My question is: The "Bonus" section in the Character tab, do those have the same effect as the GF character abilites such as 'Mag Bonus, Str bonus' and so on? Like if I put 1 point in Hp bonus under Squall in the Character tab he will gain an extra point of HP each time he level up?

No, these are values directlyadded to the stats of the characters.

So if I take Squall for an example which has 47 in str at lvl hundred without junction and weapon (if my memory serves me right) and I add 10 str in the bonus field he will have 57 str? It's a basic raw stat addition?

There's one problem I noticed. During the seed mission, I changed the battle model of Zell and Seifer to Laguna and Kiros. When it got to the point to switch Selphie for Seifer, Seifer(Kiros) disappeared from my main group, and instead of getting Selphie I didn't get anyone. Selphie went in the bottom group with Quistis with no way of bringing her into the group. I don't know if it's anything you can fix, but I figured I would bring it up.

Edit: I ran through again and this time with Seifer in my party the whole way. Once it switched Seifer and Selphie it worked out correctly.

Awesome program, I've used it to knock my characters back down when they gain too many levels early!

Struggling with getting the alternative costumes to work, got the box ticked for Squall for example and tried every combination "Locked 1" and "Locked 2" either ticked, unticked or both ticked/unticked and I'm still wearing his normal clothing.

Any help you can give would be great, thanks!

Locks are for the "PHS", and the alternative costume only works in fields where alternative models are loaded by the game (Dollet and Balamb).

Ah, thanks. So you can't have the SeeD uniform the whole time?  :-(

The FAQ for Black Chocobo that sithlord48 linked to in this thread, which describes how to get edited saves working on PS3/PSP, seems to be deleted.  It says "replaced with New Wiki Page", but I can't seem to find that page.  From what I can gather, there is no way to get an edited save file working on PS3 without the help of a hacked PSP.

I got it working on my PSP (I haven't tried going to the PS3 yet), I'm running the US PSN version of FF8.  Here is how to do it; if you have a different version you might have to make some changes.

1 ) You need a hacked PSP (I'm using a PSP-1000 with 6.60 PRO-C)
2 ) Install the CWCheat plugin
3 ) After creating a save file in FF8, open the CWCheat menu (hold Select for a few seconds)
4 ) Go to the Memory Card Management menu
5 ) Choose "Save Memory Card [1/2] to Memory Stick" (choose whichever one has the save file you want to edit)
6 ) Copy the file from the PSP at /seplugins/cwcheat/mc/SLUS_00892-0.mcr to your PC
7 ) Edit the file in Hyne, and save it with the same file name
8 ) Copy it back to the same folder on your PSP
9 ) Load up FF8 on the PSP, go into CWCheat, and choose "Load Memory Card [1/2] from Memory Stick"
10) In FF8, save again, this will write the hacked save file into the protected .vmp file.

If you want to play it on your PS3:
11) Transfer the save game from the PSP to your PS3

A possible solution is download a Disc 4 save from gamefaqs.com, then edit with Hyne

Hmmm, I just tried out the editor, but I can not get it to work..... for some reason neither epsxe nor my ps3 seem to recognice the changes.
although i was sure the ps3 would give me an error it just copied the changed file but like i said it did not change a thing. same for epsxe. but when i reloaded the changed save, hyne recognized the changes. I tried changing char-levels, owned cards, card-rules, items, weapons, everything at once, just one at a time, save after every little change, save after i hanged everything together nothing worked....
oh and the game has the id slus-02082, which was also recognized correctly...
so yeah i do not know what i did wrong......

Check if the file you are editing is the one that is in the memcard folder, and the one you're copying.
