One small thing, I don't think the Find->Run function is working in 1.4.

It works, but not completely: find previous is disabled (fixed in the next version) and it only searches in the current field.



I found a regression: The maplist file is no longer open when opening an LGP archive.

Edit: I've seen that Makou Reactor can export pc field levels to psx dat files. Is the reverse possible?

No, convert pc field to dat or dat to pc field is not possible with Makou. Model Loader and background are not in the same format. You can only import scripts for now.

There are lot of unused values for $GameMoment var, use the search window to test (in particular the researcher of variables, var[2][0]). For example, in sininb41 I've found values 370 to 376. But 377 are not used :) .

The OSX version doesn't work for me, I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Anyone else having problems? Or (even better) solutions?

Hey,

Sorry about this very basic question, but I want to backup my save files before using the editor and I can't even find them!!!  They're not in the save folder in FF8 main folder...  Don't know where the hell they are, but when I open FF8 I do see them and can open them.  Anyone can help me plz?  I'm using Windows 7.  Really sorry if this was answered before, I couldn't find it!

First of all, than you for this program, just what I was looking for! This is a wonderful editor and I'm looking forward to the future releases. Keep up the good work! =)

However I have one (hopefully) small request for the upcoming releases (I'm using 1.5.1 atm). I noticed that when you add new abilities to your GF's, they are always automatically 'Completed!' and cannot be edited otherwise like the abilities the GF already knows/can learn.
Would it be possible to have an option to edit the AP of these added abilities too so that they can be learned while playing the game? For me it's fun to have my perfect abilities list waiting while having to see a little effort to achieve them, haha.

Anyways, thank you in advance!

Sorry, this is not possible, everything can be done for gf abilities is already editable with Hyne, we can not do more because FF8 does not allow it.

Hey myst6re, i did some research and i found some hex addresses for chocobo world, i've tested the values myself so they should work 100%, im leaving a screenshot for you to see, since i thought this may help you speed up a bit with the next update  ;D
PD:I used WinHex to edit the "CHOCORPG" save file.

Okay okay, I should explain how to do your research. Firstly, CHOCORPG is compressed, in LZS. Secondly, it's not necessary to understand all the bytes for saves, just the bytes between 2 and 66 (64 bytes):


To compress/uncompress CHOCORPG, you can use ficeLZS (http://mirror.mypage.sk/ficedula/php/programs3a9a.html). It's a command-line tool.

Japanese Char checker for "Hyne" (JavaScript)

I only checked on IE8, Firefox 3 & 7 on Windows XP.
Maybe, some characters are not displayed by browser and its font.

And this is a correspondence table of Location Name of Rare Card and Card Player.
Player list based on Japanese FF8 Ultimania. I don't know what they are called in English version.
Locations & Players

On Japanese FF8, 3 Location Names are different to Hyne.
But there are no card player. not used in game.

I almost forgot, i have a request (if possible of course) any chances you can add some sort of button on the magic tab to delete all magics, because it happened to me that i had to many magic spells (weak ones) so i didnt have space to store more magic spells (stronger ones) and it was kinda annoying going through each magic, selecting "-" as if none. If is not possible i'll just have to stick with the ol' fashion choose & delete. xD

This will be done.

Hi myst6re, just wanted to say thank you for your hard work, this is by far the most complete savegame editor out there so please keep it up. ;)
Btw do you have plans to finish the chocobo world editor? im looking forward to it, can you tell me what value should i hex edit for the level or weapons?

I'll add some values​to be edited in version 1.6 (level, weapons, hps, id...), but I do not know much about the 64 bytes available.

The next version can edit many more things (72% editable).

Current changelog:

If we take into account that ~702 bytes are unused in the savemap, Hyne 1.6 can then edit 84% of the savemap.
