FF7 Tools / Re: WIP a patch to convert new FF7 to old
« on: 2012-08-17 00:01:34 »
So, this project excites me greatly!

You said you were attempting to maintain as much of the new game as possible with this, while bringing in many qualities from the old files. What exactly are you trying to preserve? And what objects are you altering? And how are you going about doing that?

It almost seems like I'd be able to drop the 1.02.exe into the folder and you'd have nearly the same product as from before. One would just have to shut off the updater that Square has provided in the new launcher. Correct?

Then one could go through the new .exe and find out how they used the new .oog files, and apply these changes into the old .exe somehow. Actually, before assuming that is done through the .exe file, I should ask, how does the re-release support the .oog? Where is that programmed? And what other qualities about the new release would be worth preserving?

Sorry, if this is a bombardment, my curiosity is just peaked.

Do the 24 bit textures rely on Aali's driver in anyway?

78
Does the UMI use the modpath for textures? Cause when testing it some of the battle textures only appeared as white models. If so some quality will be lost in the texture, as it'll have to be bumped down to 8-bit. However, my experience with FF7 modding is a bit dated. I never learned how to edit the game with aali's driver :P.

79
So far the only perks seem to be easier modded music, and that people can now buy it legally, with more ease that is?
The "Modernization" bothers me. Achievements, boosters... >_>.
Ah well. As long as it's modifiable, yes?

80
Anyway to turn achievement gain off? I find it a nuisance to have them pop up randomly while I am playing. >_>.
Still not sure if I want to buy this. Especially if the mods made possible by Aali's driver are rendered unusable.

81
To be fair the save folder doesn't actually show up until you make a save to begin with, even with our current version :P.
At least that is how it works for me.

82
In the screenshots section, the background of the only field based screenshot seems highly pixelated, which is depressing. Not that I had high hopes for this though to begin with.

The battle screenshots seem sharper than usual, however.

Bend his arms a little closer to 90 degrees, new run almost looks like he's skipping, the transition from the leg moving forward to back ward seems a bit sudden.

I kind of agree, more frames would be nice, but not sure if that would be possible. I do love the concept of all this though.

I have always been in Love with the concept of idle animations; I am just somewhat sad we cannot take the models out of Kimera entirely and make new animations from scratch. Animation work is a nightmare for me.

So far so good. I just wish Final Fantasy VII models weren't so stiff to work with, hey? ^_^

I might have been a bit too rough with my statement. I just meant that the linkage between the three movies felt kinda warped. I wished they linked them together better. The motivation felt shaky is all, and it left me not feeling entirely satisfied. I don't mean to offend anyone :P.

I've not had a problem getting lost. Then again I am constantly consulting a map.

http://dayzdb.com/map#5.057.069

I have a whole team with my friends and we've raided towns, and half the fun is getting killed by bandits and zombies and running. It just gets your blood pumping. Sure it is frustrating, but you know what to expect going in.

I am sorry you weren't able to find your friend. They are ironing out the Arma II bugs with this mod actually. I really want to see it go stand alone as well ^_^.

And Opine that sounds like an interesting game concept! :D.

The movie wasn't unpleasing, I just felt it could have been done better. I was disappointed by some of the things that were presented. I enjoyed the movie in the time of watching it, but after time to sit and allow it to process I realized it wasn't this psychological trip I got from the second film, not that I was expecting it to be. I just simply expected more from a Nolan film. I found the film to be a disappointing Bat Man film, but it was a decent action flick with some really nice suspense and plot twists.

And as for the pit scene; I simply wanted more from it, not another hour. Just more impact. It just didn't seem to be the same pit that Bane and Talia were in, by any means. It wasn't hell on earth. It was just bad and gritty.

Also the whole thing with his back being broken seemed kind of hard to believe.
"You have a protruding vertebrae, I'll just hang you on a rope to fix it."

And Bruce Wayne or not it jarred me just seeing him get back from the foreign country. It gave no explanation. I am only asking for some explanation.

As for the Joker note, I agree entirely I missed his face in the movie. Or at least his name being mentioned.

This may contain many spoilers and may cause much hate, but I honestly was extremely disappointed by the Dark Knight rises.

I just couldn't get attached to the motivations involved for many of the characters. The story was lopsided and made very little sense in my eyes. For example the problems that the League of Shadows had been so inclined to eradicate in the first film were dealt with, making the villains involvement in the third film seem somewhat pointless. Sure the suspense was great, but it lacked meaning for me. The acting and directing were amazing as well; but the story felt like it kinda over looked the actions that took place in the second installment of the Dark Knight films.

Bane was frightening and interesting. Cat women was great. But the twists and the big climax were muted on my end; I found myself being disappointed around every bend, because they continually stretched the thin line they were already walking on. I am not sure if I am making any sense. Let me phrase it like this:

In the first film the League of Shadows wanted to destroy Gotham for it was corrupt and a mess politically and was leeching off the bigger system or something of that sort. In the second film with Harvey Dent's death and Batman taking the fall for it so the Dent act would get passed, Gotham's streets were cleaned up, people fell in behind this face that represented what was good for them; in effect getting rid of the problem the League of Shadows had with Gotham in the first place.

Another problem I had with the film were the inconsistencies.  Gotham was on lock down. How did Bruce Wayne make his return? I felt like there were a major few scenes missing. And how did he conveniently find Cat women so easily? Also his scene in the pit was somewhat rushed. I wanted to see him go through hell. I wanted to see him work up to climbing out of hell; to actually rise above the  fire they spoke of so fiercely through the whole film. His experience seemed far too simple and plainly easy.

I have a few other things I disliked about the film, but I can't think of them at the moment given it is four in the morning for me ^_^.

As a film critic my friends hated me when I voiced all this coming out of the movie theater :P
I wonder how you folks will view it. At the moment I feel as if I am the only one who expected more, and disliked it even remotely. :/.

I am playing this really sharp zombie survival game. You start with no weapons, no food or water in the middle of a post apocalyptic world. Your one goal is to live. You have loot towns for food and drinks, and eventually you'll be able to live off the land and such. It's much easier in groups because if you encounter bandits your're generally dead, because they shoot first. Where as survivors are not murders. (Depending if you are roleplaying or not.)

It is a mod for Arma II, and it is far better than the base game ;P.
I am rather addicted to it myself. Anyone else playing? :).

Squall's voice actor is a good voice for the role, he is just a bit too stiff in the execution.

Releases / Re: [Project] Mike's custom models
« on: 2012-05-03 04:15:39 »
As someone above me stated certain aspects of the model look really iffy. The hair could probably be smoothed out some. If you are aiming for the high resolution feel, you could add in a few more polygons for the bangs. The lips are a little too full and need to be slightly wider. The nose is pretty spot on, good job there. I always thought Aeris' eyes were slightly more darker blue. The ears ought to be more rounded, they are rather pointy. The cheeks are too inward, her face is a bit more round, and child like.

I don't know if my critiques will help any. It is your model, and is coming together really nicely. I hope my words help more than harm. :).

94
The whole model is well done. I wonder what the model would look like in game as it is now. God, I feel out of the loop. Haha. I haven't been around for almost a year now it feels like.

« on: 2012-05-01 03:00:15 »
I don't think Skyrim and Final Fantasy mix very well. All the character models clash with the scenery. That airship looks pretty cool though.

96
Personally, I think the models that have been "textured" with materials look like they'd fit right into the original Final Fantasy VII. More so than the high resolution textures do as of now. I wonder how the game will look once it's all been redone. Perhaps it'll all fit together better ^__^.

I like the Tifa model, I am jealous of whomever made the boots, I can't quite get that level of detail when I make models. </3.

Troubleshooting / Re: FF8PC not playing eyes on me.

I've had a bug with this one that was interesting. Whenever I get to the scene where it was supposed to play the CD in my alternative drive began to play (remember back in the days of CD burners XD). It was my sister's Kelly Clarkson CD, as it was my first time getting to this scene, I was confused. :3.

Well that doesn't replace the one's I made. :P. Or the one's I downloaded over two years, and ones that aren't for public download.

-Sips his tea, whilst leaning back in his chair surveying the scene, as this is now an unrelated chat post, he can do anything.  -

Regardless, I am enjoying talking to old faces, and some new. It feels somewhat refreshing to be back at my old forum hangout. I remember when I used to lurk here all the time.  -sighs at the memories.-
