General Discussion / Re: FF Pixel Remaster
« on: 2021-07-30 04:16:24 »
Well, it took less than 10 minutes for someone to fix the font.

https://www.rpgsite.net/feature/11522-how-to-fix-that-awful-font-in-the-final-fantasy-pixel-remaster-games-on-pc

So the games are out. Turns out I was right. The sprites are certainly better than the FFV/FFVI sprites we got a few years ago at least stylistically. The psp sprites which are a decade or more old are still better. The music is awesome, the font looks horrible, but like Aavock said you can switch it to the files the Japanese have, they aren't as incompetent as western devs. It's a decent remaster so far but if you have the psp versions I don't see the point, except for 3. The psp versions were designed to run at 480p I believe and even with crap TV upscaling they still look better than this remaster's. Don't get me wrong this remasters sprites aren't bad, they are decent, it's just the PSP ones were better. Especially FFIV on PSP was AMAZING graphically/sprite wise. I guess we'll see when the pixel remaster IV releases but I doubt it will be topped with this style, and VI will probably be better than the style we have now at least.

I remember being told a good amount of money was invested into the FFIV psp remaster and square did not make as much money off the game as they thought they would, sad to see all their remasters since have not been up to that quality.

New lighting feature incoming!

I implemented support for PBR textures such as normal map, roughness map, metalness map and AO map!
There is still no environment map but that is next in my list.

Beautiful work Cosmos. Have you seen this topic?

I don't understand why they didn't just do all off ff1-6 in the PSP style of 1,2,4 it was BEAUTIFUL. My ff4 on psp is 12 years old and looks better than this and is arguably just as faithful to the original design. Seems lazy, so are they just adjusting the pixels for hd on the main characters or all characters/enemies/backgrounds in world/battle? I bet it's just the main characters. FF4 psp they upgraded EVERYTHING and added new content and rebalanced difficulty, and added CGI Cutscenes, though the new content wasn't great at least it was something and the other stuff was great.

This is so good, I wish they hired you for the remake!

That is not currently the plan due to the many different FMV mods being offered as it would make the mod HUGE. In the future, I will be doing my best to work with Darziak, Fated Courage, and Klitlika to create the best FMV pack possible that I will THEN include in an addendum/update/separate installer to the main LP pack.

Hey McIndus, have you ever heard of video enhance AI? It's video upscaling software that can add details, made by the same company that made gigapixel. I don't know much about modding but I bought video enhance AI to upscale old anime/shows/etc (you can also download a free 30 day trial, I don't think it adds a watermark or at least it didn't use to?) so if you are able to provide me with the ff8 video files I could upscale them with that program and then you guys could manually adjust from there if possible/needed, I think it's the best video upscaling software on the internet right now. Unfortunately I only have a laptop with a 1660ti so it takes me about 20 hours to upscale a 720p video 40 minute video to 4k.

Thanks for the report daedrixx2, you can download the quick fix here.

Here's the preview:

Beautiful! Can't wait for the english version, thank you Aavock!

33
Sadly FFNx is not compatible with the remaster, so no :(
No problem thanks man.

34
Hey myst does this work for ff8 remastered version?

35
Mainly maintenance, i included all that i wanted originaly (maybe i'll add Aavock works if once translated + nino work once complete, but nothing soon)
Yes i should do an unsinstaller ^^

Strongly support this, Aavock and Ninostyle chibi field/world  and normal battle models are very good and in vanilla style

36
The version of 7th heaven im using is 7th heaven 2.3.0.34

37
Hey Satsuki it wouldn't let me import the IRO file for 6.30 30 fps movies in English to 7th heaven, I fixed this by renaming the file to "FMV". I'm guessing 7th heaven has a file name limit size or something. Just wanted to let you know.

38
MCINDUS this is beautiful. Can't wait to try it out, thank you and fatedcourage and anyone else who helped with this project.

39
Thanks Satsuki, looking forward to it.

Hey no problem, just so you know there is a thirty day free trial, no credit card info needed, just an e-mail address.

$199.99 Is a lot of money for a possible improvement, I like VIII but not enough to spend that kind of money.

Hey Darziak have you tried utilizing Video Enhance AI by the people who made gigapixel? I think the results might be even better than this.

Yes, Tsnumaods music.

Yes, it's different than Anxious Heart.

No, it's different from Anxious Heart, and one of the first music mods featured here. I don't know which has better bitrate, but my guess would be Anxious Heart.

Yes, they'll be added to the Qhimm Catalog for the Field Models 3.1 update. It's expected on the date it's released  :P

Thanks for all your hard work and your team, the nino chibi models look so good.

That Double Crossing line is because Barret maybe thinks Cloud might have just betrayed him by not setting the bomb and could be getting ambushed.

Yeah I figured, I don't know it just felt slightly awkward/irrational, but then again Barret is supposed to be irrational/emotional. He's been with Cloud this whole time he knows he hasn't double crossed him unless it happened before the train.

The dialogue banter is mostly really good as obesebear pointed out. I did notice two awkward/possibly weirdly translated lines? Right before the Guard Scorpion comes out Barret says something like "you double-crossing", is he referring to Cloud? Just sounded weird a bit. Oh and then the Honeybee Inn trailer where the new Muki guy goes on a P.C explanation of gender essentially "gender is a social construct" that I watched the original translated trailer for, they definitely took some Sony America P.C interpretation of those lines but the occasional psychotic ideations of a SJW don't bother me as long as it's a line here or there and not them wrecking the whole game. Honestly whenever censorship or alteration of the original work occurs the best thing to do is to report it to the Japan studio, often times they will be told "this will help the game sell in America" or they aren't even notified, if they get a large influx of upset customers mailing them unlike in the west Japan still responds to consumer demand. It's the reason why Tifa still has big boobs despite Sony America's "ethics" AKA SJW psycho department wanting to censor them even further.

One of the lines that really exemplified how good the writing was for me, and also pointed out by Maximilian Dood was when Barret asks Cloud his age and Cloud responds with his rank and Barret sort of responds WTF you weirdo I was asking your age but you are basically a 1 year old. Or when Jessie witnesses Cloud jump through the debris and he gives her that little awkward smile when she calls him cool. They perfectly captured the Cloud that is up his own ass and wanting to seem cool, the awkward and absent minded cloud the one who mentioned to us in the lifestream how he just wanted to impress everyone, to be cool like Sephiroth. Or how about when Barret asks him about Mako storage and the layout of the reactor and cloud's mind tenses up and he rationalizes it to himself that it's a different reactor and different layout and that's why he's never seen it before.

I'm pretty sure DLPB hasn't been following this game much at all and has been deadset on hating it from the beginning, likely because he sees it as some sort of invalidation or alteration of much of his own work.

7th Heaven / Re: DS4 Controller D-Pad
« on: 2020-03-07 10:17:00 »
Nothing in particular, it worked fine, but I just

I'm sorry, I read it, but I considered the issue a little different (as my controller always worked). I read the manual and your post (the one recommending installing DS4Windows), but even then, it's strange that without the mods the controller D-Pad without DS4Windows works fine, and when using the mod it doesn't, like something is being overridden. I thought it interesting as it might solve the DS4 issues with D-Pad without having to install a third-party program.

In any case, I'm sorry for the thread.

Are you running it through usb or bluetooth? Also the issue is different, and it's unclear whether we should have made a new thread or kept it in that thread so the mods can decide what they want us to do. Our question is obviously different from the one he answered and is legitimate and I'm almost positive we can run the ds4 through steam's drivers even though 7th heaven has nothing to do with steam. Simply because I had this issue with the old 7th heaven, but forgot how I fixed it. I think we may just have to re-mount the blank ISO and add the executable 7th heaven has in its backup folder to steam as an alternate game. I'm pretty sure that's what I did to fix the issue many months ago with the old 7th heaven. I'll try that when I have time or if you have time try that and let me know if it works, you should be able to re-map the d-pad through steam as well. I'm not really tech-savy so I could be completely wrong but it's worth a try.

Has anyone got their Ps4 controller to work through steam's mapper/drivers with 7th heaven 2.0? A guy in another thread mentioned his is working just not the dpad, but nothing is working for me, don't care about the dpad.

How did you get the analog stick or anything to work? Nothing on my ds4 is working anymore on 7th heaven 2.0. I think before I had to my 7th heaven modded exe through steam but now that doesnt work for the controller either.
