I have severe TMJ issues, jaw problem from grinding teeth while asleep.  This leads me to severe pain and vicious migraines on an almost daily basis.  Got  a lot of visits for scans soon to see what can be done, I have tried mouth guards didn't do much because you just grind that instead.

Despite this I am coping and learning to live with the flare ups that happen.  I don't think anyone can comprehend the pain and problems it causes with sleep and daily functioning until they get it.  Jaw pain causes dizziness, eye floaters, severe pain, migraines, tiredness, nausea, back and neck pain.

Among others.  Just pray if you ever have wisdom teeth out that this never happens to you :P  ;D

edit: And will you all please grow up and forget hermoor.  This forum is going to be soon named "Hermoor woz ere"

yeah that's what i edited.... there are some noticeable difference. 1 of which is probably just caused by the font being squashed a little more.  The tails on the g etc as Covarr said are different, they are chopped off. I'd say they probably edited Verdana.

Yes it will be (erroneously) Fury.  There will be a few things altered however even in the non retranslation, things like the Break limit dialogue box.  I sorted out the grammar there and to go back to the old wouldnt work.  Of course it isn't retranslated as such, just much better grammar.

Touph Ring is Toughness Ring (the ness is there) i.e. a ring that raises strength.  And yeah that was corrected in PC to Tough.  Typoon was corrected to Typhon also (I think).  Tseng "Dying" at temple of ancients was also corrected.  A few little things like that....

If you wanted to mod it yourself, just use loveless.  You would have no issue using search and replace on certain strings and eventually you will have edited the whole game.

1. Was the *^&%*&% Censoring of language removed in the PC version?

Yes although in both you do get the odd "piss" "crap" . 

2. If not is there a mod that un-censors it?

My re translation project hasn't got a problem using swear words when they are necessary and in context.  The thing is that the Japanese game itself seldom uses real swearing.  Usually it seems to be things like "tch" and negative sounds, whenever you see &^%& generally the Japanese game just does something like "damn" or "tch".  Cid uses English swear words sometimes.  The fact is, the English game goes WAY overboard with swearing, and tries to portray barrett as an idiot mo fo. In other words, the English games use of Swearing is nearly always over the top and wrong. 

take Honeybee Inn, there is a room called The ^%&* Room.  In reality this is "The Love Hive" and there is no swearing here AT ALL.

3. What are the general differences between the two versions? I have mostly played the ps1 version,and a friend has gotten me the pc version for my B-day.

Translation was slightly improved, grammar errors partially solved.  Someone else can answer the rest....

progress report.  No I am not just having a long period of rest, I am here yet again at 3 Am working flat out on the smallest of details.  It is getting rather obsessive now...  1 pixel left.... 1 pixel right.

The normal menu is pretty much finished aside from some very small tweaking I consider that done.  The 2 menus left are

Shop Menu
Battle Menu

Shop menu is now half done, and I should have that completed tomorrow.    Battle menu is just the after battle details and that shouldn't take 2 minutes. 

The shop menu has a Sell Materia sub menu which is basically the Materia menu all over again, everything wrong with the Materia menu is wrong here.  It is a 100% copy of the code.

I am not going toput a release date on it again because last time I did that I got smacked in the face by a sh*t load of problems.  Let's just say it is close now...

edit: 4am..  just finished materia sub menu in shop.... next weapon and protection.

Please note that FF7 uses right alignment for values, so there are large gaps I cannot sort out when Gil is 0 for example/.  I have no idea why the Japanese decided to do this.

There is no such thing as an Emulator Version.  An emulator runs a real game.  Epsxe runs a playstation game.  And so your question is, are there any mods for the PS version, and Gemini has worked on those tools.  Look around this forum.

I'm curious though. Because these symbols will be placed in the name selection screen will that mean everytime the characters' name comes up in normal text outside of battle it will appear as the picture bar?

yes....never through about that.  Assuming the texture is placed over all font areas, yes it will.  However, there is a way around that, if you change the field text font in the same areas to show "Cloud" etc by default.  i.e. you edit the field font with the real characters but the others you use textures.  This should work ?

Yes that's easy if the menu supports the characters which I think it does....  as part of the retranslation project I had to change Barret to Barrett and Aeris to Aerith for example.

What you're asking for can be done quite easily by hex editing and if you want me to make you a patch for whatever names you want changing I can do that for you?

If you mean you want those foreign characters to actually choose in the menu, then that would be more difficult and would require editing the game, something I can probably not do.

The original font has them, so as long as you input the correct symbol into an editor like loveless or wallmarket it will be fine.

Use ALT codes or just copy and paste:

Hold ALT and press a code like 0456

As for naming screen haven't checked it in ages so cannot remember.  You could manually insert them into ff7.exe by hex editing if all else failed.   The code set is here:

If you want me to change the default character names at runtime naming screen for you I will create a patch for you.

My translation project does require 2 characters for Mystile > ミスティール > Mystère 

and

Deen > デイン > Dáinn

Although the original did not need them.

Must be some certain condition then....I did do a lot of messing around with it at 1 point and I had this issue.  If anyone ever figures out the exact condition let me know.

I solved the issue by reconstructing the very last entry in the file...it was messed up completely with gibberish (The last entry isn't used, it is just unused save point text).

After I sorted that out the rest saved properly but the fact it became corrupted leads to me believe some kind of issue with Loveless exists...  my guess is the Search and replace function again which is buggy.

This is a known bug with Jenova editor.  Once you have used Jenova to edit your game save, Sephiroth's weapon becomes broken.  It has been a while since I had this issue and I cannot remember the proper work around in detail but it revolved around giving Sephiroth a new weapon with Jenova editor.  I think one of Vincents weapons works.

The only draw back is the animation and sound will be vincents but it should get you passed this dragon.

edit:  Didnt bother reading ALL replies and I should have :P  But anyway for future reference yeah, it is a Jenova problem.

For some reason this text became

I have made a few global edits using search and replace but nothing that should have caused this.   The

but the rest is cut off.

I hope this isn't a recurring problem....  :|

Even when I correct the issue in loveless it gives me:

As you can see, the next line by Marin (Marlene) has now fused onto the last message by the news, even though flevel.lgp is fine when I open in loveless.

mod edit:  See how removing the cursing still keeps the idea of the statement?  We have wordfilters for a reason.

Is that ok?  I never meant to bypass your filter, I used a contraction and it didn't pick up the offending word.  You need to make it so that truck and truckin' are both set to remove truck if you see what I mean?
