[FF7 PC] Warping into the Debug Room
« on: 2014-08-28 15:00:52 »
Someone finally found a glitch that allows one to legitimately access FF7's Debug Rooms.
I thought some people here might be interested to hear that.
Here's a video of how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzbuABYClaE

I don't know if this is any more "legit" than save game editing, but it can be done without external tools and that's really cool.

That is the most convoluted thing I've ever seen.  It's kinda cool, but I think I'll stick with using Black Chocobo or other method.  :P

I wonder if this battle thing can be used to speedrun all the way to the end. The problem is the GameMoment variable and changing discs. Getting to Disc 3 requires Disc 2 or something bad will happen when the FMV of the Highwind separating should play. After skipping to Disc 2 you could jump to field 77 and skip right to disc 3 and then jump to the JENOVA battle (I think skipping to the Bizzaro Sephiroth battle would require a formation that isn't used).

The Yuffie Warp run already cuts things pretty short, but I have an inkling that this could bring it even shorter with the right planning. I'm looking forward to seeing how this glitch is used in the Speedrunning community. Super, super excited.

just find battle id 768 and you should be at the last fight.

lastmap doesn't even check progress it just runs it script. so you should be able to do that at any time.

That's what I was saying is unused. It's a fight with a single Submarine Crew enemy. I'm not sure that's referenced in the game.

Well, it would have to be a world map battle too.

Also, isn't field 768 just the field on which you fight Bizarro and then Safer?
The actual "last" field is 763 (it's used for two different occasions though), once your GameMoment value is 1999.

That would certainly limit it. I think the last overworld battle is 256 with a single Cactuar. That's not accessible until the first time you get the Highwind AND that would put you backward in the game. 77 is the largest leap you can make and not have nothing happen because of the GameMoment. That scene ends up setting GameMoment and doesn't care what it starts at.

You can use the Midgar Zolom and Ruby Weapon too but Ruby Weapon is too high and the Midgar Zolom brings you to a North Corel screen.
