Oh dear. I just re-read my previous post and I realized that I said we are editing our sound using Ventrilo. I meant to say Audacity. Sorry, my bad! :|

I'm ready for making it so that you be differnt people at differnt parts or the game, I just need a tutorial or something on Meteor, any clues?
W/B E-Sephie

So you like my idea then!  :-D
If someone gives a tutorial for Meteor I will surely help.

I got this when I played the game back in 1997 on my crappy PC with Windows 95, and now I'm getting it again on my fantastic XPS with Vista. Help? I ran the 1280x960 patch and the HD characters patch, and a couple others as I was instructed.

Try this.
  • Go into Final Fantasy VII Configuration
  • Go on the Graphics tab
  • Under the display resolutions there should be a tick box labeled NVIDIA. If it is ticked untick it, if it isn't ticked, tick it
  • Test it again. If that didn't work then tick the box and change the ballpoint circles next to NVIDIA around. e.g. Instead of RIVA 128 click TNT or vice versa

General Discussion / Re: Strange Aeris speech....

I think she would say it as soon as you see her, she didn't want to be interrupted because she knew she didn't have long left.

Well, I deleted Internet Explorer on my old PC....
Everything went downhill from there.
Loads of programs stopped working etc.

EDIT: Unless you are on a second/third/whatever play through, in which case, you shouldn't be looking for the unfair advantage anyway, you should be looking for enemies you missed first time round to offer a new challenge.

Uh, yeah. I've completed it 6 times  :-)
My favourite FF.
Anyhow, you said that you would have an unfair advantage with this trick. But first of all, you can get a max of 99 sphere levels from this trick, and it takes a few thousand to complete the grid... So it's really just a boost.
Secondly, if you are on the UK version of FFX, you get the unfair enemies called Dark Aeons who do 99999 damage each turn. I think they have the unfair advantage.
Then you have Penance. I won't even tell you bout' Penance.
My third point. This is nothing like Action Replay. This "trick" is not really a trick. It's correct use of skill. There is no cheating involved, or any glitches. It's just the fact that you characters are faster than the enemy. It's perfectly normal and you can do this is quite a few battles if you where fast enough. Also, it's quite hard to get haste at this level. So it does take quite a bit of leveling up.
This is pretty much the same as leveling up.....

I'm kinda special.
Ah, as i type this i just dropped a needle in my keyboard and it slowly sunk in!  :-(
What do I do?

« on: 2008-08-30 17:06:28 »
I was just wondering.
Does Cloud also replace Zack in any of these?
I would use the one that swaps them. Not just turn you into Zack.
Maybe you could use a mix of the two?

problems with vista? ive never had any problems and i didnt install anything other than what came on this discs at first.   eventually i added some things like the phoenix patch and whatever.

Let me shine some light on the subject.
Pretty much. With Vista, different people have different outcomes. For me it took me ages for FF7 to even start. It would flash and then turn off. Now when I play it I have the black screen after intro problem.
Now, for you, you have had no problems. Theres no guarantee that it will definitely work for everyones Vista, majority can't even play it, majority can't do a lot of things. Now future posters, if you can please don't come posting to me saying
"It works for me, you don't know what you are saying!"
Because sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't! Just think of yourself as "Special"
Anyhow, nice guide. I'm sure this will help a lot of people. But like I say, some people may be able to play FF7 because of this guide, when a few people might find it useless!

114
This is for your volume problem.
Go into Final Fantasy VII Configuration (You can find it in the start menu)
Go into the MIDI tab. If the Logarithmic Volume Control is checked, uncheck it, and if it is unchecked, check it. Understand what I mean?
Then go into game and test it again.

------------------------EDIT---------------
Just re-read your post. Ingame there is an option for sound effects AND music....

------------------------EDIT---------------
Oh, whoops.... Wrong game.... :-(

115
Have you tried using the search function at the top of the screen?

116
Ctrl+Alt+Del
If that doesn't take you straight to the desktop then click on a program and click switch to.
If your on vista, Ctrl+Alt+Esc
Also, if you can press the windows button, the start bar comes up right? Next to that should be a button that takes you straight to the desktop. If there isn't, then right click on the bar at the bottom of the page, click properties, and check the box saying Show quick launch then it should come up.

YATTA!
Okay, I have figured out how to fix it for Firefox, something had changed my user.js and prefs.js files. I had to go to

C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxdrcdwz.default

And delete User.js and Prefs.js, Firefox automatically rebuilt them to the original settings, re-installing didn't work.

Now all I have to do is sort it out for Internet explorer.

there are lots of messed up dialogue in the game, which hardly makes any sense. that's why improvement is necessary

Yeah, we've noticed that in FF7Voice so a fair bit of dialogue has been edited so it makes more sense and sounds better to the listener

FF7Voice / Re: Voice quality
« on: 2008-08-27 11:21:27 »
Yes, well we are trying to get the voice quality as clear as possible. First of all we all are using unilateral noise canceling microphones and some of us are using professional equipment, meaning the voices will already be crystal clear. Just the other week we did LOSE our sound editor, I rang him up but he didn't want to come back because he had too many issues. Anyway, we are normalizing and removing noise from our voice files using Ventrilo, if the quality isn't good enough the files get sent back ad told to do again until perfect.

You are probably thinking of Q-Gears. Scroll down to the bottom of the main forum page. Just above FF7Voice.
Nudge nudge. Hint hint.
If you wanna help out with something why don't you get involved in FF7Voice.
We are adding voices to FF7 like 10 onwards. It sounds awesome so far, but programmers are dropping like flies.

Wow Wow Wow Wow!
How The Hell Do I Do That? I'm very inexperienced and I just firgured out how to switch model and animations around, I Need More Practise, and I still need to Fix the Mangled characters, If you can give me a guide I may do this... But the Animations, I wouldn't know how to change them as you go through different characters, a Guide on this to will be helpful
W/B E-Sephie

Oh don't worry about that it wasn't generally directed at you I was merely suggesting it would be a good mod!
Well anyhow, from what I know, to be able to do this you would have to edit one of the lgp files to choose who is the playable main character.
And the change character when needed.
One mod I would love to see would be a Tifa, Cloud swap. If you did that it would be a good idea to swap Zack and Aerith aswell.
That reminds me, I once worked on a original FF7 look advent children model swap. In other words, original lego style characters in Advent children outfits.
I completely finished Cloud and Tifa, BUT my old PC crashed and we had to format it =[
Anyway, i don't know what lgp it would be to have to edit but if I had to take a guess I would say kernal2 i think its called. Or maybe use the program meteor.

Well I was thinking maybe Tifa. Although she gets a lot of speech, you don't really get to see what she really is thinking.
Obviously if you did do this patch you would have to make it so you are Cloud when he is without Tifa, or modify the game in some way.

One more thing I was thinking of was that you could change main character for different parts of the game. E.G. Barret and Dyne. Aerith on her way to die.
That wouldn't be that hard for the Aerith one. You could do the exact same journey and Cloud but only with Aerith with text changed, then when you get to her death scene instead of you being Cloud and going to Aerith, you could have Aerith go into her pray animation, show a little bit of the movie where she prays. Go to a black screen and say X hours later, have Cloud and the gang run up to Aerith, [who you are at that point] and then show her death scene. Nya?~

Troubleshooting / Re: Battle Sounds are off
« on: 2008-08-22 13:35:59 »
It's the music patch. Theres all different things you could of done installing that.
A lot of people can't work the FF7 music patch easily so try all different things to work it. Resulting in sounds going.
Most probably you muted the midi files in FF7 somehow so that you could only hear the MP3 or PSF music files (Thats what the music patch is for)
But, the battle sounds are also midis. So they are muted

I haven't downloaded this to see, but have you changed any text or story?
Talking about this gives me an awesome idea.
Mod the game to make it viewable from a different characters point of view!
That would be cool.
