im trying to "up the graphics" of FF7, its a huge project im working on, gonna be doing everything from textures to effects. might even change the engine in the end, its early days yet.

but more importantly, i am amodeler and ive been using your tools, ive managed to get into the battle.lgp file, but now how do i know which model is which? i wanted to start on cloud or sephiroth. and using the leviathon tool to view models is ok..but it doesnt list which code the file is...

any help?

edit: also, ive noticed that the models have the worst textures ever...but i think it might be down to vertext painting. am i right?

Well i think that authors tried to avoid using textures as far as they could. Most work was done by vertex-colours.

here is list: http://mirex.mypage.sk/FILES/monsters.txt

wow thanks man, very helpful :D

is it possible to apply a texture to it though? i mean, most models i could probably make slightly higher poly and put them in-game, but i hate vertex colouring.
i dont know anything about coding so im not sure if its possible to apply textrures...

and can i post my works in progress here?

If the battle files have some sort of resource file in their structure, than yes. For the field models this is ridiculously easy, but I have no idea if it's possible with battle models--I've barely worked with them.

...which is probably why you haven't seen anyone else do this, either.

it should be possible, battle models use textures too ... but as far as i know in meantime nobody can save FF7 files to make them work in FF7...
