General Discussion / Sephiroth vs Kefka
« on: 2005-08-11 08:12:16 »
Kefka did eventually get defeated, as did Sephiroth.  I think it just took a little longer for Kefka to be defeated because no one caught on to him fast enough.  Still, despite all this I find it difficult to believe Kefka would win.  His "god" status is irrelivant, since, as I said, he was eventually defeated.

MFC42D.DLL is a *debug* DLL and the program needs to be recompiled in release mode (if the release mode works).  Debug builds are significantly bigger and require DLLs MS says you're not supposed to distribute.

Troubleshooting / TTG cards.dat File Format

Already way past that.  I have all the cards and their borders.  I just need to throw in some good images of the numbers and elemental images and I've got it.

Yeah.  I'm doing that too now...

Preliminary results of my own meddling with Eight and some graphics manipulation:

I mean the red and blue gradients indicating the player who owns said card

I've already gotten that far Alhexx, but thanks.  I can't seem to find the card borders or backgrounds though.

EDIT: oh and mirex, thanks for the 2 bits per pixel bit, but where does that start in the file, and where does it end?

Guess I'll have to do that too then.

Would anyone be so kind as to help me figure out the cards.dat file format, or let me have all the card graphics from TTG (minus the numbers on top)?

General Discussion / A new version of TTG please :'(

Is there a button that shows the donations made, or a link?  Or was that just an idea that hasn't happened yet?

I was not aware that a month was considered that old.  I see much older stuff.  Oh well.  Sorry.

General Discussion / Software patents?
« on: 2003-08-30 00:41:16 »
Well this is messed up.  Patents should not be allowed on things like that.  If algorithms can be patented then mathemataticians who come up with stuff can charge money for you to use thier algorithm to, say, write a Calculus program, or even to make a graphing calculator.  Very messed up.

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / That Old Skool sound!
« on: 2003-08-29 08:44:49 »
As far as I understand, MIDI is all interpreted by the wavetable on your sound card, unless you use a software synthesizer like Yamaha XG or the old Crescendo thing people used to promote on websites with music.  But if you want to get it to sound a certain way, it may be possible to use a software synthesizer with the proper soundfonts.  You can force Windows to use these in the Control Panel.

Not sure if that helped  :-?

The latest Mozilla rules IMO.  But I don't like IE for one simple reason: adware.  It is too succeptible to "attacks" that force you to view ads at random times, even when IE is not open.  Also, IE has toolbar addons which get automatically installed.  I now have software o prevent this, but I shouldn't HAVE TO.  So I don't like IE and use Mozilla.

I used to know how and if you refresh my memory (ie show me an example of both) I could tell you.  Gamehack I lost with a HDD crash, along with my trainer making stuff  :-? .

I swear I joined this board once before, over a year ago when I was downloading TTG, somewhere between June 10, 2002, the last update date to the main page, and October 2002, because I downloaded TTG before Qhimm had his server problem.  Do accounts get deleted if you don't post enough?  I probably barely posted anything when I joined.

General Discussion / Software patents?
« on: 2003-08-29 08:29:51 »
I could have sworn I had joined this board before... anyway...

I understand the problem, but I don't see why legislation will ever make the patents unlike those of "real world" patents to such a degree that old technology and software can't be built upon.  Am I missing something?  'm seriously curious.
