Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith in Wallmarket outfits.

Literally fell out of my chair laughing at this one. I've seen the good, bad, and ugly of FF7 cosplay. This is one of my new favorites along with Zombie Aerith and Jenova (yes I know I have odd taste). Just wondering which cosplay images other qhimm members have favorited?

Well, the audio still does. Everything else is fine now, though. :)
What do you mean audio!? Oh wait, you mean it doesn't have voice acting. Besides for that I see nothing wrong with the audio.

omgg now we find this!?? Why don't all of us chip in  ;D
Hope we can get this somehow that would be awesome!

As I said, if two other people either chip in $500 with me, or more people chip in, I would buy it and rip it. But I don't think that'll happen with it being audit season and all.

I still think it is quite funny that even after years of hundreds of fans research, we still managed to discover something new.

Nowhere in the original listing does it say that it contains *all* the FMVs.. the table of contents lists 18 clips when in fact there are more than 100 total.
Yeah, 14 minutes of clips just doesn't sound right. Damn! I mean, having those 18 clips would be awsome. But not for $1500. So that is off my list to buy.

Holy crud I am tempted beyond belief. Even if I did get it though for that much I'd turn into a Gullum (however spelled, LOTR). And even then what would I get, since all I'd want to do is spread the resource to anyone that wants to high definition the game.......Between this Cd, saving, and a new gaming computer is where my xmas money is in a struggle. I'd happily buy it if other members would paypal donate some of the money back over time. I could by it in the next couple of days if anyone is interested in splitting the cost at least in thirds (so about $500 apiece)

EDIT: Dearlord, if I had the money I'd be buying up half of that things you cant ever have list. Especially imagine if I got hold of that playstation development kit for 65,0000$. Worth a few cars, but I would buy it. Also the light up nintendo sign and Final Fantasy Orb. 188 Sealed PS1 Games (only retro system I have and on it's last leg of having the power cable being held at a certain angle to make it play) DEAR LORD THE CHRONO CROSS DESK CLOCK!!! I WANT!!! YESS!! I'm ordering it! $25
Also Nintendo German Beer mug! Haha!
90's LARA CROFT MANNEQUIN
Life sized LINK!!!

...I need a winning lottery ticket and a bigger geek pad.

...Now kicking myself in the balls for cutting a promotional game box for Starcraft II into poster size...could've sold that in 10 years... maybe.

One thing I do know about coordinating outfits, hair color, etc from anime, game, cosplay, etc. Is that having two base colors versus more is always better. Simpler on how the eyes scan over an outfit or image. Try making the pants same color as her hair. Sorta makes for a dark earthy color scheme versus being brown, dark brown/black, and dark pink. For example when you look at her normal avatar, her main colors are pink ( ribbon and dress) and red jacket. As said before, you do what you want, I am just passing along what I have observed.

And yes I notice you matched the ribbon to her pants. It is harder to see if someone just does a quick scan so the three colors clash. Perhaps do her ribbon as the dark brown or black.

Also curious about her key necklace.

Only cinematic games I tend to like are the old final fantasies we like(7,8,9,10) and metal gear games.

Yeah at this point I agree. Rose colored glasses seem to be the the in style for us oldie retros.

It is a wonder that now a lot more smaller and more independent game companies catch my eye then big companies. Heck only big companies I watch anymore are Bethesda and blizzard. I think at this point the unreal engine owns independent games pretty well. I think that the game industry may be moving into an era where simple works best. I mean, look at the success of alot of iPhone and iPad games. Dark meadows, infinity blade, angry birds, and other quick scoring games are the success. Nowadays, enjoying a good rpg is like reading a book. With work, family, and other daily life, it is hard to get the time to enjoy such things.

Rather, the few of us that have the time to enjoy it, it is hard to find new stuff to suit our tastes. So now a lot of us have turned to modding, programming, graphics, and use of free game engines to try and create games that are good works in our eyes. Just like when only elite few were artists and writers, slowly being the elite few of game development is coming to an end where even kids are putting out award winning works, or people use wysiwyg game builders and make a quick buck.

I don't know if that is a bad or good thing. I mean think about how much any community opened up with the Internet. The art community with deviant art. Flash developers with new grounds. List goes on. And because of that people get to share, experience, and enjoy new ideas. Often for free now. So why not games.

Also to let everyone know I am highly thankful to kuroda. While there is a part of me that wants to do this project on my own on personal pride, I had to reconsider. If this mod was for me or for the community. All in all I think it is best to consider it for the ffvii modding community since that was my intent originally. And the less I have to do of the modeling, the quicker I can do other aspects like the movies. Kuroda will also be helping me with the story which is likely to change as we get more models and details changed into the mod.

For now though kuroda is getting mainstay of models and menu stuff. I am handling the movies and writing a rough draft of the story. Then me and kuroda will put our heads together to flush out the details.

Inquiry meat bags.
Should I leave clouds classic outfit on or go full soldier uniform for zack?

( inquiry meat bags is a joke from star wars knights of old republic game. Take it as the joke it is)

In other news, this project is has cost me five bucks in headache medicine. Also thinking about uninstalling ubuntu from my laptop, putting windows seven back on, and modding while I am at work. That way I am granted an extra seven hours daily to the mod. Or just modding while I am at work so I can put all my time at home into learning programming. More effective use of my time so to say... At two hundred gigs though, may haps I could split my laptop between windows seven and ubuntu. Anyone with better knowledge of the ubuntu and windows setup not recommend this?

I hope you fix the problem soon!
Just a heads up for when you do complete the model, make sure that in Kimera you configure the correct alpha settings for the head.
I'm stunned at how often models are released with the incorrect alpha blending settings.
You'll notice that some models have dim pink eyes.
Changing the alpha to normal fixes that problem.
Somebody hates me T_T
I havent had alpha setting problems. But as soon as I have fixed the battle model head, field head does the white out thing T_T.
20 minutes till I get ready for work so I'm going to take a break for tonight.
These models and the movies are the biggest pain in my butt for the project. And I was considering other models lol. Yeah, now I'm not so tempted. Not to mention I'll still have to do alternative field models (wheelchair, fix the flashback models, etc.) and downgrade the high rez final battle model to regular.

39
alas didn't work so like the field model, going to grab my backup, reset to default cloud and start the process over again, baring img<=>tex in mind. I was using the older version that didn't come with that option.

40
Not to be annoying, but to those of us who don't have the game for PC, could we get an actual screenshot?

Sure, no problem

Still having issues with the battle model. Just doesn't seem to want to do the eyebrow textures right. Even tried a few cheats and tricks in so far as to get even a blank face. Bah.

Minor victory though. Used flash and converted my youtube video to run 15fps and only go for 1min59 seconds for opening movie. And it worked. A simple test though. Some bugs to work out of it yet and I need to fix the vid to match up with the train parking and such. But holy cow I can add new movies in. How about that! fun fun! alas I am a couple hours without sleep so I bid you all adiue until after christmas. If I can figure out the battle model over the weekend you all may wake up with a christmas morning package of fun demo download.

Instead of trying to devise a new story with Zack as the hero; couldn't you just have them swap places:  Cloud is the SOLDIER 1st Class that accompanied Sephiroth to Nibel, and Zack is the weakling that assumed Cloud's identity?  Place all the models in the correct places, switch every reference to 'Zack' with 'Cloud and vice versa?  Or you could just pretend that when Zack and Cloud escaped from Nibelheim, Zack survived and Cloud got shot to death by the MPs.  So instead of Cloud wanting to help a childhood friend, Zack could join AVALANCHE to get revenge on Shinra.
Part A will be putting all the models in. However I do want the story to make sense. There are other Zack mods, if I remember correctly, that do pretty much what you are asking. I'm just wanting to go a pace beyond that. I want to stick as close as possible to the FF7 background. But as I said, this will be a big project and will require alot of changes. Which is why, as I said, I planned to release sections at a time. Pretty much it is going to go
- zack models+first reactor demo released.
-movies/fmv updates released
-script plus any other models released (if party members need to be changed)

Thanks! Those will help alot!
Gah, seeing how much I can butcher the english language at 3 to 4am. Spelt to as two. lol

** Updated file:http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0f7f1f/n/Zack_package.7z
***New file contains working field model (basic one, wont work for kid flashbacks and such.) and battle model: need help fixing white texture background trouble described below (near bottom).

Alright so I've been going back over how to use the communities tools. Reading the tutorials I can find. Etc. Trying to figure out how much I can do for my Zack project I have been promising for.... 5+years aroundabout XP

Basically this mod is to replace cloud in game with Zack. Still figuring out the story on that but I do have my ideas.

Anyways started from scratch tonight and decided to get the base field model out of the way. So I go play with highwind and kimera.
Now in Kimera, I took zack's head .P file and substituted it in place of cloud's head. Then used image2tex to fix the eyebrows. And managed to decently get it.

Other things I'm up to on the project
Just got grimmy's help in figuring out how to change the FMVs. Going to see if I can edit all 14 (0_0) movies cloud appears in. Yes I did count c_scene3.avi in that (just clouds arm. Handing black materia over to sephiroth). And the Jairo (tiny bronco) movies. Anyways I'm going to test the process with my teaser trailer from youtube and see if it works in game.

going to try to script it so it makes sense. The only other character changer I've played was the old sephiroth mod. While it was cool to play sephiroth, story wise it didn't make sense. This I will try to make the mod match up with the story so while it is a new experience, it will be close to what it would have been if the zack mod was part of the original game in terms of the world role rules and such. For example. If you remember that hojo said cloud was a failed sephiroth clone. Well what if hojo was trying to make a clone of sephiroth like the clones of genesis in crisis core. However samples got mixed up and he became zack instead. Hence why he is a failed sephiroth clone.

Along with the script I might have to change out some of the main party if I get to it.

As for starting off small, my first planned demo of the project will be the first reactor. Pretty much after the explosion, all you'll have is a field model and battle model zack until I get the project updated. Certain scenes will be messed up (flashbacks and scenes using other models of cloud, ex. him using sword at ancient city).

For the project I'll mainly concentrate on
-models
-movies
-script

After I finish the initial demo, I'll most likely take comments and suggestions on how I should update the project.

Anyways if members can help answer any questions that pop up, I'd be grateful. Current questions are
-Current opinions on how I should update the project? Get such and such out of the way first, update it by game area, etc.?

And yes, progress on this will be slow but there will be actual releases. Not like my past promises. Mainly I'll be working on it during breaks (learning my programming at home and then going to work. Breaks consist of hours between teaching myself programming and an hour or two after work).

Edit:
-Just finished doing the battle model. Zacks field head on battle model. Yes I fixed the colors. However texture spots still white, even after I tried to fix it through the ol pcreator method. Eyes and mouth still show over white spots though just like in kimera pic below.
- about to dive into changing menu portraits and default names. Don't know how so will be researching. If anyone wants to point out the process, thank you for any help.
-last upload of the night unless I find a way to fix the battle model.

Right now going through the long list of hrc files and writing out a list of who they belong to. So of course I notice (at least) 2 so far of the ancient spirit models from ancient temple. Now whenever I saw them in game, they always looked like small elephants(basically face with trunk coming out) with purple robes and hats. Now that I'm looking at the models up close in infalna+kimara, I'm going "holy nova those trunks are actually beards! and their faces and clothes make them look like black mages)

So what do people think. Were the ancients black mages? Favorite facepalm moments of realization while playing or modding?

If you want to check the models for yourself open them in ifalna or kimera.

My mind just popped through two or three subjects with pop connections with the last post. Let me see if I can retrack myself
-for one, it is a really sad day when bethesda and epic games (any company using unreal engine to make rpg style games) are making better rpg's then the final fantasy series.
-But I think that perhaps Square sailed that boat (being looked at as the top rpg maker) for so long they forgot what it was like to make that first final fantasy. The first one was intended to be the company's last game before they closed up. So they created the best game they possibly could pouring all of their remaining resource into it. Hence they got a good hit and their company got it's legs back. And they did similar with final fantasies up through 9. But 10 and after, they've taken on the policy of not throwing most of their eggs in one basket, so the quality in final fantasy has been lacking since then. I think if they again viewed their final fantasy games as if it were the last games their company would make and that they had to leave their best legacy behind them, the quality would go back up.

and this is where my mind started jumping to other conclusions
-with that maybe I should reconfigure my order of best fantasies in current standards.
-Well so far thats bethesda's oblivion and fallout games(my opinion, probably should get a gamefly account and rent some games. What makes them cool is fans get to delve into the process and use the construction editor tool to make mods to the games.
-Hey what if it were possible to make a game out of just releasing a construction editor.
-Is it possible to create a company within a cloud, p2p, basically online.
-Make a stream like service to download the main of the game and all of it's mods. Search through mods and all that. Have mods be turned on and off/installed through a checklist. Have the program have a backup of the original files that cannot be messed with. etc. etc.

to me, it would be interesting if it were possible to rally game players and people more experienced in modding/game development, into basically creating the whole of a game.(( and of course for a company to make a profit off it    ))
Mainly I got this whole idea out of the question "why doesn't square make a development kit and ship it out to fans." and of course there is the thought of directing the people who pick up the kit, to develop the game in a certain way. So yeah, my mind tends to jump around alot during my first cup of coffee.

Funny you should mention this - I was doing some work on Rebirth only today. More or less started again with the enemies, as the creatures in the demo were just too buggy to play with. I'm intending to release a stripped down version with just the enemy classes and new skills / materia / equipment, but without the AI changes.

Watch this space.
It is definantly one of the more tempting rebalances I'll admit that. :)

Gjoerulv's Hardcore mod looked extremely annoying from the youtube videos. Took the pattern and flipped it to heal heal attack. Like it is just a struggle to keep cloud and team alive against a basic wolf. Not sure if I want to go through the game like that. Probably though I should just make a backup of my ff7 folder and try out the mod anyways.
