I thought they gave up when the remake were announced? Its good if they havent. Altough it feels lile that project can take years before getting finnished. If i won the lottery i would pay them to finnish it now.
I don't think they've given up, progress is just kind of slow paced at the moment. Which I completely understand, I would be fatigued too if I was a modder and I hear that the game I've been modding for years, is finally getting an official remake.

But I think at this point most people have realized that Square Enix won't be making the exact remake we're all hoping for, so mods for the original game will remain relevant after all.

To illustrate - While in the original characters just stood around and talked to each other rather statically with the camera locked in one position, that's probably not going to be the case anymore. Scenes will be designed to be more cinematic, with angles changing, panning, etc.
and more movement from the characters etc. for dramatic effect.
In that kind of cinematography the old-school set-up and use of the score won't work very well. It will feel very unnatural.

For that reason they're probably going to have to create a lot of rearrangements of the original themes to fit with the new cinematography - meaning they'll probably redo the entire soundtrack.

Just saying.

I can see what you mean but I'm not sure if the game would profit from such drastic changes...

I'm not sure if I even want every scene involving dialog to be more cinematic, because there is so much dialog in the original game, they would have to cut out a LOT of stuff for budget reasons alone, which again would mean less interactivity in the game. Speaking of which, I don't like the cheesy soap opera-standard acting they have going on with the cutscenes in their latest games anyway...

In my opinion they need go a little more back to the basics in that regard. In the original ending there isn't any talking in the cutscenes (except the ending). They were used merely for dramatic purposes to support climaxes in the story. They provided a nice contrast to the more calm dialog heavy parts of the game.

Ok, thank you. I'am looking forward to this. Pherhaps it can look even better with reshades sharpening effect. I wonder if we one day will have filters good enough to make old pre-renders look as good as it would in 1080. Probably not... :(

That's probably impossible, since even the best filtering algorhythm will never be able to bring back detail that simply isn't there due to the low resolution the images were rendered in. There is a reason after all that the 'Team Avalanche' Project is rebuilding all those scenes in 3D to re-render them. ;)

They will most likely 'techno', 'pop' and 'rock' up the soundtrack. Victory fanfare with lead guitar and all. Actually I'd rather they keep each tune within its original genre. I don't mind improving the quality, and seeing how these things tends to be butchered I would prefer it if SE kept the soundtrack within its safezone instead of 'j-poping' it up haha.

Oh god I hope they don't add j-pop songs... Not in FF VII.

I wouldn't mind some rock themed tracks, but only where it's appropriate like in "Opressed People" (more reggae than rock, really) the Boss Theme or "Birth of a God".

There some are tracks off course that would benefit from orchestration, like "Shinra Company","Shinra Wages A Full Scale Attack", "Weapon Raid","Hurry Faster","Jenova Absolute".

The more quiet and moodier songs like "Flowers Blooming in the Church", "Desert Wasteland","You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet", "Parochial Town" should be left pretty much unchanged. Just use higher quality instruments but leave the arrangement as it is. And they need to keep that beautiful characteristic E-Piano. They need to have it in every track that had it originally... Hell, if they want a higher quality version of that piano, they can accurately recreate it on most modern software synths, which I even did myself in the free "Synth1" VSTi.

Yes, I'm extremely pedantic with this kind of stuff, this is FF VII we're talking about after all.

Looks very nice, when will you release the model?

Catalogs / Re: 7th Heaven Mod Requests - To Do List
« on: 2015-08-24 11:55:52 »
Already got it in the list, I'll update the OP. This is going to make the Field Textures download huge though (~10GB)...

You could add checkboxes for the next update, so you only download the field pack you want to install.

7th Heaven / How do I install these mods?
« on: 2015-08-24 11:32:07 »
So I've seen a post in the "Team Avalanche Project" forums that included some mods that are not included in 7th Heaven yet and I want to install those: http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=9151.msg216275#msg216275

Putting them into the "mods\7th Heaven" folder and enabling them in the 7th Heaven launcher didn't do anything. I checked ingame and I still see the regular Grunt models in battle. My Question is now, how the hell do I install those?  :o

edit: nevermind. I figured out I just need to extract some lgp's, replace the files and repack them.

Any updates on Junon? You seem to have modeled a lot of stuff already.

This is really impressive, how did you do this?

I hope they don't 'orchestrate' the whole soundtrack... The original soundtrack had  a lot of electronic touches, which I know probably have been brought by technological limitations at the time, but still I think the electronic side was such a integral part of the soundtrack, it would be sad to hear everything just 'orchestrated'.

The version with the Gimp filter looks awesome!

Ok guys! So you can finally focus on a FFVIII overhaul afterall!? :) :)

I think people should just proceed enhancing FF VII, as previously done.

Because I'm afraid FF VII Remake is not going to be the game we're hoping for. Square Enix already stated they're gonna scrap the turned based battle system... :(

I don't even want to know about the world map, because I highly doubt they're going to make the same world map, with random battles using their fancy new graphics engine. They're gonna do something different for sure, and I don't welcome that change.

I'm still pinching myself, this is too good to be true... Also Shenmue 3. wtf...

Yes It's kind of hard, especially when this project is kind of hidden in these Forums...

To raise awareness and attract more modelers to the project I think there should be a website for the Team Avalanche project. Also official Facebook and Twitter and Youtube accounts that regularly post updates would help like, a lot.

Sadly this is probably why there isn't much being released here now. Curious how critical people are who haven't released any work themselves. Finalized or not I'd be seriously surprised if this model was released here now.
Pardon me? Now it's the peoples fault, who DARE to criticize anyone, that no more new mods are being released? What kind of a messed up conclusion is that even? Are you even serious?

Now people are not even able to constructively criticize, even when it`s appropriate? Did you consider my post as particularly rude, or what? Because it didn't look like that to me. I'm not even that kind of person that criticizes in an offensive and disrespective way, but I've seen people like that here, too. I caution you to not throw me in the same bag...

You know what, to me it seems distressing forum-moderators are the thing, that scare most people away from these forums...

Are there currently any features planned, regarding Normal Mapping, Parallax Mapping, Specular Mapping or even Tesselation? It occurred to me, as I have recently seen the new D3D11 renderer for the game Gothic 2. It's made by just one guy and looks really spectacular.

I think the 3D stuff in the game would benefit from that a lot.^^

No offense, but is that the final texture for Hojo lifeform? It kinda looks amateur-ish, as if you just painted over the model with a brush.

121
For what exact reason is this mod Steam-only?

Nice textures, especially the bubbles and the lighting look very nice! The moon looks some dealiasing, smoothing and alpha cleanup out around the edges, though.

Great work man, keep it up! Your renders are very faithful to the originals, yet add more details and never fail to impress. :)

Looking at his site linked in his profile, it appears he is still actively working on it.

This is f*ing amazing. Probably the most detailed and complete Midgar recreation I've ever seen. I hope he can provide his stuff for you guys, it would be a real shame if not.

With 7th heaven 1.45 the game refuses to start (screen turns black for a fracture of a second, then goes back to desktop), it worked fine before the update... :(

edit: nvm. Reinstalling the game fixed it for some reason.
