@Blah: This is the newest way to solve your problem successfully :

FIX :  Everything is made of light  (FF7 + FF8)

ff7_opengl.cfg :  use_shaders = yes

Download these files and copy them to .\shaders\nolightmain.frag   main.vert
(overwrite? => YES)

@Klaw117: For testing purposes i always use a virtual machine (VMware) when i am
                   installing FF7 via Bootleg or when i am testing new mods (FF7Music, ...).

                   But i play FF7 only on my real system to avoid performance issues and
                   problems with the emulated graphics card (Aali's driver, ...).

Hi JLOUTLAW,

  • Have you tried to run FF7Music.exe as Administrator ?
    ( Hint: right-click FF7Music.exe )

  • Which version of FF7Music are you using ? ( 1.51.12 / .13 )

  • Which Windows version (+Service Pack) have you installed ? ( XP, Vista, 7, 8 )

  • Have you installed Aali's driver ? ( 0.7.11b ! )

  • Which mods have you installed and in which order ?
    Or have you used the Bootleg installer ? ( 0037 )

  • Please be so kind and modify your first post using the # button.
    Modify (top right corner) => # => [ code ] FF7Music.log [ /code ]

  • Run FF7Config.exe

  • Graphics: Renderer = Custom driver

  • Sound: select Sound Driver
                => Test Center/Left/Right

  • MIDI:MIDI Driver=Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth
            MIDI Data  =General MIDI

            => Test
                 => Min./Max. Volume Test
                      => Logarithmic Volume Control on/off

  • Result

Open ff7_opengl.cfg with any text editor (Notepad, ...)
and remove the # from this line :

#music_plugin = plugins/ff7music.fgp

Execute .\FF7Music\FF7Music.exe and compare your setup with my screenshots:

@Jimmyto: When you start the installation of FF7Music 1.51.13 and the
                  download of OSTRe.7z begins, you should see where the file is
                  placed. (Everything updates automatically)

@Covarr: Please understand me right, i made a mistake !
                The result of my first test (%TEMP%) is false.
                Your installer uses the %TMP% variable.

The problem is, that the download of OSTRe.7z is placed in the temporary
(%Temp%) folder and not in the folder where the installer is located.

Tested with this configuration:
  • Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, German
    + Service Pack 1

  • UAC: off

  • DEP: standard

  • Administrator: yes

  • Firewall: no

  • Antivirus program: no

  • Virtual system: yes (VMware)

  • User and system variable of temporary folder changed
    %TMP% + %TEMP% = C:\Temp

Test 02

User variable of temporary folder changed
  • %TMP%   = C:\Tmp
  • %TEMP% = C:\Temp

Where can OSTRe.7z be found ?
  • download  = %TMP%
  • installation = %TMP%

Hi Covarr,

sorry for double PM+Posting. I do this normally to be sure that the corresponding
user reads my analysis. Very often only the PM is read and not the posting.

What worries me is, it took all that time to download and the ost was nowhere to be found

The problem is, that the download of OSTRe.7z is placed in the temporary
(%Temp%) folder and not in the folder where the installer is located.

Hi Covarr,

i have compared your new installer (1.51.13) with the old version (1.51.12)
and found some issues.

  • It is not possible to install the new version without an Internet connection.

  • These temporary (%Temp%) files were not deleted after the installation:
    • 7za.exe
    • ff7musiccurrentversion.txt
    • OSTRe.7z   <= !

  • FF7 \FF7Music\Ficedula\FF7MUSIC.ini  +
                   FF7 \Ficedula\FF7MUSIC.ini

    is             : Profile=Remastered
    should be: Profile=OSTRemastered

    This should be altered to avoid NO sound errors:

    is             : InputPlugin=in_vgmstream.dll
    should be: InputPlugin= FF7 \FF7Music\in_vgmstream.dll

    is             : OutputPlugin=out_wave.dll
    should be: OutputPlugin= FF7 \FF7Music\out_wave.dll

115
@KG: Please alter these parameters :
  • mod_path = data/   <= remove /

    mod_path = data  <== look at the .\mods folder
                                                     e.g. .\mods\data

  • break_9999limit = no   <= needed if you have installed this mod:
                                               Menu Overhaul Project

  • use_pbo = yes   <= Speed up texture loading (NVIDIA)

FIX :  Everything is made of light  (FF7 + FF8)

ff7_opengl.cfg :  use_shaders = yes

Download these files and copy them to .\shaders\nolightmain.frag   main.vert
(overwrite? => YES)

No, I did it following the tutorial.

Well done. I don't have this weird problem and i never seen it before.

Can I install the unified model installer on top, or do I need to start over?

You can install UMI after the Bootleg installation.
But before you do this you should read my PM i have send to you.

Analysis (part 1)
  • You don't have installed the Service Pack 1: Build 7600

    Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)
    windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe  >Download<

    Start Windows Update after the
    installation of Service Pack 1.

  • You have changed your DPI setting:  120 DPI (125 percent)
    Change it to normal                        :     96 DPI (100  percent)

    Hint: hit the Windows-Key and write DPI

  • Drive:  K:     File System:  FAT32

    Remember:  FAT32 = max. file size 4 GB

@vashtriguner: I have tried to reproduce your error, but with no luck.
                         If you want, i can connect to your computer via >TeamViewer<.
                         Sorry, but i don't know at the moment what causes this problem.

@Vex: Please download/install and start this software:  Everything search engine
           Now search for save*.ff7 :

Edit 1

@vashtriguner: Is your Windows up-to-date ?  (Service Pack 1 + all updates)

118
@Future^Bacon: This problem is new for me.
                            Did you install FF7 Unified Model Installer ?

I suggest people wait until U002 before using this since there are some bugs to iron and I am changing installer slightly so the Menu Overhaul is fully compatible with the installer.

Releases / Re: FF7 Enhanced Movies
« on: 2012-03-07 22:50:04 »
New download links

Bootleg version

MediaFire folder:  Enhanced Movies (Trojak)

  • You must decompress the two archives by selecting these files:
    • ff7_enhanced_movies_1.part1.rar
    • ff7_enhanced_movies_2.part1.rar

  • Move these extracted files (NO folders) into your Mod Source folder:
    • ff7_enhanced_movies_1.zip
    • ff7_enhanced_movies_2.zip

Alternative (manual)

MediaFire folder:  Enhanced Movies (Trojak)  manual version
! Bootleg0037 does not recognize these files.
  • You must decompress the two archives by selecting these files:
    • ff7_enhanced_movies_1.part1.rar
    • ff7_enhanced_movies_2.part1.rar

  • After the Bootleg installation, move all files (NO folders) into
    this FF7 folder:  .\movies   (overwrite? => YES)

120
You have to change this D:\Games\Final Fantasy 7
accordingly to your FF7 folder.

Don't change the /D parameter !  ( D = Directory )

Code: [Select]
start /min               /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\FF7Music" FF7Music.exe

start /wait /affinity F  /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII"          ff7.exe

taskkill /im FF7Music.exe

Only execute this file, don't click any other FF7 start icon you normally use.
(FF7.exe , FF7Music.exe , ...)

If you want that the window is every time at the same place, you should
try this little free software AutoSizer.

Quote
AutoSizer automatically resizes programs for you, keeping them at a specific size or keeping them maximized. One popular use is to keep Internet Explorer maximized when you go on the web. It works with most software programs, and supports maximizing to specific monitors on multi-monitor computers. Use the handy Always On Top system tray menu to quickly position specific programs above all others.

121
@Vegadawg2:
  • Open any text editor (Notepad, ...) and put these commands into it
Code: [Select]
start /min               /D "D:\Games\Final Fantasy 7\FF7Music" FF7Music.exe

start /wait /affinity F  /D "D:\Games\Final Fantasy 7"          ff7.exe

taskkill /im FF7Music.exe

  • Then save the file using the .bat extension (e.g. FF7-Start.bat)

  • Now execute this file   ;)

122
@Vgr: It is only a question which was first in my mind when i looked at his screenshot.

           NTFS supports compression which can be selected for files/folders or for the
           whole partition. The Windows Explorer has an option (Folder Options) to
           color files which were compressed or encrypted  =>  blue colored files.

           If i had an English windows i had done some screenshots to explain it.

           Look at the properties of you folder => extended => compression

123

124
@vashtriguner: Your files are blue colored, are you using NTFS compression ?

125
@Vex: Look at these folders:

Windows 32bit :
   C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\

Windows 64bit :
   C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\

I'll start off by saying that, I could be 100% wrong on this, but I'll give some input on what I've found out about the UAC and at least Vista.  From other modding communities.   For those that don't wish to turn off their UAC that is.

Inside  C:Users\(name here)\AppData\Local.  Theres a folder called VirtualStore. Inside it is another folder named Program Files (x86)
...

Or just right click on the .exe file and select 'Run as administrator' from the context menu.
Alternately, right click, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab and check 'Run this program as administrator' and OK.  Then it'll always start with the required privileges.
Then you'll never need to worry about virtual store.

Or just install to a non system folder like 'C:\games\Final Fantasy VII.'

I don't think you can disable the virtual store on Win 7 without some major disadvantages.
But use either of the above methods and it's no problem.
