Oh no no, I wasn't refering to the unreleased tracks of FFVI. And you are right where one of the most dissapointing cds of FF i've ever heard. The whistle is on: The great Northern Cave, while the horrendous oboe it's playing there's a whistle that even gets more in your ears. Maybe would be better exchange that kind of whistle for a soundfont of a flute or a Piccolo.

Ah ok :D
Well, i was still in my learning process  8-)

I think you can hear the difference in mastering when you hear my latest track: (i was testing out some mastering techniques and rearranged it a bit)
Battle Not Alone!:

I've finished hearing them. There are some quite good, but there are better sound fonts for the string version. Main Theme was very good the fact that you bring the importance of basson that practically wasn't heared in the originals. The oboe it's horrible and the whistle should be dissimulated. The truth it's that those tracks have made me remember when I arranged a compilation of FFVII for a Band and how disappointed i were because when you throw the music of FFVII of their original soundfonts they lack something and need a very thougthfully rearrangement to make them sound like the FF concertos.

My apologies for my bad English. Don't take too hard my criticisms and I'm looking forward to see new remasterizations from you.

Thats why its called remastered, not rearranged...:P And thats one of the reasons i canceled this project, i want to rearrange some tracks rather spending my time on re-mastering a whole OST :-P
But what whistle and what did u meant by dissimulated? you mean like blending more into the background?
Anyway, its labeled as Unreleased Tracks :P....i heard official SE unreleased tracks that sounded more horrible  :roll:

I find that Rosetta stone isn't the best I've learned some words But they start giving you images where you either aren't sure what they are talking about (or i'm just over thinking..)

One i remember specifically is I think it was (and forgive me as i can't write in nihongo or) "wakai onnanohito" Or something like that And in the image it was a women moving, So i assumed it meant walking, Though i think i looked it up and google disagreed..

Another one was a boy that seemed he was jumping. but he could have also been hopping, maybe he was leaping. So i wasn't sure what the word meant...

But maybe i'm just overthinking it.. I'm sure halkun can clear things up haha

[OFFTOPIC]
I was researching Rosetta Stone on the internet ...but indeed. I think with Level 1 (first basic course), you can understand Japanese.....like a baby/child. So when children say: women is moving, he/she means walking.

But i think when you buy (and thats my main problem  :mrgreen:) level 2 and 3, you can really start making sense to japanese people (not fully ofcourse) :P
Although i like the approach of Rosetta Stone, cause when you think about it....my native language is dutch, but you always learn japanese from translation to english (or i have to take expensive master classes)
So when you want to order something, your mind translate the dutch word, translates it to English and translate it back to Japanese :P I think that wont happen with the Rosetta aproach[/OFFTOPIC]

BTW, watch this forum frequently because im thinking of releasing my unfinished cd1 of FINAL FANTASY VI (6) OST Remastered

30
Haha best compliments ever!!!  8-)

Although im honored, i could never replace N. Uematsu, but i would love to compose and rearrange music with him...

Now...how do we solve the language barrier?  :|

How about Rosetta Stone:wink:

Good one  :wink:
I really want to learn Japanese  :-)
Although i tried many "learn japanese" (audio)books and software, somehow, i constantly forgetting words.
Rosetta Stone sounds like a wonderful idea :P

31
By the time FinalFantim dies, he'll have done his own Video game OST, and be working for Nobou...(:P Just guessing  who knows.)

Now you're being silly   :lol:

By that time he would have replaced Nobuo.... :roll:  or something?....  :wink:

Haha best compliments ever!!!  8-)

hey i got a question. will the songs be updated alot? because i downloaded all of the disks. will there be any changes?

Nope, i think its time to let the flaws go for now  :-D I already spend too much time on it  :wink:

33
Excuse me, but am I the only one or is it really missing something from 'Highwind Takes to the Skies'?  :?

No you are correct. Highwind Takes to the Skies is missing some horns and a bassoon (i guess) because (believe it or not) activates/deactivates random when exporting. Meaning when i export it, there's a chance the horns/bassoon will be in it and sometimes it wont. I was spending (not kiddin) 4 hours looking for a cause and i guess its a wrong CC Midi data, but i couldn't find it. Sorry for the minor glitch but im not going to try and fix it again :D.

finalfantim, could you link ne resources you might've read online if any pertaining to remixing/remastering?

Certainly...I found this article very useful when mastering audio:
http://www.modernbeats.com/hit-talk/mastering-audio-with-t-racks-3

It may look like a specific guide for that particular VST, but you can use that knowledge on every similar VST :)

34
I think Final Fantim can't fathom the awesomeness of what he's done!  :mrgreen:

 :lol:

Im seeing it all as a learning process to become better  :roll:

35
Don't forget your great artwork ;)

Oh, I'm nothing! :roll: Final Fantim's the bigshot! :mrgreen:  He plays it, I make it pretty, and you show the world!

Have a good day!  :-D

Heheh yea,  ive seen it live (stream) but it was amazing. I only wish they publish a dvd cause the captures that i downloaded contains corruption near the end of Chrono Cross, which is a shame since i really enjoyed that piece.
It also gave me inspiration for my next project which is always good

Don't you like rock music?  cheesy
No its ok, everyone has its taste of  music
I wouldn't call rock, punk, rap or any kind of sound that isn't beautiful for music.

punk/rap/r&b/hip-hop agreed :P

Rock however is sometimes implemented with good melodies and composition, so...thats why i like "certain" rock  :-D

My favorite music: Epic Orchestral game/film music

the ff9 battle theme is rockin epic~

where did you learn these epic remaster/arrangement techniques?
Thank you very much!!!
Where? in my working office/room  :lol: :mrgreen:

I'm meaning, did you read up on it somewhere or just experiment til satisfied?

A little bit of both i guess...
Normally i experiment, not satisfied so im searching the internet for answers....better but still not satisfied....experimenting more with the newly obtained knowledge....SATISFIED!  :mrgreen:

EDIT:

DUDE! WHEN I UPLOAD THIS @YOUTUBE- THE WORLD WILL LOVE YOU! Man, this is really the MOST EPIC Battle + You're not alone remix ever! Ok, there was never such a remix I think, but it's awesome as HEAVEN!

Hehe thanks! I appreciate the comments!

The battle theme would be better if the electric guitar was not in it. But it's good... :wink:

Dont you like rock music?  :lol:

@Covarr:
I use this settings just for YouTube HD Uploads- the filesize is really small, Quality is great and YouTube can handle it :) It's the best mix :)

@finalfantim:
Wow, sounds nice- when I said, thats my job, I didn't mean it serious ;) I'm just *show-off* good at it :P

I know Adobe Premiere- I used CS2 and I know that it needs a HIGH-END PC- my notebook can't handle it ;) And it needs 20 minutes to encode the videos for the OST- too long for 3 pic's and one audio track. I'm looking for a better one :)

*|OST- Yipppppieeeeh! 10 Tracks uploaded today!|*

Oh, the "pro's" from Adobe are saying:
"If you want to use Adobe Premiere CS4 without studdering, you need at least 12GB of ram and a Quad Core i7 Processor with 4@3,17Ghz and a good Graphic-card- like a Nvidia 280GTX or an ATI 4850HD"
My laptop can't handle it, really xD

But go on, you could do stuff like that ;)

Hehe those specs are for HD usage (like 1080p or even higher cinema settings like 2k or 3k)
Problem that i have is the result of releasing CS4 a year after CS3. this was never reasonable to begin with, not with the amount of changes they made but because of the tuxedo's....they had to release it :P

42
It's your world, dog!  8-) I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut!  :lol:
But, yes, I did hear Battle Not Alone! I didn't say it before? :? Guess not. So, I'll say it now:

Oh My God! :-o Loved it! It must be a sin to mix two of my most favorite FF songs together in the same song! I'm serious! My computer almost exploded from the shear awesomeness! Well, not really,  :roll: but yes! It was great! Loved it!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it...
I hope to make a mini album with these kind of mixed tracks someday! I know who i can ask for art  :-P

Deniz, great job! Perfect job, actually! I have a hard time getting my videos to come out in quality like that. How do you do it?

Thanks! Making Videos is my job :D
I'm using Sony Vegas 8 HD Pro- and following Render-preferences (you can use following preferences in the most cases for HD-Uploads):

* Rendering @1280x720x32
* Video Bitrate @2000kbit/s
* Audio Bitrate @192kbit/s
* Video Container: *.wmv
* Video Codec : Xvid
* Audio Codec : MP3

Thanks again :-)
- Deniz

[OFF-TOPIC MODE]
Making video is actually my 'future' job too....to be more specific, making VFX and Motion Graphics :D
But man...im having trouble with After Effects CS4 and Premiere Pro CS4. They crash radomly....render options are limited (i guess more user-friendly for non pro's) so im thinking about switching back to AE CS3 and Sony Vegas (which was a audio editing program from origin)

Im now studying RealFlow (which are used for making CGI liquids). Its not that complicated really and you can get some really nice result when used properly.

Xvid and MP3 in a wmv container? I never would have thought to try that; I typically only use .wmv with windows media codecs.

WMV9 is much better when you dont know anything about advanced XviD setup. Xvid has great quality/size ratio ONLY when configured manually...but boy...that requires alot of test work...where WMV9 has some nice presets and will do in most cases
Since im more of a post process kinda guy, i do everything uncompressed or with Quicktime PHOTO JPEG Q95

Final Fantim, you're saying that you remastered FFVII your own way, and it sounded like that? I think it sounded PERFECT!  :-D So you're telling me that you can make FF6 sound just like your FF7 Remastered soundtrack? That's perfect enough for us! You say you're a perfectionist, but FF7 Remastered was perfect! 'Nough said!  8-) Don't bother with all that other stuff if it'll take you forever! Your way is the perfect way! But I won't tell you how to live your life.  :lol: Just letting you know it's perfect.

Hehe thank you very much!, i appreciate it  :lol:

However, i think its much more fun rearranging tracks rather than only remastering them so... :-)

Did you got the change to listen to my FINAL FANTASY IX - Battle Theme rearrangement?

Why!?
It's so good!

Will the complete folder still be uploaded?

I was talking about final fantasy 6 ost remastered  :lol:
Or did you meant 6?
Anyway...please listen to my Battle Not Alone!

I think its more fun to rearrange tracks than only remaster them

Nice artwork TheFavs!

Ok, Tim, I hope this is your final release of your OST [or M(Modified)OST] because I am gonna re-upload them @YouTube.

I think I will use that cover-pic posted over me as video. I hope that's ok. I have really not much time to make slide-show videos again.
I hope that's ok :cry:

Oh, I will upload today your songs at my own High-Speed Server- I'll give you the link this evening I think (or I hope :D )

Thanks again for this awesome Master-OST :D

- Deniz

Im not touching it anymore  :lol:

So i've been messing around a bit with a winamp plugin that i found on the net called inwinampac3.dll or WinampAC3 that allows decoding of multi channel audio. I wonder if it would be possible to mix these in 5.1 finalfantim? Just a thought that piqued my interest.

Your kiddin me? I already have enough trouble mastering 2 channels :lol:

Now...for the bad news:
FINAL FANTASY VI (6) OST Remastered Project has been canceled!

I recently (after FFVII OST Remastered) studied the art of 'proper' mastering techniques. I mastered FFVII OST Remastered in my own way, but it could even sound better if i knew the proper mastering techniques back then. Unfortunatly, proper mastering takes about an additional 3 to 5 hours to complete (depending on the genre/instruments used) on top of the 4 hours correcting midi data for samples. Because im a perfectionist, i want to master my tracks proper but given by the amount of time that will take (8 hours * ~ 60 tracks = 480 UNPAID hours :lol:). So decided not to go through since i also have other stuff going on (university/work)

So....now for THE GOOD NEWS!:
When i was practicing mastering etc...i just opened a random midi file that i had stored on my computer and it was FINAL FANTASY IX - Battle Theme. I was messing around with it, and it started to sound rather nice. One problem....it was really loopy to be a full feature track. So...i searched my brain for my  basic chord knowlegde and made my own arranged version of it (so not only remastered, but also REARRANGED)

Here is the result...Battle Not Alone!:
