final Fantasy Seven in and of itself.  Any store that still has it already paid for it; otherwise, you're looking on e-bay, which S-E does not gain profit from; in fact, that copy was already bought.  So as logn as we're not interfearing or threatening to compete with thier active products, we're safe.

Now, note my remake or re-release note up there.  The PSP is now compatable with PS1 games.  If square decides to re-release ff7 (remade or not), that's the ONLY reason I can see for them to mind this project.  Otherwise, it would be a waste of time for them to care, and I think they know it.

CONTAINIMATION:  Look arouind here for the Saitns HIGH RES patch.  It lets you play the game at a higher resolution, gets rid of "background noise", and eneables AA and AF.  Theres some graphical wierdness (Most notibly, some spell effects only apepar in the upper left part of the screen), but otehrwise it's great =)

KINKOUIN: Go into ff7config and play with the various options.  try unchecking the nvidia box, or hitting "TNT mode" if it's nto already selected.
