7th Heaven / Re: FFVII refuses to start up
« on: 2020-01-24 16:49:11 »
Your APP.log and load order both look good, though the Remako avatars might not show up because the catalog avatars are above it in the load order.  The only thing that jumps out at me is that you've got the animations, gameplay collection, and New Threat mods all with active components.  Since they each touch the exe in different ways/places, it's possible there's a conflict going on there that would explain the menu text glitching.  Or CaptRobau just didn't pay close enough attention when building that portion of his graphics overhaul (wouldn't be the first thing I didn't like about the work).

Your load order is somewhat messed up... many of the remako textures should be higher than they are.  Use the 7H tutorial as a guide, and think to yourself "When it says 'Battle Textures,' sub in 'Remako Battle Textures' instead."

Search "Code 5" ;)

Your mod load order also needs some fixing, and if you have Reunion/Beacause enabled, make sure you're pointing to ff7_bc.exe instead of ff7.exe in your workshop settings.

The solution to "Code: 5" is plastered in several places... did you use the search tool?

Code: 5 is plastered all over these forums.... search a little and you'll find the answer ;)

181
Turn off post-processing in your OpenGL config... getting shaders to work is a real PITA.  Also make sure you're using ff7_bc.exe instead of ff7.exe or _mo.exe (which contains other non-vanilla changes that folks don't expect)

182
I think if you do just a tiny bit of searching in the FF7 forums, you'll find your answer to the Code:5 error.

183
I think you misinterpreted my meaning of "draw"... not drawing in the sense of putting pixels on the screen, but rather as in "we ended in a tie."

184
Two questions:
1.  How in a nine-card playing field is a draw even possible?
2.  Will your code worth with the CD version of the TIMs (as we found a couple months ago, original CD and Steam are different in more ways than just registry keys)?

185
Do I use this with Field Textures -satsuki?
This release is essentially a new version of FT-sat.

1.  Make sure the link is correct, and in the right place
2.  Give it a couple of days... I'm seeing posts about the free hosting quota being over limit, so this could be a knock-on effect of that

187
Just be patient... there've been a LOT of new folks joining and downloading of late.  Give it a couple of days, and things'll fall back within quota limits.

Team Avalanche / Re: Project Edge (Jusete's field scenes)

Or just unpack Satsuki's Iro file and merge all with Final Fantasy VII HD Field Scenes Database pack into "D:\Games\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\mods\Textures\field" (or into whatever path you have installed the game). Btw md1_1 in not released yet i think.
Well, like I said, I've already created a "Project Edge" IRO that's completely independent of satsuki or any other pack.  The biggest trouble with your suggestion is that it locks the user in, but there are some out there who (for whatever reason) prefer Remako, and maybe some who even like some of the earlier projects.  By using load order, a preferred/fallback position is created :)

Actually, I just did it (package an IRO, that is) to see if I could get yours and Satsuki's to play nicely together, and it's a beautiful success.  Only thing missing is md1_1 (which I couldn't find a dl link for).  It's currently 794MB, but I'll leave it to you as to whether or not I upload it anywhere... it's your stuff to distribute.

I mean if you have the fields in aalis driver mod folder and you have another field model  activated in 7th heaven. I suppose it will load the 7th heaven one... :-)
As we just figured out via you and TrueOdin on the Discord, 7H always wins.  If we want to have your fields take top priority, then fall back to something else (e.g. satsuki's upscales), we'll need to package yours as an IRO and load it ahead of any others.

my 7th Heaven folder is inside of my game directory
@EQ2Alyza... think this might be part of the problem?

fd - Are you still running 7H as admin, or not since your first attempt with 1.54 (which isn't the version linked in the tutorial)?

Ok, but did you re-run the converter after reinstalling the game, and did you nuke the entire 7H folder, or just extract over-top the existing one?

For starters, did you allow the installer to drop the game in \Program Files (x86)\Final Fantasy VII, or did you change it?  If you didn't change, uninstall and reinstall, this time overriding the default directory with something like \Games\Final Fantasy VII.

Next, if you've used the registry cleaning tools or manually mucked with your registry, it's a safe bet the game won't work at all.  Re-run the converter program, and when (if?) it asks, choose "Overwrite."  Make sure you include the quotation marks when prompted for the installation and movie paths.  Once you've done that, nuke everything related to 7H and install clean using the links in the FAQ/Tutorial.

At this point, you should be good to go.  If you get errors, stop (don't fumble around) and describe (or better yet, copy/paste) what you're seeing.

Did you remember to change the .exe file in the 7H workshop from ff7.exe to ff7_bc.exe?

I have attached a screenshot of the error I receive when trying to launch the game.
This question has been asked (and answered) in numerous threads, and is specifically address in the 'big list of bugs' thread.

If no luck, then hopefully it's just accidental deletion.  Have you run a filesystem check on the drive just to be sure there isn't something more dangerous under the hood?

196
Ok, sending to DLPB separately

[edit]

This bug seems to be present in the original game - but I need a save that's been untouched by Reunion to test with.  Anyone got a save close by that's never been saved with Reunion?

Can anyone definitely confirm it doesn;t originally happen?
Where do you need? As long as it's pre-Cid leadership, I almost certainly have something nearby.

7th Heaven / Re: Can't get movies to play
« on: 2019-11-24 15:10:16 »
Legacy - You're supposed to install the game first, then run the 7H game converter.  As EQ2 said, though, this log file is incomplete.  There's also an out-of-order execution bug I found a while back where the ..\data\movies directory doesn't get created until *after* you tell it where the movies folder is, not before like the script implies.  You can get through this by installing the game, then manually creating the folder before running the converter.

199
Have you used Windows' search function to look for the others saves?  What you're describing almost sounds like accidental deletion of your game folder, or filesystem corruption.

7th Heaven / Re: "ERROR STARTING FF7"
« on: 2019-11-23 13:30:11 »
Zara9 - You have not provided even a hint of information to begin troubleshooting.

LegacyHero - You have multiple duplications...
1. Misc - TA Fields, Field Textures Omzy, Field Textures Satsuki
2. Battle textures Tsunamods, Battle Textures
3. Movies cmh, movies
4. Spell textures, Spell textures Kela51
5. World Textures Satsuki, World textures
Pick only one from each of these groups.  Additionally, the Code:5 error is well-discussed and specifically mentioned in the 'Big list of bugs' thread.
