im going to include as many models and characters to replace each individual knight. spread your thanks to leonhartgr and buster swd. i will make an installer similar to umi if i get good enough to make one.

I'm actually interested in how you did this. which file are you manipulating? how are you dealing with the animations?

the magic lgp contains the files for all summons. the skeleton is a .d. open it with kimera switch the pieces, add textures, resize etc, then resave as modelname.d. the animation didnt change at all from knight01. i wont be changing animations much or at all if it can be avoided. simply placing characters in a spot where it looks natural

so which Knight do you want to replace with wich? there are some obvious choices such as the spear knight and Cid, the magic knight and Aerith, the last big one Zack or Sephiroth, ( seph makes more sense )
I'd actually have to check all the knights but I think you might run into little problems
as a suggestion, if you can, make them use their ultimate weapons if they have any

cid sounds good,
third definitely holds a STAFF. it's a fire wiz. should be aerith
next one holds an axe, could be tifa
after that another sword knight, could be cloud ( maybe with a slightly edited suit as a 'young cloud' )
another axe, could be
a small staff, this could be vincent with his claw
another spear, could be substituted with yuffie and her shuriken
this one has some weird kind of weapon that resembles a staff as well. Could be aerith again
this one has a spear again
second to last one has a big axe
last one has yet another sword, should be cloud
big one should be septh


if you can get models to just use the knights weapons, then you wont have any trouble. I dunno if you can though

well see how it turns out. there will be alot of brainstorming. im trying to fit in a character along with their weapon. vincent with a gun, barrett with gun arm, cid could use the nights weapons or his own, yuffie and shuriken.

only in few circumstances. cid is the only one that should use knights weapons. the other 6, not counting cait and red, have at least one model redone

I wouldn't open with Zack, but it would definitely be awesome to end with him. I wouldn't use Sephiroth either. Since he's the main villian it would be weird to use it against him.

Replacing summons isn't anything new, but this sounds interesting :wink:
So I guess the materia will sort of summon past characters or something, huh?

i just think itd b cool to have characters summoned for the strongest attack. i will take into account all ideas. I can always expand this. But first release id like to have it as i envision. Im trying to learn how to make an installer. If this is really liked i can add on to it and try to make an installer like umi or the first tab of the bfe

You could always make a first release where you use nothing but Cloud's model for every knight. It would have a bit of a Dragon Ball Z feel to it then.
Would also be fun to make a joke version of this with characters like Bugenhagen.

ya i saw the youtube vid and that's what i thought as well......but boy it's gonna be a real chore renaming the model parts and substituting respectively. Moment i saw this vid i've been trying it out myself with the cloud battle model in the game...

@archerxtreme I sent you the knight03 I replaced as Vincent .  If you or someone else can fix the animation so as the model do not fall apart it would be awesome :)

i liked how this one turned out. theres a black texture out and about on the internet for an old apz. i replaced the face in the image with the new texture. for knight 11 apz cloud in a black soldier uniform will be the default with the option to switch to the same model but with prp zack's head

what did you think of knight 3 vincent shooting the fire? i know that night still has a texture on it from the old weapon thats what that blue line is but there is alot of texture files. i havent found the right one yet to get rid of it

@buster swd not yet. but if we release and apz has an issue we can take it down and have it back up in less than an hour. i found that one a model is set up i can just switch the animation file and tweak the animation. for example apz cloud for knight 1. open save as knight12. take knight 12's animation. then just tweak animation.

@kuugen because of whats previously stated above we can move faster than i thought we would. on release ill include cloud models in all sword and club spots and give the option to use seph or zach. aeris on staves, and cid on spears and give the option for yuffie. ill throw barret, tifa, and vincent in any spots i can find that dont require a whole animation overhaul

just an update. were past halfway. im trying to learn how to make an installer for this. id like to include multiple models for each knight just to keep you all happy. couple limiting factors. i do not know how to remove the effects on the weapons of the knights like that blue trail so without using the original knights weapons some we look bad.

personally speaking i'd rather not have it as an installer.....so if you can have an archive ready please dont chuck it away once the installer comes out.

as soon as were done we'll post a link with all the models for manual install and it will stay up even after the installer is done. i myself do prefer a manual install as well. simply copying and pasting the models into the folder will leave behind files of the original knight like the cape and tails on the helms and things like that. it wont cause any issues because the models wont load them but it will take up space

the installer will provide these features/options. automated installation of the models, deleting files left behind by original knights, keeping original knight models, creating a backup of the magiclgp that can later be restored by rerunning the installer. eventually i will put in an option to change the characters weapons during the installation but this will not be a priority and will be added later.

First I didn't understand why I received that mail... and now on the list of mods I see "Kyo13 Barrets Canon". it's pretty surprising to see something I made on another mod, since I don't have done a lot...

Concerning Barret's Canon I give you permission to use it BUT like I said on previous posts, this has been made using first part of canon on Timu's Barret battle model and textures are from Millenia. So I just use parts of their works to made it.

So I think their permissions are requiered. Anyway you have mine.

PS : I remember Timu gaving me permission to release Barret's Canon on Qhimm forums. But I didn't have any answer from Millenia. He didn't came here since a long time. So if you want his permission, I suggest you to contact him via his website (Argh I did'nt found it anymore).

thanks. and i didnt know that. first release is probably going to be strictly cloud cid and aerith and more will be added later. i sent messages to just about everyone that did a model of any sort for main characters just so i could build a list of what i can use and what i cant

I think we just have to be patient. Most of the time anyone that has created something on these forums don't mind if you use it in a different project, as long as they are credited for their work. This is a very cool project, can't wait to see it completed!

tweaking the animation for knight 11 then have to do all of knight 13 then ill put out a beta today. itll have weeemus fmv cloud and cid. the dark and light texture for his buster blade. also mikes buster sword and ultima weapon

theres a bug with the weapons and that'll be a version 1.1 likely but other than that, it looks good and works fine so it's likely the final version

The model is fixed already, so far no bugs/issues have been reported so I'm making it my final release, I tried tweaking with  the face but I just can't get it right, making the eyes and mouth larger makes the face weird..
