Something went terribly wrong :(
« on: 2016-11-04 07:31:22 »
Well... after some tinkering I managed to get the game launching from 7th Heaven.
But... it's a mess :/

No Intros showing, when I'm pressing Esc I'll see the main menu (unaltered although I configures a new background)
From there I can start the game. Again -> no FMV.
By pressing ctrl+s I can skip this (strangely) but the whole scene is black with no music except for Barrets text box.

If I go forward blindly I'll enter the first fight but just look at the pic @__@

After that battle the game crashes to the desktop.
I guess I'm derping around hard but this drives me nuts >_>

Could someone please help me?

The text issue is due to the exe not being set to bc_exe in the settings.
The black screen is due to the video not playing.
The video not playing is because (from my experience) you have to unpack the iro and copy all the videos into the video folder. The converter should have made one for you in the main directory of the game.
As for the cloud model i'm not too sure. What mod are you using for it?

Well...
I thought that as well with the wrong exe-path - but it's the correct one (in my case: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\ff7_bc.exe)
The movie-path is set as well (in this case: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\data\movies)

I didn't get any error from the converter or such thing.
What's really strange is the following: 2
If I f.e. extract some iro archive to a folder, I can see the contents, f.e. seffect1_12.png" from the spell textures pack there, I don't find it in the FF VII folder although the mod is active and configured.
Shouldn't they be extracted into the folders? o.O

Everything looks so simple on EQ2Alyza vid but something is really messed up atm :(

So you extracted the movies into the correct folder then, and the movies ARE set in the setting to that specific folder?

Do you have menu overhaul activated in the reunion?

I guess the movies in the movie-folder are still the standard-ones comming with the game...

Stuff looks like that atm:

(Maybe there is an issue here, I'm just too blind to see... Don't jump on me because of the load order - I managed that as well, but the pic has been taken after deactivating and reactivating all mods)

Just a stupid question before I'm going to make a clean reinstall: Are the selected mods components extracted to the FF VII directory or they used right of the iro-package on the fly? (don't know how to express this in english, I hope you'll get what I mean)
I know this question is weird but from what I understand (and have seen in the vids regarding 7th Heaven) the tool manages everything for you so no need to do manual extracting, etc.

Don't ever do any kind of manual extractions. The IRO files are memory injected after you Launch Game, so everything is temporarily used "on the fly." No game files are changed after using the Game Converter.

The scrambled menu and missing textures can only mean that the setup was wrong, but your Workshop -> Settings do look correct.

It's best to post your APP.log and FF7_GC.log before anything can be done.

Well, I reused the converter and this time things look good actually - maybe something went wrong the first time.

A tiny little thing still bugs me though:

(or when Fullscreen is selected)

As you can see the screen overlaps the monitor-boundaries.
I already set Disable Display Scaling On High DPI in the compatibility mode and made sure that 1080 is correct chosen in the OpenGL-settings.
This bugs me :(

PS: Hopefully the last question -> Is 7th Heaven compatible with SweetFX?
I've seen some stuff on Steam about it, etc. but I see no difference and nothing happens when I'm using the toggle-hotkey.

Well I'm sorry to sort of necro this thread but the issue is still there.
It doesn't matter if I go fullscreen or windowed. I tried several resolutions in the OGL settings and even forced resolutions via driver.
It's still the same: The inagme-picture overlaps the boundaries and I have no clue how to fix this .__.

I have 1 last idea. I doubt its recommended but it tends to fix my stuff. I change the options of my exe to run without DPI scaling. I dunno how other avoid this bit I have no side effects so meh
