Download the newest drivers for your graphics card and/or try checking different settings in FF7Config (if you're using nVidia Riva fix, then set it to TNT).

Ah, thanks, that works.  Except.. heh, new problem.  The opening logo and every other movie cutscene has a large black bar running through the middle of it, now.  Is this a game error or something to do with the high res patch?

That's known to happen if you run the game in a 32-bit color mode. Are you runnig it in windowed mode?

Nope, full screen.  32-color I attempted to run, yes.  I can't figure out how to uninstall it, though...

Just erase FF7.exe, get a fresh copy of the 1.02 version and start from the begining. Simply don't install the 32-bit patch this time.

hq2x is a command line program that converts individual images. The code can be used in another program, but just running it alone does nothing.

No, It hasn't been implemented and, even though I'm not any expert hacker, I can tell it would be really hard to do it.

you'll be waiting a long time then, but it's your choice.

I think I may have found another issue with maybe the high-res patch. Here's my system setup:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
1.5GB RAM
ATI Radeon x1900 512MB (PCIE)
Augidy 2 ZS

The issue? While going through the whirlwind maze, there are several points where you have to walk past points while the winds are calm, otherwise you get knocked back and must fight some minor enemy. However, it doesn't visually seem as if the winds die down at all. After fighting, the winds may appear to die down or speed back up, but they never match with the actual appearance on screen. In fact, the apperance never changes (i.e. highwind stays highwind, lowwind stays lowwind).

If you're lucky enough, you might be able to walk past the winds by walking into the wind at the right time, but there's no indicator of when that might be.

I'm going to test this with the normal 1.02 exectable and report my results.

--------------

UPDATE:

Looks like this is NOT an issue unique to the patch. It happens with the 1.02 nvidia patch as well. The only time the wind dies and rises properly is if when you run the game in software mode. Ideas on how to resolve this?

Read the first post in this thread then you can find this:

Here is the tutorial for applying the great HighRes Patch on non-english versions:

1. Make a fresh FULL install from your original FFVII CD.
2. Get the english 1.02 XP Patch.
3. Overwrite the original FF7.exe and the FF7Config.exe in your Gamefolder with the patched ones found in the archive.
4. Apply Saints great HighRes Patch, just like posted in these thread.
5. Replace your language-code from following files:

..\data\cd\cr_gm.lgp
..\data\cd\disc_gm.lgp
..\data\menu\menu_gm.lgp
..\data\wm\world_gm.lgp
..\data\minigame\high-ge.lgp (YES it's "-" in stead of "_")
..\data\minigame\snowboard-ge.lgp (YES it's "-" in stead of "_")

-> into filename_us.lgp (ie. ..\data\cd\cr_gm.lgp -> ..\data\cd\cr_us.lgp)

6. Remove the language-letter form follwing files:

..\FFVII\data\field\gflevel.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gchocobo.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gcondor.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gsub.lgp

(ie. ..\FFVII\data\field\gflevel.lgp -> ..\FFVII\data\field\flevel.lgp)

These are the german files, if you want to patch another version, just look for the same files ending with your language code (ie. _sp for spanish or _fr for french, _it for italian i guess). The files beginning with g, in my german version, should start with s, f or i, relating to your language.

After doing so, you should be able to play the game in HighRes and in your language. Only the Menu still remains in english, but this should not to be a problem.

I've tried this with the german version, but it didn't function  :-?

well djsolidsnake86 I once got a french version to work with this patch by renaming the files that TazDef said it's just that instead of cr_gm it was cr_fr so I think for itlian it will be cr_it that you will have to change for cr_us and so on... you'll have to rename all the files that TazDef said (coracoideus have posted the list of these files) ....  if I remember well the menu and shop will be in english and the rest will be in your language

by the way the saint realy good work !!! hehe I pass the game with your patch and didn't got any bug or anything so tanks to you to share your talent hehe!!

1) My current display settings are 1280x1024 @ 32 bit (my monitor can do that 1280x960 though, I checked) - will this High Resolution FF7 run well on those settings?

2) Does the patch alter the ff7.exe, so much that Memhack codes would need another offset change? (all Memhack ff7 codes need "EA18" added to work with the 1.02 patch)

1) yes

2) And, yes.  Dunno if it WILL change the mem offsets, but the exe is the only thing really changed in this patch, so... yeah.

Oh...I see.

Well um...that's yet another journey to find the correct offset. And at the moment, I'm having difficulty figuring out how to get the codes to work without:

- disabling Autoplay
- using the Alt+Tab, which triggers the "battles crash" glitch

"EA18" is the offset for codes to work with the 1.02 patch. I'm guessing yet another offset would be needed for the hi-res game patch?

So you're saying most, if not all, of the 1.02 MemHack offsets would work when the hi-res game patch is applied?

Oh, and I got the codes to work earlier too - yay! Loading the ff7.exe process into Memhack AFTER the CD is inserted but BEFORE the game actually loads guarantess the Memhack FF7 codes work. The Alt+Tab is confirmed to f-up battles.
