Final Fantasy VIII

Hi... I just recently installed Final Fantasy VIII on my Windows Vista Ultimate processor... It seems that whenever I load my Final Fantasy VIII, it just shows a black screen and I cannot exit... Then I tried installing it on my old XP computer and it works completely fine... And I didn't install any patches either. Theres a link below linking to the new computer I have. So is there a way that I could run my Final Fantasy VIII on my Vista?

Did you try the upside-down movie patch? (See the FAQ.)

Does the patch exist for Final Fantasy VIII? I think its only for VII... Well anyways I got it working messing around with the configs..
Well now there is 2 problems...
1. For some reason when I play FMVS there appears to be a black screen flashing quickly once in a while like when its playing the intro you could see a frame that is black and returns back to the movie repeatatively..
2. There are some black squares on my game... I also did install the GeForce Patch... Heres a screen shot of what I'm talking about...

How did you manage to get it working? I can't get my final fantasy VIII working on my Vista machine :/ I have the same problem that you had. Final Fantasy VII works great though! Thanks, Mattie.

Wow lol... Some how I got rid of the black blobs/spots/pallets/tiles! =D but thats not it......
The black blinking issue is still here... And now it blinks even when its not during the FMVs...
Something really funny occurred during my googling.... People say Hardware Acceleration had better graphics than the Software Renderer... I believe it..
Software
Hardware
@Matte
I just messed around configing things...
@Aaron lol some times here too
Now I need to get rid of the blinkin issue...

I have the same problem as the topic starter, but I have vista home Basic.
I played FF7 without any problem, except the few crashes, like at the date.
So I am wondering, how do I fix this?

I just installed FFVIII, downloaded the FFVIII Official Patch and overwrited the files. Then created a new folder called "Game" in my FFVIII folder. Cut & Pasted ff8.exe and binkw32.dll into the Game folder. Then just booted up the game and it worked.
Not sure whether it works for everyone but it did it for me!
